Second Chance: Raising A Yandere Demon Lord - Chapter 62
Folding her arms over her chest, Odette voiced out, “Why should I help you out? You are big enough to think properly, and since you have jumped off on your own, deal with it by yourself.”
Even though Odette tried to compose her emotions, they had leaked out in her voice, and she found herself being baffled at the lack of control.
Such an unusual thing might interest Odette on most cases, but being vulnerable to the emotions ruined it for Odette.
Although Odette tried to control herself, she was unable to do it in the end, and seeing how weak that made her seem at least at her point of view Odette knew that she had to train herself harder.
Probably it would have been better for her if like a coward, she pushed Adrian away. However, after contemplating for a while, Odette took this to an exciting challenge. After all, things would be too bland if she let go of the boy that easily.
“Lady Odette, please don’t do this. I am really sorry,” he pleaded, “I won’t do it again, so please get me down. I can feel the branch shaking. I am truly scared!”
Odette’s eyes fell on the branch underneath him, and judging from its size, Odette took it to be quite weak. The thought of it collapsing and bringing harm to Adrian brought a certain amount of dread to her.
Letting out a sigh, Odette decided to deal with the boy later on and said, “Come a little forward.”
Unlike what Odette had presumed beforehand, Adrian’s weight was too much for her. Once she had pulled him in, Odette was unable to maintain balance any longer, and as she fell back on the floor, the five year old landed upon her.
A sharp pain went through her head and back as they came in contact with the solid surface, and a groan left her mouth at that.
Feeling Adrian’s weight upon her, she opened her eyes gradually as she found it difficult to breathe. Despite the boy’s stature, he weighed quite a lot.
“Get off,” Odette said.
At her words, Adrian immediately got up from her body and stood up. Pressing her palms upon the floor, Odette sat on ground before standing.
While fixing her clothing and hair, Odette wondered why she had gotten into the hassle of rescuing him herself. This surely would have been much less troublesome if she had gotten someone else to do it for her.
Probably the moment she heard how the branch was close to giving up, Odette lost her ability to think clearly briefly and did such a thing.
The idea of rescuing someone herself was foreign to Odette. She knew that she would not have never opted for it if it was someone other than Adrian.
“Are you fine, Lady Odette? I am sorry. I did not mean to fall upon you,” Adrian voiced out, “And thank you for getting me off of that branch. It was frightening, but, Lady Odette, you rescued me.”
Suddenly, Odette’s mind went blank. She had forgotten about how she wanted to scold and punish him.
Looking how the boy wasn’t injured, strangely enough, a calming sensation passed through Odette almost as if she was relieved that he was not hurt.
A small smile formed on her face which was quite close to a genuine one as she extended her hand towards him and patted the top of his head.
