Serendipity – A Chance Encounter - Chapter 389
It was almost nine in the evening yet the wedding reception was still on-going. Everybody enjoyed the excellent food and great music. They set aside their worries and just celebrated the lovely couple’s union.
Samantha, Becca, and Hannah were having a chit chat until Liam and Seo Joon came to take them away. Scanning the area, Samantha got up from her seat and tried to find her husband.
“That’s strange… where could he be?” she wondered as she continued to look from left to right.
Samantha gasped in surprise when all of a sudden, a pair of warm arms encircled around her waist. “Looking for me?” he said in her ear as he pulled her closer and rested his chin on her shoulder.
Realizing it was Daniel, Samantha giggled and leaned against his chest and placed her own arms on his. “Yes… It feels like I haven’t seen you all night. Did you talk to your friends?”
“Mhmm… we’re planning some business collaboration in the future.”
“Hmmm… so you’ll be even busier later, Mr. Cho?” she asked.
Daniel straightened a little but touched his cheek on her head and tightened his embrace on her. The two of them swayed slowly to the background music as they talked.
“You know I can’t stop working. I’d get sick if I just play all day.”
Samantha chuckled at his words. “True. But you promised me you’re going to take some time off after the wedding.”
“Yes, and I will spend it with you and Ashton while we travel to wherever you want to go.”
“I like that,” she answered and felt his lips press against her temple.
They looked around and observed their guests and seeing them all enjoy the night made them feel really happy. They knew that everyone was busy yet they took some time off and celebrated this special day with them.
On one corner of the venue, Daniel nodded towards the two old men on the table. “Honey, look.”
Samantha followed his gaze and it landed on Grandfather Cho who had just sat down next to Grandfather Kim. He had two glasses of alcohol in his hand and passed one glass to his old rival.
Grandfather Kim only looked at him briefly before he received the glass and said, “You didn’t put poison in this, did you?”
Grandfather Cho scoffed at his remark and exchanged his glass with Grandfather Kim and took a sip on it first to show that he didn’t put anything harmful in it. “We’d probably die faster drinking liquor than taking poison.”
Grandfather Kim grunted before drinking from his own glass.
Samantha and Daniel chuckled as they watched the two old men’s exchange of words.
On the other side of the room were Lucas and Sean, talking endlessly until Vivian came to drag Sean away for a dance, leaving Lucas alone with his drink.
“We need to find a partner for Lucas,” Samantha muttered when she saw the scene.
“He’s a grown man, he can take care of himself.”
“But you said he had been single for a long time… what if he grows old alone?”
Daniel clicked his tongue and nibbled on her ear as he tightened his embrace even more. “You’re too concerned about other’s love life. Why don’t you devote all your concern to me instead?”
Samantha chuckled “I already gave all of me to you.”
“Mhmm… you better.”
“Check out the bar. Looks like Gael has found someone,” Samantha whispered.
Daniel darted his gaze and saw Gael and a woman sitting closely as they whispered to each other’s ears. The bar was near the speakers so Gael and the woman leaned closer to talk to each other, ignoring the fact that they can actually move somewhere else to be able to speak easily without being too close – or maybe they just really wanted to be too close.
“Do you know who that woman is? I think I’ve seen her somewhere…” Samantha said just like Becca’s suspicion.
“Mhmm… she’s Oliver’s sister. She arrived with him that day. He said he was hiding her on this island for a few days or something.”
“Oliver’s sister?” Samantha was slightly shocked. She and Oliver went to high school together and she knew his sister although they didn’t really talk that much – they were acquainted. However, Oliver’s sister looked so different compared to how she looked when they were teens. “I think her name is Angela…” she muttered.
“Mhmm… they look good together.” Daniel commented. “They should date so he can stop bugging you.”
Samantha just couldn’t stop laughing at Daniel’s remarks that night. “You’re too possessive of me, aren’t you?”
“Of course. You’re mine and I don’t like sharing.” Daniel kissed her temple, her cheeks, then her neck and was just about to keep kissing her when a pair of small hands clutched onto their clothes.
The two of them looked down and saw Ashton raising his arms up, asking to be picked up.
“Except for this little one right here. He doesn’t like to share his mommy with me,” Daniel said as he bent down and picked his son up in his arms.
“Yes, you two are just alike. Both of you are so selfish of me.” Samatha leaned on her side against Daniel while he had his left arm carrying Ashton and his right arm around her waist. He was pretty occupied but he loved it anyway.
“Mhmm… I’m happy with just the two of you here with me.” Daniel kissed Ashton’s temple and then the top of Samantha’s head.
The little potato suddenly raised his arm up and waved it in the air while his body swayed a little from side to side.
“Does my baby want to dance?” Samantha tickled Ash’s belly with her finger and the little boy giggled and danced some more — Daniel found him so adorable.
“Come on, let’s dance.” Daniel brought the two of them to the dance floor. Samantha held Ashton’s small hand with her right and Daniel’s with her left. The three of them grooved to the music while they exchanged smiles and giggles.
It was such a lovely sight to see the family of three just being happy.
