Serendipity – A Chance Encounter - Chapter 384
At 6 in the evening that night, Mr. & Mrs. Kim went to Samantha’s room to have a short talk with her while Ashton was with Daniel and his parents.
“How are you, sweetheart? Are you ready for tomorrow?” Mother Kim asked as she brushed Samantha’s hair.
“I guess so… I don’t know… I still feel a little weird about all of this. Is that normal?”
Father Kim sat next in an armchair nearby and said, “It’s normal. You’re getting married after all…”
“Dad… Thanks for everything.” Samantha turned to the side and held her father’s hand. She didn’t have to say anything else and her father could already understand what she meant.
Mother Kim got teary eyed and sniffed, making Samantha look up to her. “Oh, mom… Stop.” Samantha got up from her seat and hugged her mother.
Seo Joon came to her room too and the four of them spent an hour before they decided to head back to their rooms to let Samantha rest for the big day tomorrow.
When the clock struck at eight in the evening, Samantha’s phone beeped.
She was in the bathroom washing her face when she heard the notification. After quickly patting her skin dry, she picked up her phone and read the text from Daniel.
[Daniel: Honey, you’re not yet sleeping, are you?]
Samantha tapped in her reply.
[Samantha: I’ve just finished washing up. Why?]
[Daniel: Good. Are you alone?]
[Samantha: Yes]
[Daniel: I’ll swing by in five min.]
Seeing the text message, Samantha hurriedly changed her clothes into a casual one. She even sprayed a body mist on her. She didn’t know why she was feeling excited as if she was a teenager expecting her boyfriend to come over.
Five minutes later, there was a knock on the door. She opened it slowly and saw Daniel who looked like he was also “prepared” to see her that night. The two of them chuckled upon seeing each other.
“You know you’re not supposed to see the bride the night before the wedding, right?” Samantha opened the door for him anyway and Daniel got inside.
“Like that’s going to stop me.” He remarked and closed the door. “Rain or Shine, the wedding’s going to happen tomorrow.”
Samantha hooked her arms around him and tiptoed to give him a kiss. Daniel held her up, deepened their kiss and did not let her go until the two of them were breathless.
“I came by to show you this.” Daniel took out a velvet box and gave it to Samantha.
Receiving the box from him, she opened it and saw their wedding bands. The two of them decided to make a new one. The old rings that they wore before were kept safely in a jewelry box at home.
“Oh my god… honey, they’re so beautiful.” Samantha was teary-eyed when she brushed her fingers over the rings. Hers was a half eternity diamond ring that had a crossover and twist design while Daniel’s had a brushed center with four diamonds planted in the middle forming a square. “I love them.”
Daniel sat on the bed and brought Samantha down to sit on his lap. “We’re getting married tomorrow.” He said in a calm voice as he looked into her eyes.
A smile spread across her face when she replied, “I know… I was invited.”
He pinched her thighs lightly, making them both chuckle and pulled her in for a kiss. When he pulled away, he looked back at her and added, “Seriously, Sam… If you want to back out, you still have time.”
Samantha chuckled at his words. “Stop being silly. Why would I back out?”
Daniel nuzzled on her shoulder, inhaling her sweet scent and tightened his embrace on him before he responded, “You’ve already been hurt before. By me… and by my enemies. When you’ll say yes tomorrow, there’s no going back… Are you really going to allow yourself to be tied up with me despite what may come in the future?”
She placed her hands on either side of his face and stared at him intently. “I don’t care. Whatever will happen will happen. I already got married to you once, got poisoned, got divorced… had Ashton… those things didn’t stop me. I’m still here now, aren’t I? I will get married to you tomorrow, Daniel… I will say yes anytime. I can get married to you anytime, today… right now… right at this moment, I will say yes. It doesn’t matter. Even if I know I will die tomorrow, I will still want to get married to you. Do you understand? Nothing… and I mean nothing is going to change that.”
Hearing her words, Daniel’s heart warmed. Samantha leaned in and gave him a kiss.
“You sure? Not even ice cream?”
“I may have to think about it for a while… it’s a tough decision.” Samantha pretended to think for a second. Chuckling, she continued, “Not even trucks and trucks of ice cream. I love you, Daniel.”
“Good. Better be.” He got up and walked towards the door. Turning the knob, he pulled the door open before he faced her again and cupped her face. “I love you, Samantha.”
He kissed her forehead and whispered, “I’ll see you at the end of the aisle.”
