Secrets of the Universe - Chapter 186
Jake always wondered what a bloodline was?
At what point could it be called a bloodline?
His hypothesis was that a bloodline was the origin of a species or race that differentiated it from other species or races.
Theoretically, everyone had a bloodline. It was akin to DNA. It was an intrinsic concept.
However, a bloodline could only be called a bloodline if it was significantly different from the other species.
For example, a regular demonic beast!
Its bloodline was different from other species. It carried the traits and abilities of its predecessors, containing the genetic information that made it one of its species.
A frog bloodline belonged to a frog. A human bloodline belonged to a human. A whale bloodline belonged to a whale.
It was the single thing that made them part of their species.
Yet, going further to describe a ‘bloodline.’, it became more defined.
A good example was the difference between a demonic beast and a spirit beast!
One of them carried a limit, that was common with the other mortal species. While the other carried a rich heritage buried in its bloodline that safely pushed it above the common mortal limit.
If Jake was to go further, a better example would be the Aztec Royals, the possessors of the Aztec wolf bloodline.
They were the common definition of a bloodline.
This group of royals had a bloodline that could be said to be the mixture of the regular human bloodline and an unknown wolf-type demonic beast’s bloodline.
This was the regular definition of a bloodline. It was based on how different it was from the base bloodline of the species.
The human bloodline had a limit, a visible limit.
The mixture of it with other races’ bloodlines helped expand that limit, as well as grant them unique ability.
This was what a bloodline was to human warriors!
…………………………
A few months ago, it had been certified that Jake wasn’t human. Yet, he had no idea how to go about it.
He had no way to manifest the abilities of his bloodline. He didn’t know what to expect!
So, he ignored them.
However, they seemed to be making waves in his mindscape.
They were busy fighting for superiority in his mindscape, not even caring for their surroundings.
‘What a sad life?’ sighed Jake.
He had begun to understand the cause of the rock explosions. The shockwaves generated from the bloodline clash attacked the floating rocks randomly.
‘Hmmm……that would mean…..,’ Jake trailed.
He ignored the smiling Khaos and flew to the other red door.
‘If the first red door is that bad, then this should be on the same level,’ reasoned Jake.
With Khaos just behind him, the two softly landed on the floating rock which held the second red door.
Not wanting to be blasted again, Jake eyed Khaos, “What is on the other side?”
The latter kept smiling at him, not offering any answer.
It was clear that he wanted to see Jake suffer.
‘This is why there shouldn’t be anyone else like me,’ sighed Jake.
He could barely handle one Khaos. Another one would probably tip his mindset towards insanity.
Focusing on the task at hand, Jake peeked at the door.
Instantly, he got a massive brain shock that brought him to his knees.
A constant stream of knowledge flowed into his brain as he found himself being enlightened, nonstop.
However, this blessing came with its side-effect. The brain shock.
This soul tearing pain was enough to make any man surrender. It felt to Jake like his brain was being torn apart by what he assumed were pieces of enlightenment.
His ethereal body trembled when receiving this pain, ‘This feels too familiar.’
In a massive show of will, Jake dug his fingers into his forehead and removed the stream of knowledge out of his head.
He wasted no time and jumped away from the floating rock.
It turned out that Khaos was even faster than him as the latter was already on the other floating rock, waiting for him with his glib smile.
“Soo…..?” laughed Khaos.
Panting on the ground, Jake eyed Khaos menacingly, “Behind the door are the remnants of all the secrets I banished from my mind during my rebirth process. The door is like my….trashbin, keeping all my erased memories.”
“Yes, but unlike the other door, this one releases a subtle atmosphere that weakens your mind and body. You can see it, can’t you?” mused Jake.
Jake gritted his teeth, “Yes, I can see it.”
He could now understand why his body had been going haywire since. It had been constantly worn down by the two doors.
“How do we solve it?” questioned Jake.
“What do you think?” Khaos threw back.
Examining the door, Jake gave his opinion, “It should be quite simple. We close the door. Since the problem is the regular escape of what is behind the door. Then, we just have to prevent that.”
“Yes,” admitted Khaos in a lackluster manner.
“So, why haven’t you done that? It should have been easy for you to do, isn’t it?” hissed Jake.
“Y–eee-ssss,” trailed Khaos.
“So….”
“So….?”
Jake’s face twitched, “So, why didn’t you do it?!!”
He twirled around, “Don’t be mistaken. Just because I have given up on taking over, doesn’t mean you have control over me.”
When he faced Jake again, a black and white tuxedo suit was already on him, “I have taken the role of a butler!”
‘I knew something was wrong,’ sighed Jake.
Khaos was always doing something.
He tried to understand better, “So, what does this role entail?”
“I will basically be your mindscape butler,” smiled Khaos.
He probably didn’t understand that suits weren’t meant for someone like him.
“Shouldn’t butler…..fix things?” queried Jake.
“Yes,” smiled Khaos.
“…Then why aren’t you fixing this?” sighed Jake.
He was just a step away from face-palming.
“While a butler fixes things, he should make sure not to steal his master’s limelight,” reasoned Khaos.
“This is your spotlight. Be the hero,” chanted Khaos.
Finally, Jake facepalmed!
His alter-ego was beyond help.
However, he wouldn’t stoop to its level.
Jake’s face concentrated on the two massive red doors as he sighed, “Fine, I will do it myself!”
