Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 42
The sound of the door opening reached into Odette’s ears, but the pain made her believe that she was only imagining it. There was no way someone was going to enter in her room now.
No one ever entered in.
As the ache seared through her body, the sound of footsteps reached into her ear, making her doubtful of her precious judgement. Nevertheless, the constant pain made it hard for her to do so.
Coughs escaped from her mouth, coloring the sheets red, and everytime she coughed, her chest squeezed painfully. Tears flowed down her eyes while her throat burned painfully.
Observing the girl before him, Adrian could easily see how she was in pain, and not being find of that, he made hurried steps towards the girl. The dark room made it difficult for him to discern the features.
Nevertheless, he could see the distraught expression on Odette’s face while a frown sat on her countenance. Her hand gripped tightly on to the material of her clothing near to her chest while her other hand was clutched around her neck.
Her features was sickly ashen, and her hair was at a dishevelled state. This was the first he had seen the girl, who always carried herself with grace, at such a messy state.
There were a lot of things that the five year old Adrian did not understand. Nevertheless, it was not hard for him to notice how much Odette was suffering.
“Lady Odette,” Adrian enunciated in a low voice as he stood beside him.
Her furrowed his eyebrows as the girl tilted her head, and from her widened eyes, he could see that she was surprised before a chuckle escaped from her mouth.
“Adrian?” she spoke out, “There is no way that could be possible. I must be h-hallucinating.”
Speaking at that instant was difficult for her. Everytime a word left her mouth, Odette felt as if her chest was being pierced by something sharp.
“Oh, Lady Odette,” he said, “I am really here.”
As if wanting to let her know about his presence here, Adrian extended his hand towards the girl and placed his palm on top of her hand.
Feeling such warmth and concern was a foreign for Odette Albinius, and with Adrian at here, she did not know how to react. Maybe the physical pain within her body did not decrease, but she felt better.
Before she could think of anything more, another wave of pain went through Odette, and a scream escaped from her mouth. More blood left her body through her coughs, and Odette squeezed on to the boy’s hand tightly.
“Lady Odette, you must be in lots of pain, right? I don’t like seeing you this way, but it’s okay. The pain will go way. I will pray for the pain to leave you,” Adrian spoke out as the tears formed at the corner of his eyes.
“Hmm,” Odette responded before more screams left her mouth. Adrian’s presence here was truly comforting.
