Odette’s chest constricted painfully, causing her to jolt out of her bed. Her dreamless sleep was disrupted by the pain that spread through her body, and Odette knew that this was due to the effect of the poison.

She could feel the pain permeating through her entire being as the poison spread. The burning sensation travelled through her, making it difficult for her to breath.

Regardless of how many times she had gone through it, this was difficult to deal with, and Odette did not think that she would be able to get used to it.

Unable to hold it in, a loud scream escaped from her mouth. As heat formed within her body, sweat glistened on top of head, and it slid down her forehead.

In her mind, Odette counted the time, waiting for the pain to stop. But the intense ache which was worse than the last time made it hard for her to concentrate on that.

The loud screams managed to reach the ear of the five year old, and finding that voice to be familiar, creases appeared between both of his eyebrows. Turning towards his left, Adrian raised his head and stared at Annie.

While curiosity showed in his eyes, Adrian questioned, “Who is screaming?”

In a low tone, Annie bent down slightly and spoke out, “That’s Lady Odette. This is something you should stay out of, Adrian, if you don’t want to get in trouble. Although Lady Odette might appear harmless to you, that’s not how she is. She is a monster.”

Hearing Odette being referred to as a monster caused Adrian to furrow his eyebrows, and while a frown formed upon his features, he said, “Lady Odette is not a monster. She is really good to me. Why is she screaming? It sounds as if she is pain.”

“Just because she is good to you doesn’t mean anything. Adrian, you can’t be naive at here. She has a motive behind it, and as for why she is screaming, no one knows for sure.

But according to the rumours going around, it is because she is being poisoned by her mother. People at here are truly insane, and when this happens, Lady Odette is not at the best of moods.

That’s why, it would be best for you to stay away from her. Don’t go near her bedroom. She will kill you if she finds you there,” Annie expressed.

Her words caused Adrian to widen his eyes, and his eyes reflected the shock he felt. His lips parted slightly.

“Why would her mother poison her? Isn’t that terrible? No mother does that,” Adrian spoke out his voice holding slight anger.

“There are many speculations behind it, but nothing is confirmed so it is better to not talk about it. Those from the Albinius family is twisted, so you can’t get attached to them. This is just a trap, Adrian,” Annie voiced out seriously.

Adrian gave no reply to her.

Despite of Annie’s warnings, Adrian slipped out of his room. Although Annie made it clear to him on how Odette was, Adrian did not see any malice in her.

Everytime she screamed due to pain, his chest tightened, and he felt sad. Adrian wanted to check upon Odette to see how she was more after hearing how her mother poisoned her.

If that was the case, Odette must be really sad, and Adrian wanted to be there to comfort the girl. Therefore, mustering up all of his courage, he walked towards her room.

Adrian stared at the door before him. Extending his hand towards the knob of the door, he managed to hold it. Due to his short height, he had to stand upon his toes in order to do it.

Pulling the door open, he stared at the girl inside the room.
