Secret Killer - Chapter 59
[The new president has been elected. And he has something important to tell to the ‘Secret Killer’ who killed the previous president!]
“Oh? I have become famous,” Leon muttered as though he wasn’t aware of his face as a secret killer.
Leon and Tania went to the living room to hear the announcement.
The screen showed an empty playground and a stage at the center. Some men wearing armored suits and guns in their hands covered the stage.
Then, a black-colored armored car and three gypsies parked near the stage.
After a while, the president came out of the car, followed by his men, and got on the stage.
He noticed the camera on the drone and whispered something in the ears of the man standing near him. The man nodded and walked to the camera. The drone flew higher so it could cover more area.
“Why do they always make dashing entries?” Tania asked Leon.
“You call that dashing?”
Tania nodded in response.
“My dashing is when the bombs explode, and the fire covers the area. And when—”
Tania interrupted Leon and said, “You are referring to the scene from that movie, right?”
“…”
Then, the president glanced around the playground as though he was looking at the citizens standing there, except it was empty.
The president tapped on the mic and took out the note from his pocket.
He cleared his throat and spoke, “Hello, my citizens. I, president C.J, am grateful for your support in the election and for choosing me as your new president.”
It wasn’t as though C.J won the election by the votes, but there was no one standing against him in the opposition. So it was obvious for him to win.
All the nominated presidents dropped out because they were afraid of the secret killer, in other words, Leon.
“I am here to make some things clear,” the president uttered.
“If he tries to remove the purge system, he will be my next target,” Leon uttered in a solemn voice.
“I will be making some changes to the current purge system that we have in this country,” the president asserted.
“…”
Tania glanced at Leon with an anxious look on her face and tried to say something, but the following sentence of the president stopped her from doing so.
“And ‘secret killer’, if you are watching this, and listen carefully.” C.J increased his voice and said in a loud voice, “I won’t be altering your words, and unfortunately, I can’t change them either.”
Leon sighed in relief and grabbed Tania’s hand without noticing it.
“However, I will be adding some stuff,” C.J added.
“This is for all the citizens in my country, and going against this will be considered as an offensive crime. First of all, any crimes or assaults on kids aged below 15 would not be considered legal. So don’t lay your hands on the kids.”
“Now, some of you might be thinking, how will we know even if they harm the kids?” C.J continued, “So, the officers will come by at your doorsteps and review your family conditions within a week after every purge to make sure the kids are okay. And if any of them happen to be dead or missing, then the family will be taken as the first suspect.”
“So kids, don’t go out on the purge night, and parents! Make sure to keep your kids locked into the house for the purge night!” C.J warned.
“And to make this further secure, the government will be adding a CCTV camera on every possible exit of the house. And it will be mandatory for the families to submit the footage of the purge night to their nearest police station.”
“That means they will come here too?” Tania asked Leon with a curious and concerned look on her face.
“I don’t think so.” Leon shook his head and said, “the government already has details about every citizen in the country. So obviously, they also know which family has kids.”
“The purge system was introduced to solve the overpopulation problem,” C.J asserted. “It was introduced to decrease the rates of crimes and criminals, not to increase them.”
“Heh!” Leon smirked and uttered, “That’s an impossible thing to do.”
“Now, this is for you, Secret killer,” C.J looked into the camera and continued, “If you are watching this, then I condemn you.
“If you don’t like the new purge system, then you can come to my house and kill me. I will be waiting in my living room with no guards around me on the purge night.”
“I can’t possibly sleep or rest when my citizens are getting killed outside,” C.J added. “But don’t forget that even if you kill me, the new purge system won’t change. If you kill me, then someone else would be elected as a president.”
“You can’t keep killing them forever, or maybe you can. I don’t know.” After a brief pause, C.J said, “That’s it for today’s speech. And… I promise every citizen that I will make this country a safer and better place for everyone.”
After that, the broadcast was cut off, and the show was back to King’s game.
Tania looked at Leon and asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice: “Will you kill him too?”
“Nay. He seems like a decent man. I can’t risk killing him and bringing another shitty president, you know?” Leon scoffed.
“Alright then, I am leaving.” Leon turned around and prepared to leave, but Taniastopped him by grabbing his sleeves.
Leon looked back at Tania and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Can’t we do it one more time before you leave?” Tania asked with a flushed face.
Leon raised his brows and stared at Tania for a while. Then, he pushed her back on the couch and said, “How can I deny it when you ask me like that?”
Leon’s snake was ready to explore again, and it indeed explored Tania’s cave like a motherfucker for the next two hours.
