Sect Leader’s Rise to the top! - Chapter 64
The siblings discreetly looked over to Old Lao when Kai mentioned cultivation. They felt awkward since Kai hadn’t given Old Lao the ability to cultivate yet.
Kai noticed this and put their worries to rest. “Don’t worry Old Lao, I haven’t forgotten about you. This meeting is mainly to congratulate you as I’ve decided to promote you into an internal cultivator!”
Lao Ren couldn’t hold back the tears when he heard Kai’s world. He quickly kowtowed to Kai despite knowing that he disliked these kinds of acts, but he also felt there was no better way to express his gratitude. “Thank you My, Lord!”
“Old Lao, please. We’re all companions here, you can get up”. Kai helped him up then waited for him to claim down. Once Old Lao was prepared, Kai injected him with 10 Qi and created a [Sub-Core] below his abdomen. The process only took a few minutes, but Lao Ren looked worn out, but his eyes were full of excitement mixed with gratitude.
“Congratulations Old Lao!” Mina said cheerfully”.
“Congratulations Mr. Lao. Master, since Mr. Lao is your third disciple, does that make him our younger martial brother?”
“Ryu…shut up” Mina kicked Ryu away like a rag doll
Kai praised Mina internally as he inspected all three of his disciples.

Mina was making good progress with her Qi pool and was quickly reaching [100 Qi]. This was the limit for the 1st level of Qi-Condensation so she would soon reach the limit of how much she could expand her pool. The real work would be in actually filling it up with Qi.
Kai thought about injecting her with Qi but decided against it. Making things too easy for them would make them complacent and too reliant on him to make any improvements. They had to suffer through the pain of cultivation.
Kai even planned on having a sort of Qi tax from them in the future by siphoning out a small amount of the Qi they collected daily as rent. This would boost his cultivation speed which would ultimately be beneficial for everyone anyway.
Kai showed Old Lao the basics of Core-based cultivation. Once Old Lao was able to circulate the Qi within his body himself, Kai left him alone and watched as his potential slowly increase.
“Good. Each of you can go back to your rooms to cultivate. I’ll register our team at the Hunter’s Association later”
They each left and went off to cultivate, making the house quiet again.
Kai went down to the basement and closed the trap door above him. The space was quite large however it had poor ventilation and was badly lit. “After a few renovations, this place will be perfect”, Kai thought as he sat on the cold ground and pulled out the green crystal he had received from the Qin First Elder.
[Heart-Crystal of [Grade-3] Wind-Elemental ][ 3456 Qi]
“Now then, should I try turning this into a manual?…”, Kai was nervous. This was by far the object with the highest amount of Qi that he had received. Even an elder of a prominent family looked like his heart was being ripped out when Kai took it, so he knew that this item was extremely valuable.
“Whatever manual I get, it will be minimum D-Rank. Since I decided to temporarily hold off on breakthroughs, I can only rely on manuals to get stronger…”
Kai took a deep breath and decided to go for it.
=[Create Manual]=
[Base material [Grade-3] Wind Elemental Heart-Crystal] selected. This will cost [100 Qi]. Do you wish to proceed?]
Kai was shocked by the increased Qi requirement. Kai was still only able to gather about [4 Qi] an hour so [100 Qi] would take him over 25 hours of cultivation just to recover.
“Killing beasts doesn’t seem so bad anymore…” Kai thought as he accepted the system’s prompt. A D-Rank skill was just too good to pass up.
The Crystal glowed faintly before breaking into motes of light that swirled around the dark basement, illuminating it in various colors. They quickly formed back into the shape of a scroll that floated down into Kai’s hands.
“It’s here!, D-Rank Scroll manual!”. Kai knew that it would be D-Rank but could not help being inwardly disappointed that it didn’t become a C-Rank. However, he quickly got these greedy thoughts out of his mind. “I was prepared for a D-Rank anyway, so this is good”. Kai said as he carefully inspected the scroll manual.
It was made out of high-quality materials and bound by a green ribbon. Kai unfurled the ribbon and opened the manual, but as usual, he had no idea what was written on it.
Kai willed the information into his head and looked through the information.
=[New Entry]=
>[Unnamed Internal Martial Arts Manual] [D-Rank] based on [Grade-3] Wind Elemental Heart-Crystal]
[The first breath of the world brought about the first wind, simply known as the deity of the eternal breeze is gentle and kind, however, her power is unmatched when she is angered for she will summon endless storms to ravage and destroying all in her path]
Limit: Peak of Foundation Establishment
[Qi Gather Rate]: 1/ hour
[Active]: Gain the Wind Deity’s ability to convert normal Qi into the Wind-Qi
[Passive 1]: Absorb latent Qi within the air passively. Qi gather rate is also increased based on the wind elements within your vicinity. the base is (+5 Qi per hour)
[Passive 2]: Damage received from All Qi-based attacks is reduced by 15%. Damage received from Wind-Qi based attacks is reduced by 50%
[System Warning, Host’s cultivation slot is full. Would you like to forget [Dragon Subduing Law]?
“Aww Yeah! An internal manual!”. Kai wanted to shout at the top of his lungs. He felt his hands shaking but tried to calm himself down by analyzing the manual in detail.
“First of all, he would gain the ability to change his Qi from the normal Qi to Wind-Qi. Kai didn’t know what the significance of this would be, but he just assumed Wind-Qi would probably be better. However, he would have to try it out and see for himself.
What interested Kai the most was the passive Qi gain which was worlds apart from what he was currently getting from [Dragon Subduing Law]. “With this, I’ll get 1 Qi every hour instead of every day.”
Kai knew that this wasn’t all. The first passive would also let him absorb an additional [5 Qi] per hour. Also if the description was correct, then he could increase his gather rate by surrounding himself with wind elemental objects.
“I can now gather over [100 Qi] a day without doing anything, and if I actively cultivate, I can get double that!”. Kai was extremely happy. He would lose the ability to gain Qi from killing beasts, but this meant he didn’t have to worry about Qi shortages for when there were no beasts to kill.
The last passive was quite self-explanatory. 15% of the damage he received from all Qi attacks would be nullified.. The damage from Wind-Qi attacks would also be reduced by 50% which was amazing.
