Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 30
The interior of the castle was grand as always. The floors were covered in blue, and all the tiles were polished to the point they shone. Golden light from the chandelier hit them, illuminating the path before them.
The symbol of kingdom of Erebus and its flag was proudly displayed at various parts of the castle. The royal blue background of it was the colour of the kingdom of Erebus.
When it came to the territory, kingdom of Erebus was not the largest neither was it that developed compared to the other kingdoms. Although the country was stricken with poverty, rarely any kingdom would want to engage in a war with this Kingdom.
Erebus had the best fighters in the history due to be ruthless and stern training, and taking in their long streak of victories, it was known to be one of the feared countries.
The cold air went past by Odette as she gradually rose her head, taking in view of the grand throne before her. The throne was adorned with valuable and beautiful jewels, displaying its worth.
Upon this magnificent crown was the King of this country seated. His appearance showed his authority, and stern expression seated upon his face managed to pressurise those in his presence.
His purple eyes the inherited attribute of the royal family gazed upon both of the child, and they held on humour in them. It was unwavering.
Edrenal Birstone was the seventh king of Erebus, and under his rule, the country flourished considerably. Although he put a certain value to ruthlessness and violence, it decreased compared to the time of his father’s rule.
Odette had visited the palace quite a number of times in her past life, and considering the number of siblings they had in their family, this was taken to be an honour.
However, Odette did not consider it to be such. She took this to be a bother. The socializing part at here was too boring for her taste.
Richard Albinius stood beside her, and under the King’s stare, she could sense that he was intimidated without taking a glance at him. As for Odette, although she feigned to be affected, she was used to it.
Obediently, both of the child lowered their gazes and stared at the ground after a polite bow at the King. As for their father, Damian Albinius, arrogance showed in his face, and he did not lower his head even for a second before the King.
Odette was not surprised by her father’s actions neither was the King offended. They were used to such behaviour from her father.
The ducal house of Albinius swore an oath to never be after the King’s throne, and due to lack of the ambition for the throne, the King did not consider her father to be a threat regardless of how powerful he was.
In return for that, the ducal household was granted with the permission to do whatever they desired as long as they did not harm the state of the country.
Therefore, although the Kingdom was reigned on by the Birstone family, at the end of the day, many of the decisions made had the influence of the Albinius family.
When it came to breaking the oath sworn, the consequences were serious for it was taken under the grand priest whose extent of power remained unknown to this day.
“Duke Albinius, I was waiting for your presence,” the King started, “Shall we talk over a game of chess? It has been a long time since we played against each other.”
“I have no reason to decline that,” the father answered.
“That’s good! Richard and Odette, I have recently heard of the progress both of you had made. Two of you are surely living up to your father’s name. The Kingdom holds great expectation towards you both,” the King voiced out courteously.
Although the King was quite reserved with his words, he knew how to compliment the people around him and encourage them. No wonder under his reign, the Kingdom deviated a lot from its norms.
“Thank you for the compliment, Your Majesty,” both Odette and Richard said simultaneously, bowing at the figure seated before them.
“Ares and Jeanette are both in the garden, waiting for you two,” the King vocalised, “I will have the maid to guide you two to there.”
