Secret Marriage:The Wolf And The Sheep - Chapter 226
Hearing the silence o the other end, Xie Eun slowly placed the phone down and looked at her sheepish looking husband. If she was not mistaken in her understanding then that Lee Jong had just indicated that her husband was somehow involved in this mess of a stalker-ish behaviour.
After trying to defend himself while using his daughter as a shield, Yu Seok grimaced and tried to divert the topic,” Ugh, why don’t I go and rescue that dunderhead first?”
Just then a loud and panicky knocking sound rang at the door and a man’s voice sounded out, “Chairwoman Xie? Please? Are you in there?”
Xie Eun looked at the door recognizing the voice of Agent Joe. Walking to the door, she opened it and saw the man looked as frantic as he sounded and rolled her eyes at the man, letting him in. Before he could start talking, she showed him her hand and ordered him to stay quiet. Shutting his mouth with a snap, the usually dense Agent Joe kept mum and quietly waited at the door.
Xie Eun then turned back to her husband and said,” Hubby.. We will continue this conversation when you have rescued your… friend. And you better have a proper explanation or the two of you will be accompanying each other in jail for the foreseeable future…”
Cursing the man who had just ruined his plans to woo his wife tonight, Yu Seok walked back out of the door with stooped shoulders looking like a man in his fifties instead of twenties. Well, if his Eun-a threw him to the dog house as a punishment for accepting this stupid challenge, then he would just have to treat Lee Jong as a punching bag! Anyway the basta** had been too happy go lucky for a long time!
In an abrupt turn of events, Xie Eun turned from hostile to hospitable towards Agent Joe who gulped and said,” I am sorry, Chairwoman Xie. In spite of you already warning me, I failed in my mission. I actually did lock Lee Jong inside the house like you said but the man escaped later on my watch! I really did not expect for him to do that! I am so sorry.”
Ordering tea, Xie Eun led Agent Joe to sit and asked,” If he is such a mess then why do you have to keep following him? Agent Joe? You are a successful agent and very good at negotiating. So why not take up an another artist?”
Agent Joe looked scandalized at Xie Eun as if she had suggested something taboo and then after gulping said, “That.. I have my own reasons. The thing is he is indeed a difficult artist to manage but he is indeed a genius in his work and dedicated. When he is not trying to look for his next challenge, it is actually very nice to work for him. And he has also always supported me. Even when my mother passed away and I was a mess, he supported me and made all the funeral arrangements. In our entertainment world, most bonds are made with money, but our entire team follows Lee Jong out of loyalty! It is also one of the reasons we find him difficult to restrain. He is usually so head strong that no one can stop him! It is why I have come to you Chairwoman Xie. I don’t know why he has been stalking and harassing you but please let me talk to him and I’ll get him to go to a psychiatrist and if that does not work, I will make him break the contract with your company so that he has to pay you damages and he is so under debt that he has no time to think all this!”
Xie Eun pondered everything that Agent Joe said and thoughtfully tried to piece together this new piece of information about this man. And came to an interesting conclusion. Over the time, she had been able to gather some information about Yu Seok’s time on the streets. Though he was usually reluctant to share much information, he had once told her about a friend who had been with him for a period of time before the two had separated again. She thought back to what Yu Seok had told her, “There was a boy. About a year older than me but behaved younger. He followed me around even when I told him not to. It made no difference even when I scolded him. He was not living on the streets but somewhere around in one of those shoddy houses though he was no better than us. He would bring bread sometimes for us to eat and even though it wasn’t much, he wouldn’t leave me alone until I had some. He followed me around for a few months before he suddenly stopped coming. I figured they had moved away but I guess he could be called a friend I once had. I never did remember about him until you asked..”
With the information that Yu Seok had provided and the way Lee Jong had called Yu Seok a friend, she could only conclude that this was the same person. She could not imagine her husband being so tolerant towards anyone else. But what exactly could the purpose be behind having such a big charade? As the waiter brought in the tea, Xie Eun toyed with her cup and researched Lee Jong as she thought of the discrepancies’ in her husband’s usual modus operandi. Lee Jong was right about one thing, if her Yu Seok had felt that Lee Jong was dangerous to her then that man would already be buried six feet under. It would have made no difference if she could handle or not, Yu Seok would not have risked it.. Now the question was how did this entire scheme begin and why.
And soon the two culprits had returned. Looking like two puppies who knew they had chewed their owner’s new shoes and were feeling sorry, the two grown men walked into the room quietly.
