Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 35
Odette observed at the five year old fidgeted with his finger before raising his head to face her, and while guilt was visible in his eyes distinctly, he spoke out, “Did I upset you, Lady Odette? I am sorry.
I did not mean to do that! You gave me this many chocolates and caramels, and they made me happy. That’s why, I wanted to hug you.”
Adrian then lowered his line of sight, and seeing his endearing appearance, Odette’s desire to tease the boy her increased.
Despite that, relief spread through Odette that the boy was not afraid of her. If he was that easily afraid of her, then things might be quite boring for her.
“Your actions did make me upset,” Odette expressed.
“What do I do then?” Adrian questioned, tilting his head slightly.
“Since this is your first time, I can spare you, but I would expect you to not repeat your actions in the future. You will be severely punished if others’ saw you,” Odette explained, “This is considered to be disrespectful.”
Adrian nodded and voiced out, “I will keep that in mind. However, people here are really weird. My mother really liked it when I hugged her, and she said that my hugs had the ability to make her happy. Why is it not the same for you? Why did it upset you?”
“No idea,” Odette spoke out, “Quickly finish them up. It will be time for the dinner soon, and you miss it if you are late.”
Odette Albinius could not deny his mother’s words. However, that happiness his mother spoke of was not something Odette desired for; it was something Odette considered to be rather troublesome.
After the five year old placed the last chocolate inside his mouth and chewed on it, Odette’s eyes fell on the brown remains of the chocolate, which was stuck at the corner of his lips, and her lips curved to form a smile at that.
“This was delicious!” Adrian exclaimed, “Thank you again, Lady Odette! This was the first time I had so many chocolates and caramels together! Since they used to be really expensive, mother only brought one or two for me. But you are really great!”
One thing Odette learned about the boy was that, despite of the surrounding he grew up in, Adrian was smarter, mature, and more sensible compared to those of his age. Whatever had contributed to those characteristics of his made her curious.
“If you keep up the good work of today, you will be rewarded with more in the future,” Odette spoke out, “You should be get going now.”
Nodding, Adrian made a polite bow at the lady before him, and after that, he turned his back on her, walking out of the room.
Smiling at the distancing back of the five year old, she mumbled, “I wonder how you will be dealing with it, Adrian.”
In a joyful mood, Adrian walked into the servant’s quarter. Thinking about all the delicious chocolate and caramels he had, Adrian could not keep the smile from forming upon his features.
In his mind, Odette’s status now heightened to be that of an angel, and thinking about being rewarded with such delicious food regularly was enough to make his mouth water.
Extending his hand towards the knob, Adrian opened the door to his sleeping quarters, and happily walking into it, he closed the door behind him.
Adrian’s eyes then fell upon Dennis, who was seated upon his bed, and he flashed him a wide smile.
Adrian was not that fond of Dennis, mostly because of how Dennis treated him. However, that did not mean he hated Dennis. A part of Adrian still wanted to be friends with Dennis, but the older boy made it clear with his behaviour on how he wanted no such thing to do with Adrian.
Being without friends at a strange place felt disheartening to the five year old in the beginning, but after getting to know Odette, his mood was starting to get better, and he felt less lonely.
Creases formed between both of his eyebrows when something caught Dennis’ eyes, and he stood up from his place.
Squinting his eyes, Dennis ordered, “Come here, Adrian.”
Wondering what the reason behind that could be, Adrian obediently followed Dennis’ words and walked over to the older boy. Curiosity showed in his eyes while he stood before Dennis.
Extending his hand towards Adrian, Dennis touched the corner of Adrian’s lips, wiping away the brown substance, and while staring at it, Dennis questioned, “What is this?”
Adrian’s eyes fell on the chocolate at Dennis’ hand, and he honestly answered, “Ah! That’s chocolate! Lady Odette gave this many delicious chocolates and caramels to me! They were really good!”
Although Dennis was older, he was still a child who had lived through poverty, and this was the first time he had touched chocolate.
Hearing that Odette had given chocolates and caramels to Adrian caused jealousy to rise within the boy. He clenched his hand into a tight fist due to anger, and his eyes had turned to become colder.
“Lady Odette did?” Dennis raised one of his eyebrows.
Oblivious to the intentions of the boy before him, Adrian spoke out, “Yeah, she did. Lady Odette made me go through some special training, and when I was able to do them successfully, she rewarded me with lots of chocolates and caramels! Oops! I was not supposed to mention to you about it! Can you keep it a secret, Dennis, or Lady Odette will be getting angry?”
“Go back to sleep now, Adrian. There will be no dinner today,” Dennis lied.
“Eh? No dinner? But why?” Adrian questioned while a disheartened expression formed on his face.
“How do I know? Just shut up and go to bed!
