Second World - Chapter 1902. Pilot Mode
Chapter 1902. Pilot Mode
Wilted and the others already knew Leviathan could change into this form. Despite their knowledge, they still creased their foreheads. Like Jeanny’s team when they saw Mammon’s transformation, Wilted’s team also couldn’t help but feel anxious due to the suffocating aura exuded by Leviathan. The devil had become much stronger after the transformation.
Paytowin and Joe could no longer stay on Leviathan’s body. They could approach to land melee attacks, but they couldn’t stay for long. This was because the mists around Leviathan’s body had turned into a radioactive field. All within melee range would suffer damage. This damage increased the longer they stayed within melee range. Only the Remoron Bugs were immune to this radioactive field. They now returned to hide inside Leviathan’s armors.
“Well, ready or not. Here I come!” Leviathan exclaimed. He opened his jaws, and a bright bluish-white beam shot out.
Paytowin had landed back on the Omega Battle Mech’s shoulder. The Omega Battle Mech advanced while everyone else retreated. This was to lure Leviathan into attacking the battle mech first.
Wilted had informed everyone about the danger of Leviathan’s radioactive breath. It dealt massive soul damage.
Paytowin was ready. He had his hand on the battle mech’s neck. “Boson Shield!” He exclaimed. The surface where his hand touched glowed with electric currents.
An oval translucent shield appeared in front of the Omega Battle Mech. The radioactive breath slammed into this shield. The shield trembled heavily under the pressure, and so did the Omega Battle Mech. Paytowin had to use two hands to grab the battle mech’s shoulder plate to keep himself steady.
The Boson Shield lasted a while but ultimately dimmed before dispersing altogether. The radioactive beam crashed into the Omega Battle Mech. The battle mech used two arms to block the blast but was pushed a long way back. Damage numbers incessantly popped up above its head.
Luckily, the Boson Shield had reduced more than half of the radioactive breath’s power. Even so, the Omega Battle Mech lost almost twenty percent of its HP.
“The mech’s HP is below fifty percent now. Do it, George!” Wilted called.
“Let me use my other two skills first!” Paytowin exclaimed
His level 70 skill was Delta Station. The skill summoned a hovering battle station at a static location. He placed this delta station near Leviathan. Upon appearing, the delta station applied a trap effect in a large area around it. Every enemy within its AOE lost mobility for a few seconds. The station itself was equipped with energy guns and cannons that bombarded nearby enemies.
Allies with ranged attacks could enter this delta station and attack from inside. The station had a barrier that prevented hostile attacks from entering, similar to the barrier protecting the mobile fortress. Allies who entered the station received a boost to their attack range.
Anotherday and Joe planned to enter this delta station, but Paytowin placed it too close to Leviathan. So, they stayed away for now. They sent ranged attacks from a safe distance.
The delta station’s guns and cannons opened fire at Leviathan, who was still under the trap effect from the station. Normal enemies would need five seconds to recover from the mobility-neutralization effects, but Leviathan could move again after only two seconds.
Leviathan looked at the delta station. He swung his tail and slammed it into the station. The barrier protecting the station flickered. Leviathan’s eight tentacles grabbed the station. They wrapped around the station and tightened. The barrier flashed brightly as it resisted the tentacles’ pressure.
While Leviathan wrestled with the delta station, another huge object descended from the sky. Those who had seen Paytowin use Mothership Bombardment would think he was using that skill now. The spaceship that appeared might look the same as the one from that skill. However, this was a different skill. While Mothership Bombardment was an offensive skill, this was a summoning skill.
The spaceship that appeared was from Heavenly Mech Warrior’s level 80 skill, Mothership Sigma. The spaceship was not here to deliver only a few rounds of attacks like Mothership Bombardment. It stayed. If it was not destroyed, it would last for an hour.
Mothership Sigma began its assault by firing its main cannon, which it never used when Paytowin used Mothership Bombardment. The main cannon discharged a bright beam laced with blue lightning. This beam slammed into Leviathan’s titanic body and pushed him away.
