“There is no big deal about mothers lying. My mother always lies to me,” Odette spoke out.

A gasp escaped from his mouth before Adrian stated, “Is your mother a stepmother? I have heard stories from my mom on how stepmoms are bad.”

“No, I can assure you that she is my real mother,” Odette vocalised, “Maybe she is bad to me and lies to me because she is my mother. Not all mothers are the same.”

“Silly Girl, how can mothers be mean? My mother used to scold me too, but she did it for my good. I used to call her mean over that too. Don’t be sad. Your mother loves you as well,” he spoke out.

“I wonder how it would have been if your words were true,” she said, “I really did make a right decision in choosing you.”

Extending her hand towards him, she trailed her finger down her cheek and stated, “You are really pure. That’s good!”

“How old are you? What is your name? Do you want to be my friend?” he asked eagerly.

“This is the first time someone asked me to be friends with him. What do you think I should do?” Odette stated, raising one of her eyebrows.

Adrian’s eyes due to shock, and he vocalised, “No one asked you to be friends with them? You are really pretty! Do you not have any friends? That’s so sad.

I have lots and lots of friends, but I had to leave them because of this ugly man. He grabbed me and took me away. It was really scary. You have me now though. I will be good friend to you, and you have to just protect me from that Dennis. I don’t want to be with him.”

“You will protect you by yourself,” she stated, “I will teach you how to do it. That’s all. If you want to protect yourself from Dennis, you need to be as bad as him.”

“You can’t protect me from him?” he questioned.

“It’s not that I can’t,” she said, “It’s just that I won’t protect you. You have to do that on your own. I will just be teaching you.”

Her body was still weak, and she was slowly losing energy within her legs. She felt slightly light-headed, and her knees were very much close to giving up.

However, she wanted to continue this conversation with Adrian. There was something about the boy that managed to draw her in, and she did not want to quit her conversation with him. His purity just made him irresistible to her.

‘You are getting attached to this boy really fast, Odette. This is really interesting!’

A confused expression sat on his face before Adrian clapped both of his hands together, and a sparkle appeared in his eyes. His shining blue eyes managed to amaze her.

“You are going to make me the hero, right? That’s what you mean! I finally understood you! Don’t worry! I will defeat the evil guy!” he enthusiastically expressed.

She laughed and said, “Those are some big words coming from you, little boy. You were not able to injure him back there. Dennis is really stronger than you.”

Shaking his head, Adrian spoke out, “No, this is how it goes in the story. The bad man is really strong in the beginning, and the hero is weak.

But then, the hero gains power and defeats the bad guys. My mother told me that if I work hard, I will able to destroy the bad guys. You will help me, right?”

The memories of her past life surfaced once again, and she said, “You are really a hero, Adrian, and even without my help, you will be able to become one.”

A grin formed on his face, and he voiced out, “You think so too? Will you marry me if I become the hero? My mother said that beautiful princesses marry the heroes, and you are really pretty. You are the prettiest girl I have seen. Even Isabella wasn’t as pretty as you.”

A sharp pain went through her chest in that instant, and pounding headache formed within her head. Although she knew that she would be able to avoid that with proper bed rest, she wanted to challenge her body.

“You want to marry me?” she raised one of her eyebrows.

He nodded his head.

“I won’t marry a weakling though, and you are really short for me,” she said, “At this rate, you will only look like a little brother to me.”

“No, I don’t want to be a little brother to you. Mother said that if I love someone, I have to marry that person, and I really love you. I will drink a lot of milk to grow strong and tall.”

Odette stumbled slightly backward. The strength in her body was depleting in an incredibly high rate, and it was miraculous that she was able to keep standing up until this point.

Adrian continued, “Also I am the hero. Doesn’t everyone want to marry the hero? That’s what my mom had said. You will marry me, right?”

Despite of the sharp headache, she did not find his voice to be irritating— maybe because of how he was first one to use such a tone on her. It left a weird sensation within her, and she desired to feel that more.

“What if you meet someone more beautiful and better than me?” she asked.

“How can that happen? There is no one who is more pretty than you. You sparkle! I want to marry you,” he spoke out.

Odette’s line of sight was starting to get blurry, and she questioned, “I sparkle? Silly boy, this is just my ornaments. I wonder what expression you would be making when you learn how scary I truly am.”

With that, Odette heard the boy call for her before her eyes closed, and her body fell down towards the ground. Suddenly, her surroundings became dark and silent.
