Sect Leader’s Rise to the top! - Chapter 89
Kai placed his foot back on the ground and turned to look at the Twin Lions Sect’s liaison. The man had obviously stopped him on purpose, but Kai didn’t care. He had no real grudge against Hou Zhou and the old man so he decided to just let it go.
As Kai turn r around to walk back to his disciples, a loud screen was heard, prompting everyone to turn in a certain direction.
“Hou Zhou!!!”, Chen Dou yelled at the top of his lungs. His face was clearly fuming with anger as he stared at Hou Zhou.
“You dog!, how dare you surrender?!, I refuse to accept this outcome!”, he continued while stomping hard on the ground. Hou Zhou simply ignored Chen Dou and did not take his eyes off Kai.
“young Chen lord, are you going against a ruling set by the Twin Lions sect?”, asked the liaison in an amused voice. He was clearly having the time of his life.
“I….no, I wouldn’t dare…”, Chen Dou quickly responded while dropping his head slightly. He still seemed furious, but now seemed to have a small sense of rationality.
“Good, then as I said before. The Lee family has won…do you agree with this outcome?”, said the liaison tauntingly.
“I agree…”, said Chen Dou through gritted teeth.
The liaison seemed amused by the response then turned towards Kai. “Lee family’s champion, to the victor, go the spoils”, he said as he handed Kai three pieces of paper.
The first two were deeds for the nearby Lee family building as well as their clothing store. Kai would return these to the Lee family Patriarch.
When Kai read the third piece of paper, he found that it was an entry token of some sort. Kai looked at it curiously then looked back to the liaison. Was a random token really worth as much as a whole business and an entire building?.
The liaison seemed to have understood the look and explained. “This is a token that allows entry into the Twin Lions Sect’s pocket dimension for no more than 3 days. Any treasures or materials found during this time will be yours to keep. This of course is assuming that you can survive there long enough to bring anything back…”
Kai was shocked. It seemed dangerous, but could also be a chance for him to get a lot of high-grade manual materials.
Kai turned to Chen Dou who was now staring at him with hate-filled eyes. Chen Dou had gone through a lot of trouble to get that token from his father, yet it was now in Kai’s hands.
“The entrance will open to all token holders a month from now. You would do well to prepare, not many make it back alive, but those that do have a chance to get special admission into the Twin Lions sect”.
Kai was more interested in the possible treasures that could be in such a place. If Kai found even one item with a Qi value of over 1000, then the trip would be completely worth it.
Hou Zhou helped the old man to stand and they both watched Kai silently. Chen Dou was gumming behind them, but he wouldn’t dare to speak more after the liaison had made his judgment. Like this, the three left, followed by the order of the rose warriors. They each had devastated looks on their faces as they left, while the surrounding Lee family members were in a state of celebration.
Their shouts and cheers filled the large street and echoed throughout the quiet city night. Kai’s disciples walked up to him and bowed in unison, to which Kai nodded as he praised each of their earlier performances.
Kai then looked around and noticed Craftsmaster Lee standing in front of the cheering Lee family members quietly. He walked up to the now old man and handed him the Lee family deeds.
Craftsmaster Lee looked at the deeds then back to Kai. “Mr. Kai, I would like to thank you again for saving my family. I had hoped to be useful to the very end, however, it seems I am now no longer needed. The other families no longer see me as an obstacle…”
Before Kai could respond, he noticed Craftsmaster Lee’s skin visibly getting dry and grey. The old man gave a small smile which resulted in small cracks appearing on his cheeks. The cracks quickly spread across his whole face as the moisture within his skin seemed to be getting sucked away at a visible rate.
“Uncle!”, yelled Mei Lee when she noticed this. She ran towards Craftsmaster and tried to hold his hand, but it instead started to crumble into ashes. Mei Lee noticed this and instantly let go as tears started rolling down her face.
“Patriarch!”
“Oh no!!”
The other Lee family members had also noticed this as they rallied around the decaying old man. Craftsmaster Lee turned to Mei Lee and gave her a weak smile.
“My time had come long ago, but I was just stubbornly holding on. I leave the family to you now Mei’Er”.
Mei Lee had a pained look on her face but she still nodded her head solemnly. The Lee family had gone from cheering the victory to mourning the impending death of their family’s last internal cultivator.
Kai looked on in silence. Craftsmaster Lee had only been kind and respectful to Kai since they met, so he was sad to see the man die.
Craftsmaster Lee then turned back to Kai and spoke in a weak voice; “Thank you…”
The old man slowly crumbled to dust, his remaining life force no longer enough to hold his physical body together. Kai was able to feel Craftsmaster Lee’s residual Qi enter the surroundings. The Lee family entered into a state of mourning as they collected the remains of their former Patriarch. Mei Lee walked up to Kai and thanked him again for his help.
“Chen Dou will not be able to challenge for these properties again for another year. It’s also doubtful that any of the other families will bother going after our measly properties, so we should be safe for now. We will hold our end of the bargain and provide you with 20% of our monthly profits as promised.”, Mei Lee said with a serious tone.
Kai nodded his head.. He didn’t want to make it any harder for the Lee family.