Leviathan ignored the assault. He didn’t let go of the Delta Station. The station in his tentacles’ grip was dragged away following him.
Mothership Sigma continued its assault by firing a volley of missiles and a barrage of gunshots from the various arsenals all over its body. It also had multiple cannons that fired intense plasma rays.
Leviathan suffered damage from all these attacks, but not that much. After the transformation, his defense, which was already superb, had improved further. He continued applying pressure on the Delta Station, which now showed many cracks in its walls. Its barrier had weakened to the lowest point.
With a violent outburst, Leviathan bit the Delta Station. This was the final straw. The Delta Station finally gave in. It snapped. Leviathan’s eight tentacles split the station by pulling it apart in eight different directions.
Anotherday and Joe, who saw the scene, were glad they didn’t enter the Delta Station. They stayed near the mothership and used it as cover while they continued sending ranged attacks. Wilted did the same. She also had standard ranged attacks, even if not as strong as the others.
The mothership released another of its weapons as Leviathan turned his attention to it. Multiple triangle-shaped interceptors flew out of the mothership and started flying around Leviathan at high speed while shooting at him. Leviathan’s tentacles slapped around to catch these interceptors. One was destroyed with a slap. The others swerved around in evasive maneuvers. They were as if flies flying around the devil.
While Leviathan was busy, Paytowin went to the front of the Omega Battle Mech’s chest. He touched the center of the chest, which looked like a power core. That power core opened up and showed what looked like a cockpit. He entered that cockpit.
Either one of two conditions was needed before this cockpit could be accessed. The first was if the Omega Battle Mech reached the last hour of its three-hour duration. The second was if the Omega Battle Mech’s HP decreased to half.
After Paytowin entered the cockpit, the chest closed again. Afterward, a color transformation happened to the Omega Battle Mech. Before, its color was dominated by dark blue. Now, it had become pure white. There was even a soft glow all over the mech’s surface as if it was emitting light.
The battle mech’s power output increased once it entered this pilot mode. Paytowin had full control over this mech now. The ring of light on its back flared even brighter as it burst and sent the mech charging forward.
The Omega Battle Mech had several skills, but it needed Paytowin’s access before it could use these skills. That’s why previously, Paytowin had to touch the mech before it used the Electron Blades and the Boson Shield. Paytowin was now using another of its skills while it charged forward, the Hadron Launchers.
The Omega Battle Mech’s shoulder pads opened, revealing rows of launchers. Countless missiles were fired from these launchers. The fired missiles were coated with blue light. They left traces of light as they flew in random patterns.
The missiles from the Hadron Launchers evaded the interceptors buzzing around Leviathan. They exploded after hitting Leviathan’s body. The devil was soon covered by unending explosions as each missile detonated.
A roar of anger resounded from inside the explosion. Leviathan didn’t expect his transformation to not only fail to surprise his opponents, but they could still cause him trouble.
The Omega Battle Mech arrived then. It punched with its fist equipped with the electron blade. The power of the punch boosted by the charge sent Leviathan reeling back. Paytowin didn’t let up. He punched repeatedly to keep Leviathan at bay while the others, his mothership, and the interceptors continued sending barrages of range attacks.
“Insolent fool!” Leviathan roared. His tentacles slapped into the Omega Battle Mech and stopped its assault. He lunged forward to take a bite using his enormous mouth, but the Boson Shield appeared in his path. He crashed into the energy shield. Finndd the new𝒆st 𝒏ovels on n/𝒐/velbin(.)com
The shield couldn’t stop attacks from all directions, though. Two of Leviathan’s tentacles slipped in from the side and caught the battle mech’s arms. They wrapped around those arms and refused to let go. The other tentacles came. Leviathan was trying to repeat what he did to the Delta Station. He wanted to tear the Omega Battle Mech apart.
The Omega Battle Mech started glowing. Leviathan felt the mana built up within the battle mech but refused to let go. He was confident his improved defense could tank whatever assault the battle mech threw at him. His eight tentacles tightened around the battle mech’s body.
The glow grew until the light engulfed both the Omega Battle Mech and Leviathan, and then everything turned white.
