Second Life: Welcome to Gaia - Chapter 86: BOOMerang Hat
After getting ready for anything the Crazy Rabbit might do, Ye Yan started attacking again.
He used his open folding fan to slash against the monster, together with punches from his left hand and kicks that do not do much damage but could help a little.
However, the rabbit was fighting similarly to Ye Yan, or more accurately, the rabbit was fighting like a kangaroo, attacking with punches and kicks.
Suddenly, the rabbit jumped back and yawned like a lion. Meanwhile, Ye Yan didn’t stop his attacks. He threw his fan at the Crazy Rabbit while still holding it by the wire and performing attacks from a distance.
When the rabbit yawned, nothing happened. He just stood there while being a punching bag for Ye Yan. However, at the moment the rabbit yawned, Ye Yan received a system notification.
System: Congratulations, you are naturally immune to yawn. Your mind is naturally immune to low-level hypnotic skills.
Ye Yan has heard about yawn being like low-level hypnosis and if people have an urge to yawn after seeing someone doing it, they could be hypnotized. Maybe, it’s true, at least in the game it is.
Being naturally immune to hypnotic skills is a good thing. At least, he will not need to worry about it in the future, as it looks like there are such skills in the game.
Noting that the skill was ineffective against Ye Yan, the Crazy Rabbit didn’t try to use it again and soon started o attack, but this time, he put his right hand, or paw, on his lower back and took a teacup from who knows where and threw it at Ye Yan.
Maybe the rabbit has a pocket that works as a space bag on his clothes, and that’s why he could take such a thing out of nowhere like that. It is better to think like that, as the game has such things, unlike the old Batman tv series where the hero takes a shield from his behind and anyone with a little imagination knows from where it came from.
The Rabbit started to throw one teacup after another at Ye Yan, who was dodging them easily, despite the speed in which the rabbit was throwing them.
While dodging, Ye Yan keeps approaching the Crazy Rabbit, ready to fight at a close distance, which he excels in because of his real-life experiences and abilities.
Ye Yan keeps deflecting the Rabbit’s attacks with his fan and left hand while hitting him at the same time with his free limbs, but the Crazy Rabbit is too strong, and even if he deflect his attacks, Ye Yan takes some damage.
Feeling his health points lowering, Ye Yan starts to get away from the rabbit for him to drink a health potion and think about what he should do next because if the fight continues in the same way it was, he will run out of health potions and will die soon after.
However, the Crazy Rabbit didn’t give him time to do more than drink a single potion. The rabbit took his hat from his head and threw it at Ye Yan like a fucking boomerang.
With a single glance at the hat coming in his direction, Ye Yan knew that it was not like the teacups the rabbit threw at him before. This knowledge didn’t come from the speed of the hat or the blades in its brim but the lights emanating from it.
The hat looks like a bomb that is ready to explode at any time.
When the rabbit threw his hat, the four cards symbols started to glow in sequence, like a roulette wheel. But soon, it stopped, and the black club was the only one still glowing.
When the hat with the glowing black club got near Ye Yan, it exploded like a powerful bomb, throwing stones and dust everywhere.
Luckily, Ye Yan didn’t wait to be blown into pieces. When he noticed the strange lights in the hat, he threw his fan at a tree branch not very far from him and pulled the wire at the same time he jumped, for him to get as far away as he could from the place he was before.
When he saw the result of the explosion, Ye Yan feels cold sweat run down his body. The explosion created a crater in the place he was previously. If he took a second longer to get out of there, he would be in Hell by now eating soup.
He congratulated himself for his quick thinking while starting to run from the tree and in the rabbit’s direction, taking advantage of the fact that the Crazy Rabbit went retrieve his hat next to the crater.
He activated his Lucky Hit skill and started to use Bash to deal as much damage as possible on the rabbit.
As Ye Yan decided to put his base points in strength and agility evenly, the power of the skill wasn’t as powerful as it could be if he had more strength but his attack speed compensated for his lack of strength.
Now, Ye Yan can perform one attack every second. This attack speed is already fast for normal people but for someone like Ye Yan, it is slow. In real life, his speed is faster than in the game and because of this, he feels like his body is heavy in the game.
When people are trained to perform certain actions at high speed, they can reach inhuman numbers. An example of this is the mechanics of F1 Races, which can change the four tires of a car in only 1.82 seconds[1].
And Ye Yan has trained his body to fight very fast. His punches are powerful but what makes him more deadly is his speed, in which he can perform many attacks at the same time others could do just one.
Up until now, Ye Yan always feels like something is holding him while fighting, and because of this, he can’t perform his best. Even his body being the same as it is in real life, his speed isn’t, so he can break his limits in the game and perform things he couldn’t in real life for his lack of experience, but at the same time, he knew he can do better than this if it was in real life.
After many years of using his body to fight, any change of it can represent a huge difference in his combat abilities.
As he chose he keep his body as it is in real life, the difference is just in the speed. It means a lot in the game but if he chose another race of body shape, it could be much worse than it is now, mainly when dodging and deflecting attacks because he knows exactly how far he can reach and the little moves he can do to dodge.
If his body were a little different, he wouldn’t be able to do that because he would have to not only get used to his new body but also train it until he could perform moves almost on instinct without problems. And it would take a lot of time to reach, the time he didn’t have.
His friends asked him why he chose to be a human when he could be anything else in a game in which you can choose from dwarves and elves to a fucking Dragonborn. He knew that he would suffer from it because everybody looks down on humans but for an experienced fighter like him, stay in a body he is used to is his greatest advantage in the game.
And he decided to change all the glory and beauty of other races for this advantage he has in using his own body.
When the Rabbit took his hat back, Ye Yan started to get away from him again, but always staying near enough for him to attack with his fan and not very far from the tree for him to use it to escape because who knows when the rabbit will use his BOOMerang hat again.
Ye Yan threw his fan and started swinging it to slash the Crazy Rabbit. He dealt a good amount of damage in this way. However, the rabbit soon threw his hat again, but this time, the was that stayed glowing at the end, was the red heart.
When the hat got near Ye Yan, it emanated a white light that healed Ye Yan instead of taking damage. And he only knows it because the range of his healing skill is bigger than the explosion, or else, he would lose the chance.
Because of this skill, Ye Yan understood how the hat works. It is a gamble hat that can deal damage or help the enemy, however, he doesn’t know the odds of something good happening instead of bad. He can only pray to when it reach him the next time, it will be something good.
