Seeing the small animal before him caused giggles to escape from Adrian’s mouth. His eyes brightened up in awe while the corner of lips curved to form a wide smile.

Crouching down, he extended his hand towards the cat, and with hopeful eyes, he waited for the cat to come towards him. Staring back at Adrian with its blue eyes, the white cat remained rooted to its place.

Seeing that, a frown was starting to form at Adrian’s face, and his bottom lip protruded forward while his eyes stared at the ground.

“The cat won’t come to me,” Adrian spoke out.

Standing beside him was Dennis, and his actions caused the boy to let out a subtle scoff. Odette Albinius stood before the boys, and two cats laid beside her foot, who occasionally moved a little while playing with their ball yarns.

“Adrian, stand up,” Odette ordered.

It was not difficult to notice how Odette’s voice was softer with Adrian, and Dennis, who tend to pick up on things rather quickly, found himself being angered at that.

Pursing both of lips together, he clenched his hand into a tight fist while he gritted his teeth. To him, Adrian was now more of an eyesore than he was in the past, and seeing how Odette was starting to favour him, Dennis wanted nothing more than to get rid of Adrian.

The way Dennis’ eyes darkened was not missed by Odette, and the corner of her lips curved upwards at that. Having her desired reaction upon his face caused her to feel satisfied.

Following her words, Adrian nodded his head and did as she ordered him before asking, “Lady Odette, how do I make the cat come to me? It doesn’t seem to like me.”

“You will be learning that later on,” Odette spoke out, “Let’s play a little game. I will giving both of you these cats to take care for about a month. You can do whatever you want with the cat.

However, the one whose cat dies at the end of the month will be punished severely, alright? There is no rules or restrictions to this game, so do whatever you want to.”

It has been around six month both of them arrived at the ducal household now. Over this period of time, Odette could see how both of them became more mature.

Adrian learned how to understand situations better although he wasn’t that good at it and it appeared that he hadn’t lost his innocence yet. Even if he hated Dennis by now, Adrian confronted him face to face on all the things Dennis did and did not do anything Dennis’ back.

Dennis, on the other hand, became more vicious at least for his age over this period of time. This made Odette feel further satisfied.

Everything was going along with her plans, except for one thing her conflicting emotions towards Adrian. Until now, she hadn’t been able to figure them out, and it seemed that as time passed by, they have become more incomprehensible.

However, regardless of how hard she tried, she was unable to let go of Adrian despite the strong of sense of danger she felt from him.
