Self Improving - Chapter 2
His own survival took priority over anything else.
Wiping his eyes Aeous woke up before he proceeded to look at the blue screen which was slightly transparent and emitted a slight buzzing noise.
In front of him was the word ‘Tutorial’ he pressed it and nothing happened at first, then when he visualized in his mind that he pressed the button it popped a new screen right open and he was surprised, to say the least at the contents.
[Welcome User to the Candidate System, or as most call it the base status. It is time for the first lesson, stats. ]
Aeous stared, surprise easily visible on his face. This was just like a game, Aeous had played games before so when this screen popped up and the text overlayed itself upon it in his vision he knew he was in for something worth investing his own sweat into, perhaps even his own blood if that was what it took.
The outside world was scary, and it would be extremely safe to assume that other people would have access to this status thing that he had just unlocked? Or received? However, he obtained this he might as well use it, it was better than nothing and also better than most alternatives that he could think of.
[Before that User, please remember that you may open your status at any time by simply thinking the word status in your head. ]
That was understandable and easy to digest, thinking the word status his status overlapped the tutorial screen where he was able to see the stats that he possessed.
Status
Name – Aeous
Age – 17
Level – 0 (0/25 EXP)
Stat Points – 0 (3 SP/LvL)
Class – Classless
User Stat Sheet
Earth’s Stat Average = 5
Strength – (4)
Intellect – (7)
Defense – (2)
Constitution – (5)
Dexterity – (2)
Agility – (2)
Luck – (2)
Will – (4)
Charisma – (3)
The moment that Aeous spotted his stats he felt a pain in his heart, they sucked. If anyone else saw this they might cry, but when most of the world was either dead or captured crying had no place.
His eyes soft from almost crying he clenched his fists. ‘ Fuck!’ He mouthed.
If anyone was near, they might have heard a harsh slapping noise that rang through the walls of the dilapidated building – he slapped his cheeks, it was not time to moan and groan this was his only avenue of survival he refocused his attention back on his status that’s when the tutorial screen overlapped his status.
[Your stats are not permanent, meaning that you can always improve them and in rare instances, you can lose them.]
This made him happy, and it also made him wonder if these were based on himself or they were randomly generated – they could be based on him and that line of thought caused Aeous to shudder. He should have lived a better life, it was too late to regret such things it would only waste the time that he could spend improving himself.
The words of the status continued to flash before his eyes.
[Strength is how much force you can apply either by lifting or pulling anything that requires brute force this will make things the tasks that require those things easier.]
[The more points that you spend on the stat the better you will perform- extra stat points may also be rewarded when you gain a class you will learn more about the matter later, that is not to say what you spend your stat points on now will not change your future prospects or fate.]
[They will so decide carefully. Back to the topic at hand…]
Like that he was explained the rest of the stats by the status which included intellect, defense, constitution, dexterity, agility, luck, will, and charisma and that he could level up if you meet the required experience, and that the amount of experience required to level will rise alongside a higher level.
After their effect was listed another screen popped up.
[Good luck with your future endeavors, the system will judge your exploits and reward you based off of them. Killing, Diplomacy, Intrigue there are many ways to gain experience and to improve yourself do not think inside the box, think outside of it.]
[As a reward for finishing the tutorial you have received 25 experience!]
[You have met the required experience requirements to level up, you have gained 3 Stat points!]
Outside the box, then… he will hold on to his stat points for now and go get some fresh air.
He was dying to eat.
Nearly midnight Yesterday…
Thirty minutes away from Aeous’s current location, the gold armored angel was in front of a group of people, they were on their knees, and their heads were pressed against the concrete street. Their hands remained bound in intricate looking shackles. The golden armored angel was looking down at them with a look of disdain. With that being said they looked docile for they had seen the might of the bronze, and even silver armored angels. Plus who knew what kind of destruction this tough looking angel could do to them, or… their families.
They were also exhausted from running, they would gain nothing by running away. If they did that the golden armored angel would take their heads and only they would be at blame.
The people pressed against the ground looked up as they heard him start to speak.
They had many, many questions but none of the backbone needed to ask.
“I am the 87th Platoon Commander of the Kingdom of Heaven, Weviel.”
“Humans, as you know we are here for a special reason and that reason pertains to a matter most important to our eternal father in our hearts and soul, our creator, Yweh.”
“We are here to see who deserves to be champions of our great and merciful God, Yweh. The title of Exemplar is honorary and is a great deal to be bestowed it. Especially for a race of mongrels like yourself.”
“As you have seen from our minor show of force you are all pathetically weak with your guns and your riot shields and all your weak human weapons you will have a chance to be stronger than you are. Much stronger, without them. Soon demons will be upon us and those who survive will be hailed as legends amongst humans-”
“And those who do die will be cast into Hell like the wretched beings you are.”
