Sect Leader’s Rise to the top! - Chapter 52
Kai asked Ryu to lie down flat on the bed with his shirt off. With his hand on Ryu’s abdomen, Kai transferred [10 Qi] into his body. Ryu suddenly felt his stomach get scorching hot but he endured the excruciating pain.
When the Qi entered Ryu’s body, Kai activated [Sub-Core Manual] and quickly started forming a core inside of his body. Ryu clenched his teeth in pain as he felt the Qi rolling and rumbling inside of him.
After a few minutes, Kai was done and the new core floated quietly inside of Ryu. Kai had also taken the liberty of transferring the [Modified-Dragon Subduing Law] manual into him as well when the process was completed.
When compared to Mina’s core creation process, this one was a lot faster and probably less painful seeing as Ryu hadn’t passed out from it. Kai’s Qi was now a lot purer and his Qi-manipulation was a lot more efficient.
Ryu took a few deep breaths as he felt the changes inside his body. He could feel the Qi channels throughout his body as well as the core created by Kai. He also felt a sudden deep connection with Kai, very close to what a child would feel towards a parent.
“I’ve imparted my knowledge to you as well. Close your eyes and focus on your core. I will show you how to practice just like what Mina is doing now. The more you practice, the more potential you will gain and the stronger you can become”.
“Disciple had learned, Thank you Master!”, Ryu said as he bowed towards Kai.
Kai ignored his exaggerated behavior and just smiled at him. He then injected [1 Qi] into his body, then showed him how to circulate the Qi Within His body by following the [Modified-Dragon Subduing Law].
Unlike Mina who seemed to be a natural at this, Kai had to show Ryu a few times before he finally got the hang of it. After 39 minutes, Kai got the first notification from Ryu’s [Sub-Core].
=[System notice: [Sub-Core-2] potential stimulated. Limit increased by [1 Qi]
[Sub-Core 2] [Qi 1/11]

Kai looked at the siblings who were now quietly cultivating. Mina was like a snowball quickly getting bigger at a rapid pace. She had dramatically slowed down from her initial fast pace, but compared to Ryu’s speed, she was still quite fast.
The atmosphere in the room was quiet as Lao Ren watched the cultivating siblings in awe. He knew that Internal Cultivators lived for hundreds of years. “If I could just have a fraction of that…”, Lao Ren murmured as he thought of the biggest regret he had in this life of not being able to start a family…
Kai went back to his bed and lied down comfortably. He looked at Lao Ren who now seemed determined. Kai also wanted to turn Lao Ren into a cultivator immediately, but he felt that now wasn’t the right time. He needed this to feel like a privilege or reward. People would appreciate things more when they felt like they worked for them. Also, Kai only had 5 [Sub-Core] slots available. He wanted to be sure that Lao Ren was truly trustworthy before gifting one of the precious slots to him.
Kai closed his eyes and comfortably went back to absorbing the Qi in the air.
Later that evening, Kai asked them both to take a break so they could all have a meal together. Lao Ren had gone out to buy some ingredients and prepared a feast for the group.
“Old Lao, you said you could cook a little…but this is more than a little” Kai said with a voice full of praise.
“Yes, Mr. Lao this roast duck is incredible!”, Ryu chimed in while he shoving a duck leg into his mouth.
“The taste is amazing. I hope you can teach me the recipes one day”, said Mina in a sweet low voice.
“Haha, you’re all too kind. This is just something small that I picked up over the years. Young Mina, I will teach you whatever I know when we have some time”. Lao Ren said as he stroked his short beard and laughed cheerfully.
“Old Lao, You’re too modest” Kai said, “From now on I hope you will be our primary cook. We can do the shopping and cleaning up so save all your energy for cooking…” Kai said as he pulled the plate with the half-eaten roast duck away from Ryu who looked like he was going to finish the whole thing. Ryu quickly ripped off another wing when he saw what Kai was doing, then moved on to another dish.
“Thank you for the praise, My lord, but shopping for the right ingredients is also an important part of the cooking process. I hope you will allow me to continue”
“I see, ingredients are indeed important….Ryu!, don’t finish those dumplings yet, I still haven’t had one!”.
“Master, it would be a shame to only have one dumpling. Rather let me have it so you aren’t tempted by what no longer exists…” Ryu said confidently.
“You little glutton, what kind of reasoning is that?!. I still want to at least taste one…hey…hey hey! leave those pancakes alone!”
Mina gave a small chuckle while watching the scene. She felt a sudden warmth wash over her and tried to fight back the tears.. It had been a long time since she felt this happy.
