Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 32
Constant heavy breathing and loud pants escaped from Odette’s mouth while she slid back. Pressing her toes against the ground, she prevented herself from going further backward.
Sweat glistened as they dripped down her face, and raising her head, Odette wiped away the salty liquid from her face. The seven year old wore a wide smile on her face, and her eyes displayed how she was enjoying this.
Her hair that was once pulled into a neat braid was at a dishevelled state, and sweat dripped her hair wet as her bangs were messily stuck against the forehead.
Her clothing had multiple tears made on it, and blood oozed out of the wound, staining her clothing red. Some of the wounds were beginning to close, leaving a scar behind.
After a long time, Odette was into a challenging fight with someone, and the thrill caused her to forget about how she was in the body of a seven year old.
The sword held by her was not the one her seven year old self used, and due to its heavy weight coupled with how her hands were recently wounded Odette found it difficult to handle it.
The amount of heaviness this body could currently handle was measly, and she was determined to change that.
As much as Odette wanted to devote herself to enjoying her life, she knew that she would be barely able to do it if she was not at the top.
She did not crave to be the superior one like her father as long as she got her part of the amusement. But knowing that being weak would not let her achieve much, she decided to change that.
Opposite to her stood Nicholas, and unlike Odette who had a hard time standing up and catching her breath he was completely stable. Couple of scratches were inflicted upon his body, but they were nothing compared to the injuries on Odette’s body.
“Lady Odette, that’s enough for today. You have already trained for seven hours, and your body would not be able to handle it if you go on for long. You might collapse at this rate,” Nicholas vocalised.
“Oh! Has it been that long?” Odette managed to utter out.
The thrill she got from this made her unable to notice the time. Being against a challenging opponent made her forget about the current state of her body.
Raising her head slightly, she felt the light from the sun hit her eyes. The brightness instantly caused her to avert her line of sight.
After Nicholas had mentioned about it, Odette found herself feeling slightly light-headed probably because of how strong the sun was and her knees were close to giving up.
Collapsing here would not do anything good to her. As much as she loved testing the limits of her body, Odette did not want to lie on the bed unconscious for an uncertain period of time so soon again.
“Lady Odette, I see your determination, and it appears that you tremendously improved to an extent I myself am amazed at it. Never have I seen someone as talented as you. However, Lady Odette, you need to pay attention to your body. It would do you no good if you collapse,” Nicholas stated.
“Are you worried about me, Sir Nicholas?” Odette questioned curious to know his answer.
Odette Albinius did not understand the motive behind his care for her. Was it because he genuinely cared for her or due to the sense of responsibility he had towards her for being assigned to her by her father?
The question startled Nicholas, which was shown due to his dilated eyes. Nevertheless, parting his lips, he was about to give him answer when Odette stopped him.
“Nevermind about that, Sir Nicholas,” she said.
Although she had asked the question, the hesitancy to hear the answer emerged within her. It was not the negative that caused the reluctance within her; she doubted he would say ‘no’ in such a situation.
The sincerity in his eyes if he went for a ‘yes’ frightened Odette. It was amusing to see herself be a coward. Nonetheless, this was something Odette wanted to maintain. There were some certain limits within herself that Odette was not able to push.
“But, Lady Odette, you”
Not wanting to go further on this matter, Odette decided upon interrupting his sentence and stated, “I will be taking a break now then. Meanwhile, why don’t you train both of them? Although they are mere slaves, having them be useful would bring an advantage to me.”
Tilting his head, Nicholas looked at the boys Odette was speaking about. Under the bright sunlight, both the boys were standing, and their expressions showed how pained they felt from the strong light.
While Dennis stood straight, Adrian wore a frown on his face as he attempted to shift his weight from one foot to the other continuously.
After hesitating for a moment, Nicholas said, “I have no problem with that. But if you require for guards to be by your side, it would be better for you to take the trained ones. Duke would not know any objections towards that.”
Having guards’ by one’s side was normal, and all of her siblings had them despite of their status. Although Odette had couple of them in her previous life, she did not want to have them in this life of hers.
As for how vulnerable Odette would be without them, she did not care much about that. Killing her was not that easy after all.
“I would be to prefer without the guards, and since father is not pushing me on the matter, I believe I will be fine without them,” Odette said
