Second Life: Welcome to Gaia - Chapter 67: Beach Boys's secret weapon
‘We are fucked!’ This is the only thought in the mind of some of the Beach Boys team players.
When they entered the fighting area of the inner courtyard and looked at the opponent team, they noticed their equipment that was full of traces of silver or bronze.
They knew the other team was good because they had got the first clear of a hell mode dungeon but they didn’t think it was this good.
While the other team is using silver equipment, they still have many pieces of wood quality equipment and the best pieces they use are only bronze.
What they didn’t know is that Ye Yan and the others had got two hell mode first clears and not one. Because of this, their equipment is much better than they thought.
The system announcement about the first clear of a dungeon is only heard by those in the region, thus they don’t know about the other first clear’s teams, except by the Proud Wanderers team.
The Proud Wanderers Guild is backed by a Chinese multinational company that is paying a high salary for its main team for them to get as many first clears as possible. With this, they also promote their company and its products in a win-win situation for the team and company.
Because of the great advertising campaign, many Chinese and non-Chinese people know about the team.
While Proud Wanderers’ team got five first clears so far and is known as the best team in Yan Empire, Immortals Guild is only known by the people of City of Ji and Tientsin City or Beijing and Tianjin in the real world. And both cities don’t know they got the first clear of the other city.
That’s why they need to publicize their guild and achievements, so more people will know about them and want o to enter their guild.
“They just got one first clear. Maybe they were lucky when they got it. We can’t have defeatist thoughts now. We can’t know what will happen without fighting.” Sharknado, their team leader, tried to motivate the other members of his team.
“Yeah! At least we can vent on them. And don’t forget, we have our secret weapon!” Silver Surfer remembered the others.
“We really have to use this? It can affect us as well…” A team member said.
“But we will be prepared for it, while they don’t,” Sharknado said.
“Are you ready? We are counting on you if things aren’t going well.” Sharknado said to Weapon of Mass Destruction, the player responsible for using their secret weapon.
“I’m more than ready. I’m ready to give it a go right now.” Weapon of Mass Destruction told the others.
“No! Only when I give you the sign, ok?” Sharknado told Weapon of Mass Destruction.
After both teams met, they bowed to each other as etiquette before the duel and got in position. One team on each side of the fighting area.
After the NPC responsible for judging the duel gave a signal, the battle officially started.
Ye Yan approached the other team, jumping in the middle of them when he was near enough, and used [Roar] to attract every attack to him.
When a skill like Roar or Provoke is used, the players need to attack the player. If they are casting a spell or using a skill, those attacks would be directed at the player which used the provoking skill.
And if melee players didn’t use a skill, their bodies will be attracted to the other players as if the is a metal and the other, a super magnet. While the ranged classes need to attack or use a spell or they will be paralyzed from rage for 10 seconds.
As the attracting effect of [Provoke] has a reduced duration compared with the effect on the attack and defense, don’t attack the player that used the skill is not worthwhile.
So, when Ye Yan used [Roar], every member of the other team, including the doctors, attacked him at the same time, because all of them were in the area of effect of the skill.
As Ye Yan activated [Iron Skin] almost at the same time he used [Roar], the attacks wouldn’t kill him on the spot and it would give the doctors enough time to heal him.
While Ye Yan was in the middle of the enemies, Arshadalon approached the melee players from their left side with his large shield raised, and start to push and group them next to Ye Yan.
The physical class players that tried to attack from a distance were soon pushed to a position between Ye Yan and Ashardalon.
Because of his strength and choosing lighter pieces of equipment compared with normal tanks, Ye Yan’s equipment load kept under 25% of the total, which enabled him to use his full speed. This, plus his agility and equipment, made Ye Yan move very fast, taking their enemies by surprise.
But they soon recovered and started to put a distance between them, while attacking with everything they got.
However, every member of the immortals’ team is a highly-skilled player and didn’t give the other party a chance.
Ye Yan was fighting more than one player at the same time, using his upgraded folding fan and glove. Sometimes he even punching a player while slashing another at the same time.
And, as he wanted to test his weapon’s new functions, he shook his fan in an enemy doctor’s direction, firing poisoned needles on him. The doctor didn’t get poisoned but took a huge amount of damage from the skill.
Sadly, Ye Yan can only use the skill one time because it needs a recharge and he didn’t have time to do this during this battle.
And when the doctor would heal himself, Ye Yan dodged the fighters’ attacks and threw his open fan at the doctor, slashing his right arm, and pulling it back soon after.
When the doctor thought he was safe and could finally heal himself, Mage of the Cold Nights cast [Ice Bolt] on him, finishing him off.
The other doctor doesn’t even have time to act when his friend died not far from him. He had just used [Heal] on another player and could only use skills that required touch, thus he hadn’t time to get to him before it was too late.
I Love Skooma approached the mage farther to the right and attacked him using his dagger. He looked like a machine with both hands in perfect sync, not giving enough time for the mage to use a spell.
As the mage doesn’t have the [blink] spell, he can only run, trying to get away from him. But sadly for him, he got a [Arrow on the Knee] fired by Harpy and become incapable to run, turning into easy prey for I Love Skooma.
The other members of the Beach Boys team weren’t having a good time either. They looked more like sandbags in the hands of the Immortals’ team.
The situation of a werecat mage, in particular, provoked pity in the players watching the battle.
He was uglier than any wet cat they have ever seen because of the [Water Ball] cast by Hello Kitty and soon turned into barbecue after the [Lightning Bolt], almost getting ready to eat by those that have this kind of preference.
Even Spell Bound that was so excited watching the battle that looked like a cheerleader, started to take pity on him.
The Beach Boys’ players started to only think about venting as much as possible on them and forget to protect the only doctor of the team, that was suffering under the attacks of Conan, Harpy, Demon Fox, and mage of the Cold Nights.
Under the focus fire of four players, the doctor didn’t last even 5 seconds and died.
Everything happened so fast that when Sharknado noticed their situation was bad, two doctors had died.
As the situation was almost hopeless, he gave a sign for Weapon of Mass Destruction to use their secret weapon. he didn’t want to use this because they will suffer as well, but it is the only way they thought would give them enough time to attack the opposite team.
They probably wouldn’t win, but he is confident that they can kill at least one player after using their secret weapon.
When Weapon of Mass Destruction saw the Sharknado’s sign, he gave a very malicious smile that provoked goosebumps in all his teammates.
For their secret weapon to be more effective, they need to group immortal’s members close to each other, thus after the signal, they started to lead the Immortals’ players to the place closer to the mages.
This was a suicide tactic but they only want revenge now. So, under the attack of the enemies’ party, they got to group the Immortals’ players.
Ye Yan noticed what their enemies were doing and thought they would use a large-scale spell because they can’t use items in a duel.
As large-scale spells have a long cast time and can be stopped using skills, he thought about taking advantage of everyone being in the same place and finishing off the other team.
But things didn’t happen as he thought they would and they suffered under the devasting attack of Weapon of Mass Destruction.
