Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 18
Other than the seven year old boy and Odette, there were no one present inside the room. Adrian was taken outside to be bathed and will be brought in after an hour.
After what had happened with that senior maid, Odette was curious to see how meticulously other maids would be bathing Adrian.
Raising her tea cup, Odette took a sip out of it while observing the boy in front of her. After watching what had happened, she could see that the seven year old boy was obviously shaken up.
That fright was what she had needed, and seeing his pale shivering body caused a grin to appear on her face. Although seeing the weak in fear did not give her much pleasure, she required this for everything to flow smoothly.
The tea had grown to become cold, and finding the taste to be displeasing, she placed the tea cup on top of the table.
“Come here,” Odette ordered in a domineering tone.
The boy made his way to her with his shivering legs, and standing couple of steps away from her, he continued to stare at the ground.
“Raise your head.”
Following her orders, Dennis looked up, and his eyes fell upon Odette. Only once after he had entered into her room did he have an eye contact with her, and finding that to be bone-chilling, he did not dare to look at her in the eyes again.
As he met his eyes with hers again, he could see how frightening she truly was; it probably matched to the level of the Duke.
“You are quite selfish. Although the boy had not attacked you once at that time, you did not hesitate to injure him twice,” Odette vocalised, “It appears that you’re quite cunning as well.
Fortunately enough, that characteristic of yours will be helpful at here, and that’s why, I would not be disposing of you.
Remember one thing, there is nothing wrong with using dirty methods to rise to the top. After all, once you’re at the top, you are the one who makes decision on what’s wrong and what’s right.”
Hearing her in the beginning, Dennis thought that he would be punished. However, even though her tone was cold, he could sense that she was not displeased with her.
“I was impressed,” she stated, “That’s why, amuse me like that in the future. As long as you show potential, I will not get rid of you. Do whatever you can to get to the top, but once you are a hindrance, I remove you.
You understand who your biggest opponent now is, right? You will get a promotion if you are to get rid of him. I don’t require weaklings and idiots at here. Only smart people will survive.”
Dennis understood what Odette indicating by those words and nodded his head. His current enemy was Adrian, and he understood what Odette wanted of him.
Since Odette had such expectations of him, he did not want to let go of it. Growing up in the slums before the slave institution, Dennis understood how things worked.
The greed for promotion was able to erase all boundaries from his mind, and since Odette mentioned on how she did not care about him playing dirty, he did not mind getting rid of that little kid.
Even though he felt bad and hesitant within himself for doing something like that, he knew that it had to be done for a better life. It was that little boy’s fault for being weak.
Odette could identify the expression on his face and guess the thought process inside his mind. It seemed that Dennis was vicious from a young age. Nonetheless, she was no one to look down at him for that.
After all, she was worse than him.
