Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 39
“Lady Odette, I was really sad. You did not come to visit me when I got hurt,” Adrian said, “But I understand. Doctor told me on how inappropriate it was for you to visit me at the infirmary.”
Both of them were currently in Odette’s seating area in her garden, and although it was customary for Adrian to stand up, she let the boy sit down.
Maybe because of how inconvenient it would be if Adrian injured his ankle further Odette had done it; she was not exactly sure of her intentions behind doing so.
Her feelings towards the five year old was turning more and more confusing as they spent more time together, and the puzzle was starting to make Odette annoyed.
Probably things would be better if she just ignored him. But that was not possible for her; she was unable to give up on him. Her reason for being interested in him seemed to be conflicting as well.
At one point, amusement did not seem to fit the answer to why she was doing all this in Odette’s mind.
“That wound is not a big deal; you will be getting injuries worse than that in the future,” Odette spoke out her tone being colder than usual. Her current feelings contributed to that.
Nonetheless, remaining oblivious to that, a wide grin formed on Adrian’s face while he nodded his head and stated, “I know that! Since I am going to be a hero, I know that I have to go through more pain. Although it’s scary, I can do it.”
“That’s nonsensical. You will see how ugly the dream you find pretty to be now will turn out,” Odette mumbled before audibly adding, “About the duel that was to be held between you and Dennis, Dennis is the winner now.”
The joy and spark from those blue eyes of his disappeared. They widened to display the shock in them, and his pink lips parted widely.
“Eh!? But why? This is not fair!” Adrian complained his bottom lip protruding forward, causing a pout to form upon his face.
“With your ankle injured, you had no way of entering, and I have already mentioned before how it can not be postponed,” Odette spoke out, “It is your fault for not taking care of yourself properly; I told you to be on guard always.”
Rubbing the back of his head, Adrian had a sheepish smile upon his face before he said, “I was happy at that moment, and it just slipped out of my mind. I won’t do it again.”
“What happened was not an accident, Adrian,” Odette spoke out, “Someone plotted it against you, so that they can benefit from your injury. As for your careless action, you will be punished from it.”
Although Adrian was clueless on the intentions behind the expressions Odette showed most of the time, from the smile that formed on her face now, he could guess that the punishment would not be anything he would find pleasant.
“Who did it?” Adrian questioned.
It did not make sense to him on why anyone would purposely try to injure him. Although people present at here was not exactly that friendly, he could not think of anyone who could possibly harm him.
“As for that, do it on your own, Adrian. You are a smart boy; you will be able to do it on your own,” Odette stated, “You will have to suffer from worse things if you don’t.”
Her words caused Adrian’s eyes to widen due to horror, and he said, “Lady Odette, don’t be mean. This is scary. Who did it?”
“I am not going to tell you. That person is really close to you. He is not more smart than you. So, as long as you stay on guard, you will be able to deal with it. This is your punishment,” Odette spoke out while wearing a smiling expression.
