Serendipity – A Chance Encounter - Chapter 387
“What’s going? Where’s Samantha?” Daniel began to worry.
“Do you want me to go and check?” Liam offered — even he, was getting anxious with all the waiting. There can’t be any more problems, right?
Daniel wanted to go check for himself but Gael who was sitting nearby, suggested as he stood, “Why don’t I go? You boys can’t leave, you’re already at the front.”
…
Meanwhile, in Samantha’s room:
A woman in a white dress sat on the edge of the bed looking extremely pale.
“Dopey…”
“Sam…”
“S…”
They all tried calling her but it was as if Samantha could not hear a thing. She just sat there breathing in and out deeply, not hearing or understanding what was going on around her.
“I’m getting married. Again.” She mumbled with a shocked expression.
“Yes you are and he is waiting for you. What the hell are you doing? Get your butt up and go there,” Hannah was starting to get fretful.
“Babe, don’t… she’s probably panicking.” Seo Joon squeezed Samantha’s hands and tried to talk to her. “Hey… sis… just tell me if you don’t want to do this. I’ll cancel every– aw!”
Hannah slapped Seo Joon’s upper arm. “You’re not helping!” she scolded.
Becca shook Samantha’s shoulder and said, “Sam, do you need anything? Water? Booze? I could get you a shot if you want…”
“No alcohol!” Seo Joon and Hannah chimed together startling Becca.
“Woah, Jeez! Sorry. I’m just trying to help.” Becca raised her hands up in surrender.
“Heh–” Samantha hyperventilated. She stood up and started to pace from side to side.
“Dopey… What can we do for you?”
“I don’t know!!! I’m freaking out and I don’t know why!” She snapped. “Why am I freaking out?!”
The three of them raised their shoulders, unsure of how to answer the bride who was freaking out.
“I love Daniel…” Samantha muttered. “I love Daniel, right?” She looked at the three who were now sitting on the bed and they all nodded at her, gaping at her weird state.
“Then why am I freaking out?!” She asked again. “Do I not want to get married anymore?”
The three of them couldn’t answer her. They have been trying to calm her down for the last ten minutes but they failed.
“I’ll just call Liam and tell him the wedding’s off?” Becca asked without thinking, earning a glare from Seo Joon and Hannah. “…Or not~”
“The wedding’s off?” Samantha panicked some more. She did not know why she was feeling this way.
She had been very calm and normal days before… last night… and hours ago. But suddenly, just before Seo Joon was going to escort her outside, she froze and got all worked up. Now she was having a hard time calming herself down.
A knock on the door disturbed the baffling atmosphere. Four heads snapped towards the door and saw a little human in a cute cream-colored suit standing by the door.
Mother Kim brought Ashton to Samantha’s room to fetch her.
The little boy looked up and saw his mother in a really pretty dress. He couldn’t recognize her at first but when he stared at her for a few seconds, a sunny smile formed on his face which brightened the room. Without anyone’s help — he walked in a wobbly manner towards his mother, raised his hands up, asking to be picked up.
Samantha’s heartbeat slowed down immediately upon seeing her little potato looking very much like his father… only he was way cuter. She picked him up in her arms and the little boy gazed at her; he was probably wondering why his mommy was extra pretty that day.
Samantha was in a daze when she saw her baby and in an instant, her worries went away.
Ashton’s little finger pointed at her face and touched her nose before raising it high above his name and exclaimed, “Da!”
Her eyes became misty along with everyone else in the room; Ashton was really something.
Nodding her head and chuckling, Samantha said, “Yes… let’s go to Daddy.”
…
Back at the shore.
Just before Gael had taken a step, music played in the air once again. It made everyone’s head turn and saw a group of people from the bride’s side march towards the shore. Hannah walked down the aisle first, followed by Becca.
At the start of the aisle, there was a huge wooden door that covered Samantha, so no one had seen the bride yet.
The melodious music of piano filled the air when the double doors opened, revealing Samantha in her wedding gown with a veil covering her whole body.
And the moment that Daniel laid eyes on the love of his life, his heart beat in a slow and rhythmic pace. His hand brushed on his jaw and mouth as though he was trying to contain his feelings. He didn’t know what made his eyes water but just seeing her walk down the aisle was magical for him.
If someone heard his thoughts right at that moment, they would have already laughed at him and maybe even call him cheesy especially when he felt as if time had slowed down as Samantha walked towards him. But he didn’t care… she was there and she was his; Everyone and everything else did not matter.
Arriving at the end of the aisle and standing before her groom, Samantha’s smile was evident under the soft veil. “I’m sorry I’m late,” she whispered.
Daniel gazed into her bright and merry eyes. He couldn’t believe how possible it was that she had gotten even more beautiful. “It’s okay… you’re worth it.”
He took her hand and hooked it around his arm and with a gentle smile, he asked, “Shall we?”
…
The whole ceremony was a breeze. Samantha and Daniel were lost in their own little worlds as they gazed at each other the entire time and before they knew it, it was time to exchange their vows.
The officiator signaled for Daniel to go first and soon, he started his speech. “Wow…” He smiled and the guests chuckled at his reaction.
The two of them held hands and Daniel took a deep breath before he began. “You know that I’m not really big on words. And honestly, I still don’t know what to tell you right now… Samantha, Meeting you was… Serendipity.
“All the while I thought that love was only for fools and that I could live without it. I even thought that I didn’t deserve it. But, Samantha… you came and proved me wrong. And for that, I will always and forever be grateful. You gave me Ashton and you gave me ‘You’. I just want you to know that you’re everything that I need in my life.
“I can’t promise the whole world to you. But I can promise my life to you. And as long as I live, I’ll be yours and yours alone, my heart…”
“my body…”
Lucas and Sean chuckled loudly making everyone else laugh with them.
With a smile, Daniel continued, “And my soul… You’re my soulmate, Samantha… and spending the rest of my life with you will be an honor and a promise. I love you, mon amour.”
Holding back her tears, Samantha swallowed and revealed a trembling yet happy smile at him. “I should have gone first… how the hell am I supposed to beat that?”
The seated guests laughed at her words, making the atmosphere of their ceremony very joyous.
“Daniel… No matter what struggles we face, I will stand by you. No matter how huge the storm is, I will hold your hand just like this… and tread through it with you. Nothing is going to make me back down. I promise you that I will cherish you and be a good wife for as long as I live.
“I have loved you since…
“And I love you now…
“I promise that I will love you tomorrow. And I promise that I will stay with you… for all eternity.”
“You’re the love of my life, Daniel Cho.”
Everyone was so engrossed in their vows; sniffs and sobs were heard. But the two of them remained their gazes into each other’s eyes.
“…You may now kiss the bride.”
Daniel lifted her veil over her head and exhaled a sigh of relief when he finally saw her face, “You’re breathtaking.”
“So are you,” she whispered.
Placing a hand on the side of her neck, Daniel pulled her close and leaned in for a kiss while Samantha placed her hands on his chest and met him halfway until their lips touched ever so lovingly.
