Serendipity – A Chance Encounter - Chapter 388
The reception after the wedding had a lively atmosphere. There were less than fifty people yet they were all people whom Samantha and Daniel wanted to see and celebrate their special day with.
They were in the garden of the resort. The place was decorated with lots of flowers, leaves, candles, and lights. The colors white, green, cream, and blush pink blended perfectly together. This was how Samantha envisioned her wedding and with the help of her friends Hannah and Becca, everything was made possible.
A live band entertained their night and with the calm weather, everything was romantic and magical.
Daniel took Samantha’s hand and brought her to the platform in the middle. Their guests had just finished eating when they saw the newly married couple on their first dance.
The band started playing a song by Ryann Darling entitled “I Choose You” to serenade the loving couple.
With Daniel’s right hand and Samantha’s left holding together, he placed her right hand on his shoulder while he put his other hand on the small of her back. Bringing their bodies close together, she looked up at him and they gazed into each other’s eyes as they began to sway slowly from side to side.
“Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?” Daniel muttered.
“Just tonight?”
“Especially tonight…”
“Hmmm… you too, love. You’re beautiful.” A small, sweet smile appeared on her face. “I could dance with you like this forever .”
“We should… we should do this all the time,” he responded. And that was the beginning of their promise, they would commemorate their wedding night every year dancing to this song — or even on ordinary nights or days when they feel like it.
The two of them leaned on each other’s side of the heads while they remained quiet as they enjoyed the soft and romantic music.
A little later, the newly wedded couple was joined on the dancefloor by their parents followed by Hannah and Seo Joon, and Becca and Liam.
The love songs came to an end and replaced by upbeat music where the rest of the guests enjoyed.
Samantha sat on a chair to rest her feet while Daniel was with his friends. She was happily observing her friends and family on the dancefloor when Nathan and Alexander walked up to her.
“Congratulations, Mrs. Cho,” they greeted.
“Hey… thank you so much for coming.” Samantha got up and gave them both a hug. She’s been very thankful to these two men who had always been really nice to her.
Despite the fact that Nathan was still in love with Samantha, he knew that he could never have her again so he was now back in the market, ready to date again. But he’ll always think of her as the one that got away.
Alexander, on the other hand, was becoming pretty serious with his girlfriend as he even brought her to the wedding.
The three of them talked for a while before Gael came to her side and the two other gentlemen walked away.
“Congratulations, may I have this dance?” Gael offered a hand in which Samantha did not see the reason why she should refuse.
“It would be an honor,” Samantha responded.
Placing her hand on his, the two of them danced and talked about random things. She believed that it was not impossible to be friends with this man.
“Sam, I know that you may probably never need it knowing that your husband is a very capable man but… if ever you do, if ever you need anything at all… Don’t hesitate to call me.” Gael told her with a serious but gentle expression.
“Really? Even when you’re already married and your skin becomes all wrinkly?” she teased.
“Even then,” he chuckled.
Daniel saw them together on the dance floor but as much as he wanted to rip Gael’s hands off of his wife, he just extended his patience and let them be as this was still part of Gael’s ridiculous favor – a conversation and a dance with his wife.
Later that evening, Gael stood by the bar with a drink on his hand when Becca happened to pass by him. They have seen each other since the day Gael arrived on the island but have not really talked to each other.
“Hi,” Gael started.
“Hey,” Becca figured that it must be the only time that they would get the chance to talk to each other so she didn’t run away anymore. “I… received your letter.”
“Ah…” he lowered his gaze and remembered the letter that he sent her last year.
“I didn’t reply because… I didn’t really know what to say.” She clutched her hand and revealed a small smile. “But… Yes, I’ve already forgiven you a long time ago. I hope that you also forgive me.”
The two of them smiled at each other before Becca voiced out her observation, “You love her, don’t you?”
Without even saying a name, Gael knew who she meant and unknowingly, his eyes landed on Samantha who was across the venue talking to Lucas and Sean.
Becca nodded as though her suspicion was confirmed. She had already figured things out when she learned about Gael’s involvement from Liam’s stories. “What do you plan to do now?”
“Travel. Business.” He shrugged. “Take over the world.”
Becca chuckled at his last words, “Well… before you dominate the world, the prince of the underworld must find his princess first.” Becca became a wingwoman the instant she started looking around for potential partners for Gael.
Just as she did, Oliver Su came to the bar with a woman. He looked annoyed, so he tried to compose himself as he scolded the woman with him, “I brought you here so that you can take a break. Don’t make me regret doing that. So you better behave yourself in front of everyone, especially in front of Daniel and Samantha. Do you understand?”
“Yeah yeah… stop nagging. You’re just like dad.” The woman rolled her eyes and waved the bartender to get her drink, “Mudslide.” she ordered.
Oliver Su looked at the bartender and warned him, “Don’t let her get drunk.” He turned to the woman again, pointed a finger at her and said, “Don’t get drunk.”
“Go away and let me enjoy my drink in peace.” She remarked as she turned her back on him.
Oliver took a deep breath and patted her shoulder before he walked away.
Becca smiled the entire time she heard their conversation. She thought that the woman looked familiar but she just couldn’t put her finger on it. The woman had an ash balayage hair with soft and wavy curls. She was wearing a black dress and had a couple of fashion rings on her fingers.
Feeling a good vibe on her, Becca exchanged glances with Gael.
He could somehow read what was on Becca’s mind so he shook his head. “Don’t… you don’t have to–”
Too late, Becca already moved. She tapped the woman’s shoulder and gestured towards Gael. And the next thing he knew, the woman turned to Gael with a sexy yet charming smile on her face. As if on cue, Gael walked up to her.
“Hi, my name’s Angela.” She extended her hand out and said.
Receiving her hand, he shook it and formed a devilish smile on his face, “Gael.”
