The brightness in Adrian’s blue eyes dimmed down, and as he lowered his gaze downwards, he protruded his bottom lip forward, causing a pout to form upon his face.

“I am not foolish,” he said unenthusiastically.

“I have to correct you on that. You are quite foolish. Soon enough, you will be learning the reason behind it. If you want to win this fight, you would need to go through some special training, and everytime you are able to complete it, I will give you a reward,” Odette vocalised.

Hearing her words caused him to instantly raise his head, and the sparkle in his eyes appeared again.

‘He surely knows how to endearingly express himself with his eyes.’

“Are you fond of chocolates and caramels?” Odette questioned.

Instantly, a wide smile appeared on Adrian’s face, and he nodded his head excitedly. His expression caused her to let out a chuckle.

“Well then, for the first part of the training, you will be running ten laps around the training area, and for each part you are able to complete, you will be rewarded with a treat chocolate or caramel,” Odette expressed.

The mention of the chocolate and caramel was able to make his mouthwater. Both of these was considered to be a luxury for him back when he lived with his mother, and only got to try them rarely.

Nevertheless, he vividly remembered the taste of them and craved for them. Ever since his mother was gone, he never had any delicious food, and the mention of this made Adrian energetic.

“I will do it, Lady Odette. Thank you!” he cheerfully spoke out.

Completing through the training was not easy for Adrian, and it was quite difficult for him to accomplish the entire thing. After he was done with the last part, his knee gave up, and his body collapsed against the ground.

Odette found herself being immensely impressed. In the beginning, she did not intend to set the training level that high for the boy. However, seeing how he completed everything successfully, it made her want to challenge him more and more.

Odette herself was not that skilled when she first began her training, and in addition to that, she was not malnourished compared to the boy.

Either Adrian was a gifted person or there was some secret to his progress. Regardless of that, she was looking forward to him getting better.

Odette Albinius made her way towards Adrian, and taking out her handkerchief, she held it out to the little boy, who was sprawled on the ground. It appeared that all of his limbs had given up, and sweat dripped down his forehead.

“Lady Odette, this was hard, but I managed to do it. I will be waiting for my treat!” Adrian managed to speak out in midst of his heavy breathing and tried to maintain on a joyful expression.

Odette let out a chuckle. In this manor, he was the only one who had the courage to speak to her in such a way. Surprisingly yet amusingly, Odette did not find herself minding it.

His eyes then fell on the handkerchief held towards him, and wearing a smile on his face, he accepted the handkerchief. Clumsily, he wiped away the sweat from his face while his hand trembled.

“Receiving a handkerchief from a duke’s daughter is a great honour. You better be grateful to me because of this,” Odette lightheartedly said.

Despite the exhaustion that went through his body, Adrian pressed his palm against the floor, and he attempted to sit up. Although his body was screaming for him to lay down, he did not give in to that.

“Is that so? You are such a nice person, Lady Odette! I really like you!” Adrian vocalised, wearing a wide smile upon his face.

“The sun had already settled. Let’s go in now. After you are done bathing, come over to my boudoir,” Odette said, “for your reward.”

Adrain enthusiastically nodded.

Leaning back against the couch, Odette raised her line of sight to see the boy who had just walked in. Even Adrian appeared to be exhausted, when his eyes fell on the chocolates and caramels prepared for him, his mood instantly went up.

At the view of the delicious treats, all of his pain seemed to have disappeared, and due to his joyful mood, he made clumsy steps towards Odette and bowed at her.

“Spare the formalities. There you go. Here are your rewards,” Odette said, “If you maintain this, you will be given more chocolates and caramels.”

The grin on Adrian’s face grew wider before he stated, “Thank you so much about it, Lady Odette. You are really great! You prepared more than I deserve!”

Odette was slightly caught by surprise when she was engulfed into a hug by someone; she had not expect such an action from him.

Adrian’s tiny hand was wrapped around her body, and strangely enough, Odette did not feel any repulsion towards him. Although his actions were quite rude, there was no desire within her to push him away.

Maybe because it was because of the warmth the hug held. Most people did not dare to pull her into a hug, and rarely did those hugs she received this warmth.

Odette almost found it hard to believe how she was easily manipulated by this amount of warmth. There were some parts within her that Odette was scared to discover or touch further; those were some things that should be left alone for the sake of herself.

There were some fears within her overpowered her desire to have fun.

Raising her hand, Odette pushed back Adrian by holding on to his shoulder and said, “As this is your first time, I will look past it. But your behaviour was quite rude, and I don’t want to see you repeat it.”

Noticing the stern tone Odette used on him, Adrian looked at the floor and nodded his head. Seeing the boy’s sudden change of mood caused Odette to arch her eyebrows.

Could it be that her words and tone managed to scare him?
