Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 15
The bright light from the sunlight seeped in through the window, illuminating the room. A lone figure was seated on the bed, leaning against the headboard.
Odette Albinius’ features were deadly pale, and the sheets around her was covered in red. The mark of scratches was present on her neck, and blood stained her neck.
The dagger laid beside her, and the cuts she had made on her hand was distinctly visible. While some of the cuts stopped bleeding, others were not closed up yet.
Although it was morning, none of the maids entered into the room. Nonetheless, this did not bring surprise to Odette for it was a common occurrence. Everytime she was poisoned, this had happened.
Her mother had a strange obsession when it came to purchasing poisons, and everytime she got a new poison on her hand, she fed them to Odette in certain quantities in order to make her immune to them. There were no boundaries that her mother would not cross when it came to making her strong.
Since such occurrences were regular to Odette, she could not exactly predict when her food will be poisoned. Nonetheless, Odette could not bring herself to be bothered with them.
In her previous life, due to huge amount of abuse of poision inside her body, her body had lost the ability to feel pain, and therefore, since she had felt this intense pain after a long period of time, Odette found herself being driven crazy.
Fortunately enough, she was sane enough to stop before everything could get serious. Things would indeed turn out regretful if she had driven that blade through her neck.
Although Odette knew that if she tried, she would be able to avoid getting poisoned. However, as her mother thought, maybe she would get stronger with it.
After a period of time, she would probably be numb to pain just like she was in her previous life. But with the changes she had been planning to make, things might not go in that direction.
In the end, Odette wanted to challenge her luck. Her fate would take a change for the worst, and she might die due to the poisoning.
The distant memory of when she was first poisoned flooded inside of her mind. Maybe because of how pathetic she was, that memory was always engraved into her mind despite of it being lots of years ago.
Odette remembered about the intense pain she went through and how she begged for help. Knocking on the locked door of that cold room, she cried for someone to stop the pain and comfort her.
However, no one came to her rescue. Her mother did not bother with her, and the maids did not care about what she was dealing with. Thinking that it was something scary or contagious, she was locked inside a room.
Her four year old self was locked inside that dark and cold for probably around three days without food before finally her mother wanted to look for her.
Back then, her state was terrible, and if she was rescued slightly late, she would have been dead. Her mother was angered when she learned of that, and she ordered for almost all the servant in the manor to be beheaded.
She was too naive and pathetic at that time to think that her mother did it for her sake; she was foolishly happy.
No one cared for her. It was not her life that mattered to her; it was her mother’s comfort that she was thinking about.
After that, maybe she had cried for help for couple of more times. Although she was not locked in a dark and frightening room any more, no one responded to her calls— not even her mother.
That was when she realized that she was alone. There was no one truly beside her side; everyone who approached her had an ulterior motive.
It was quite expected for herself to be hurt by that, but soon enough, she had gotten numb to it. Since she did not care for anyone, it did not matter to her whether or not they cared about.
Maybe that’s where her obsession and impulse for amusing things came for. Her pathetic side wanted to show others how she was perfectly happy without their care and superior to them.
Pushing the blanket off of her body, Odette Albinius got down from the bed, and a slight ache went through her forehead causing her to halt in her steps. The pain from yesterday caused her to feel fatigue.
With her wobbly legs, Odette took couple of steps forward while a dull ache remained within her chest. It appeared that the effect of the poison had not subsided completely.
When she took a few more steps forward, her knees gave in all of a sudden, and her body fell towards the ground. A sound was created when her body crashed against the floor, and pain permeated through her entire body.
Pressing her palms against the floor, Odette sat up straight and leaned her body against the bed. This was how far she was able to use her strength. She was too weak to stand up and make her way towards the bathroom.
“L-Lady O-Odette, m-may we enter in?”
The shaky voice of the maid entered into her ear, and the voice increased the intensity of the headache that went through her head.
“Stay standing outside until I give you the permission to do so,” Odette spoke out— somewhat surprised that she had the strength within her herself to manage that.
Odette Albinius had no idea on when she will be able to get her pathetic and weak self off the ground. Nonetheless, she knew that it was impossible for her to do such a thing now.
As for the maids standing outside, she did not care about them. This was probably her petty side making a decision. However, she did not want them to be in peace when she was in pain.
