Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 38
Almost panicked That was the perfect word to describe how Odette felt when she was informed of Adrian’s injury.
In any other cases, such sort of emotions would have brought amusement to her for it was rare and strange. But this time, it did not leave a same sensation within her.
A part of her although it was tiny wanted to reconsider letting Adrian go through all of this and protect him.
That felt frightening to Odette. All of this evoked terrible memories within her that Odette craved to lock away at the back of her mind. At that instant, those parts of her persisted to show up at the surface.
Gripping tightly on to her bedsheets, Odette tried to hold in her anger and suppress her desire to meet the young boy. She had a feeling that something within her would snap if she saw him in his weak moment right now, and Odette did not want that.
Even if she craved for thrill and unexpected things, this was one thing she was willing to give up all the fun in her life for.
If Odette had to honestly admit it, currently, it was difficult for her to stay seated inside the room. There was an aching desire within her to check up on the boy, but her past held her back from it. Odette did not know whether or not she should be grateful to that.
Gripping tightly on to the pillow that was upon her bed, Odette threw it across her room, and seeing how it pushed the vase off the table, she clutched tightly on to her head.
The vase crashed against the ground, and a loud sound resonated throughout the room. However, that was not enough to distract Odette.
The conflicting feelings that was starting to grow beyond her control intensified, amplifying the annoyance she felt inside of herself.
Odette took out the dagger that she always carried with herself, and holding the blade above her knee, she drove the sharp edge into her knee, hoping that the pain would be distracting her from all the thoughts in her mind.
At that moment, Odette was desperate to do anything to forget about Adrian. She was aware that she was fighting with fire when she decided to revolve her life around Adrian this time around, but it appeared that she had underestimated the intensity of this fire.
A burning ache spread through her thigh while the red blood coloured her crimson dress. Due to the shade of the dress, it was difficult to make out the blood.
Odette very much felt the pain, but it was not enough to drown away her thoughts of Adrian. Even now, she cared more about meeting him than her injured thigh.
A strange thought came in her mind at that moment. She wondered what type of expression she had on her face and guessed that intense desperation would be visible on it; maybe she would have called herself pathetic if she had taken a look in the mirror.
Laughs escaped from Odette’s mouth as she fell back on her bed, and raising her hand, she covered her face with her hand, not knowing what to do with her emotions any longer.
“Odette Albinius, if you were not crazy enough before, you are really getting crazy now,” she spoke out.
The little boy opened his eyes, and as the bright light hit the sensitive layer of his eye, he squinted his eyes slightly, trying to adjust to the lighting.
Adrian recalled about how he brought to the infirmary, and after the doctor had a look at his leg, he bandaged it. Feeding Adrian some medicines, the doctor left to do his own task, leaving Adrian to his own devices, and soon after that, Adrian had fallen asleep.
As the five year old boy attempted to sit up on the bed, a sharp pain went through his ankle, and a wince escaped from his mouth. It appeared that he would not be able to move his leg for now.
Hearing the noise, the doctor turned his head to face Adrian, and getting up from his chair, he made his way towards Adrian. Raising his head, Adrian stared at the doctor.
“Doctor, my leg hurts still now,” Adrian spoke out while a pout formed on his face.
“Your leg will be taking about a week to heal,” the doctor spoke out, “if you are able to refrain yourself from doing anything strenuous.”
“A week? That’s so long. By the way, Doctor, did Lady Odette come to visit me? I want to see her,” Adrian voiced out.
At that moment, Adrian was in pain, and the person he was most close to was Odette Albinius. It was natural for him to crave to be near her at that moment.
Shaking his head, the doctor voiced out, “Lady Odette had left instructions on how to take special care of you. However, she did not come to visit you.”
It fell in the doctor’s eyes on how the five year old boy’s mood went down further after hearing that, and he added, “It is not exactly appropriate for a Lady to casually visit you at the infirmary.”
“Oh,” Adrian, “Maybe that’s why, she did not come. When can I get out of the infirmary, Doctor? I want to see Lady Odette.”
“About that, I don’t know. I will have to wait for her orders before I can let you go out from here,” the Doctor spoke out.
Hiding behind the curtains beside Adrian’s bed was a young girl by the age of seven. A set of emotions went on her face while she listened in on the conversation. At the end, she was not able to hold herself from paying him a visit.
‘Odette, this much should be fine.’
