Sect Leader’s Rise to the top! - Chapter 69
Kai gave the group some pointers on how to improve their teamwork. He had played countless online games in his old life, so he knew the general composition that a team needed. Mina would be the main tank while old Lao and Ryu acted as damage dealers.
After a short break, the team continued towards the next cluster of [Slime-Vine] and repeated the process. As time went by, Ryu became better and better at tracking their movements and could now find their general location without Kai’s help.
Another pleasant surprise was that Ryu and Old Lao had achieved [Mortal Grade-2] bodies. They each only needed 50 [Grade-1] beast essences to reach that level, so it wouldn’t be too difficult. Mina was on her way to achieving a [Mortal Grade-4] body, seeing as she only needed 150 more [Grade-1] beast essences.
When Kai felt that they were good enough to hunt by themselves, he instructed Qiulong to follow and protect them against any [Grade-2] beasts or hostile hunters. Qiulong was now a lot stronger, and Kai was confident that she could hold her own against multiple [Fungus-Apes] if she just defended.
Kai left the group in search of his prey. He needed 200 [Grade-2] beast essences which would be difficult to gather, so he had no time to waste. When Kai left, the Ryu felt a little nervous but was comforted when he saw Qiulong diligently following a few meters behind them.
Mina looked back to the two and spoke in a serious tone. “Master is pretty amazing. I wonder how he was able to create these strange and wonderful cultivation manuals.”
Old Lao nodded his head. He knew better than the two young siblings just how amazing Kai’s manuals were. Kai had taught them cultivation using a strange mind transfer technique that allowed mortals to practice Qi-Cultivation. This was supposed to be an impossible feat even for the most powerful cultivators, yet here he was, living proof that it was indeed possible.
Old Lao closed his eyes as they walked. He could now sense the Qi in the air. “My lord had given me a gift that I could have never dreamt of. All I can do to repay his kindness is to dedicate the rest of my life to him…”, Old Lao said solemnly.
Mina and Ryu nodded their heads in agreement when they heard his words. They also knew the harsh realities of being mortals in this world, so to be given a chance to go beyond mortality was a huge gift. They would do anything and everything in their power to repay Kai’s kindness.
“Let’s move to the next cluster. The sooner we can get stronger, the sooner we can start being useful to Master!”, Ryu said with excitement in his voice.
The group collected the beast’s remains and headed toward their next target.
Kai was sprinting through the terrain, looking for [Fungus-Ape]. They were the only [Grade 2] beasts in the Eastern swamp so he wasn’t too worried about running into anything else. Their hides did not sell for much and the effort required to defeat one did not match their value, so most Hunter’s simply did not bother coming to the Eastern Swamps.
However, this fact worked in Kai’s favor. All he was interested in was their hearts and not their hides. Kai actively ran headfirst into any [Fungus-Ape] that he came across and used Wind-Qi enhanced attacks to quickly defeat them. The power that he could now muster was at a level where it would rip through the beast’s hide effortlessly with a single Wind-Qi enhanced punch. Because of this, Kai determined that beasts at [Grade-2] could no longer pose a threat to him.
With this realization, Kai hunted quickly and without worry until the sun began to set. He landed on a nearby root and checked his status while eating the heart from his latest [Fungus-Ape] victim.
[Life Essences required for next promotion]: 123 /200 [Grade-2 Essences].
“My speed isn’t bad. One more day of hard grinding and I’ll be able to get [Mortal Grade-5]”. Kai was deep in thought as he walked back to his companions. He was able to sense the general location of their [Sub-Core]. All Kai had to do was to stay within a 1Km radius of them so that he could keep contact with them using [Dragon’s Whispers].
When Kai arrived, they all seemed exhausted but oddly satisfied. The group had been attacked by a few [Fungus-Ape], but Qiulong was able to scare them off so they were never in any real trouble, at least from his perspective.
Kai inspected them and saw that they were all making good progress with their body cultivation. They would soon reach [Mortal Grade-4] within a few weeks if they continued at this rate.
“From now on, you three will be hunting like this every day and then cultivating in the evenings. These battles are also a part of your cultivation so you must be diligent. Lastly, you are forbidden from going into the heart of the swamp. Is this understood?”.
“Yes, Master!”, the three answered in unison.
Kai smiled and lead them all back to the wagon where the group set off, back to Huang City. The next day, the trio again set off for the Eastern-Swamp on Qiulong.
Kai watched as they left the city gates, then quickly turned around and headed towards the Hunter’s Lodge. Between the kills he had and his team had gotten, as well as the sale of the hides, Kai’s [Sleeping Serpent] group now had over 10,000 contribution points, with the majority coming from the [Fungus-Ape] that Kai had defeated.
“Good Morning Lei Hai”, Kai said as he strolled happily into the Hunter’s Lodge building.
“Mr, Kai. Good morning to you. How may I help?”
“I’m here to spend my contribution points, I would like the beginner alchemy information please”, Kai said as he handed over his map. Everyone’s contributions would all be accessible through his map since he was the team’s leader.
Lei Hai was completely shocked. The team was only recently created so how did they manage to get so many contribution points in such a short period?…
Lei Hai didn’t voice this and kept it to herself. There was no way the information could have been faked, so she had to accept that the team was just that exceptional.
Lei Hai pulled the information on the Beginner Alchemy and handed a scroll over to Kai. Kai took a look at it in excitement but couldn’t help but frown slightly…
“Is this it?….”
