Serina: The Alpha’s Mate - Chapter 104
Serina went back to the dining room with calm expression. She smiled apologetically to Zalia and Riordan but the current Alpha just waved his hand to dismiss the negative situation.
Not long after, Nicholas came back with a new clothes which made her raise her eyebrow in question. She didn’t even need to say the words because Nicholas understood the way she looked at him.
“I spilled some sauce on my shirt.” Nicholas stated with a huge grin on his face. “I can be clumsy at times.”
“I know that.” Serina mumbled which earned another chuckle from him.
Their lunch resumed and they no longer talked about the things that could cause some pressure on Serina or make Yiran feel bad. They talked about the wolves around the area as well as the other protected wildlife.
At first, Serina was really shock when she found out they have wolves in the forest. As far as she knew from all the documentaries and books she has read in the past, wolves don’t interact with humans that much. In fact, they lived miles and miles away from human settlement. However, when she learned about werewolves and people who have affinities for wolves, she was able to understand why there were wolves in the forest of Vallardi estate.
The wolves trusted the humans there who protected them from the poachers and hunters.
Listening to the story of how the wolves started to gather there, Serina was even more excited to see the cubs. She was giddy and her heart was beating really fast. With their great hearint skills, her heartbeat was like a drumroll to them.
After lunch, Serina and Zalia talked for few more minutes despite the constant nagging of her son and daughter that she needed to rest. She wanted to spend a little more time with her future daughter-in-law because she wasn’t sure if she’d live long enough to witness their union.
The longer she stayed closer to Serina, the weaker she got. In the end, she was brought to her room before she could faint in front of the young lady.
Nicholas took Serina to the forest, to help her relax and see the wolves as well. This time, they were walking leisurely since it was day time. She can clearly see how beautiful the forest was. It was enchanting like the first time she arrived there.
She didn’t really know how huge the estate was because she never searched for it but she can tell it was really a big property.
“The lake in the center of the forest…uhm…I have gone there before. Was it man-made or natural?”
“At first, it was man-made. I mean, our great grandpa made a small pond where animals could drink water from and he did it by making a small canal from the small waterfall on the mountain over there.” Nicholas pointed his hand to the west side of the forest but Serina didn’t really see anything. She didn’t hear the sound of the water as well. It’s because Brittislava refused to leaned her power at this moment. “The small pond grew little by little because of the water current and from the heavy rain. And that’s how it is today.”
“It was a beautiful lake.”
“Do you want to see the waterfall?”
“I’d love to but maybe next time? I want to see the wolves for now and spend my time with them.”
The two of them continued to walk and not long after, they arrived at the place that Serina loved so much.
“Kylo! Hunter! Sierra!” She called the names of the first pups she ever named. Few seconds later, she saw them running towards her. Sierra jumped towards Serina and the weight of the wolf made her lost her balance. Both of them fell on the ground but all they could hear was Serina’s hearty laughter. Sierra was licking her face, nuzzling her neck and rubbed its face on hers.
Nicholas watched her the whole time and smiled. ‘She’d be a great mother. Don’t you think so?’ Nicholas told Kiro who was residing in him. ‘I can’t wait to hear what she wanted to say.’
‘She’ll probably inform you about it on the way home.’ Kiro replied weakly. He wanted to sleep for a little while. Truthfully, he was jealous of Nicholas because she can spend time with their mate in human form but Kiro couldn’t spend time with his mate in her wolf form. Serina refused to acknowledge that she’s a she-wolf.
Nicholas already made a conclusion that Serina was born from a dragon and a werewolf. However, he got the order wrong. He thought that Irene was the dragon and that Michael was the werewolf. It should be the other way around.
Back in the mansion, Riordan was sitting on a chair beside the King size bed where his wife laid. She looked so weak and thin. “Zalia, have you ever wonder why Serina doesn’t look afraid or feel pressure in front of us. You must have felt it, right? Everytime we met her, I let out some of my energy to pressure her. Most people would bow their head before me or even avoid to look at me. But she’s different. She remained calm and she didn’t look away either. Have you ever wondered why is that?”
“My love,” Zalia placed her weak hands on Riordan “she’s the future Luna. She should have little resistance from you. Stop thinking about those nonsense and just stay with me. If this is our fate, we should accept it. Please don’t impose something on her when she didn’t do anything wrong.”
“So, am I gonna lose you for her? Nicholas can find someone else better than her if what I’m thinking is right.”
“No you can’t. You will not just lose me but Nicholas as well. Do you really want him to hate us for the rest of our lives?”
“So, we are all going to pretend that we don’t know anything and let her come in and out of our domain?”
“I believe in her.” Zalia firmly replied. “I have always trusted my instincts and they never failed me. I trust her. So, trust her by trusting me.”
Riordan closed his eyes and nodded his head. He couldn’t do anything for now. He needed to wait for the right time.
He was just about to go out of the room when he noticed some red liquid coming out of his wife’s ear.
“Zalia? Zalia can you still hear me?” He was starting to panic when he saw the blood trickle down from her nose. “Oh god! Call the village doctor!” Riordan roared and this was heard by everyone inside and outside the mansion.
Serina heard the loud roar as well but she didn’t know what it was about. Unlike her, Nicholas looked stunned and pale.
“What was that?” She asked but even before she could think properly, she was already walking back to the mansion, where the source of the howl came from.
“No, you can’t. You must not go there.” Nicholas held her hand, stopping her from leaving. He even looked as if he was begging her.
“What’s going on Nicholas?”
Few seconds right after she asked this question, a huge white wolf with the same deep blue eyes as him came out of the bushes. It looked angrily towards Nicholas and Serina was fearful of the wolf for the very first time. The last time she saw this wolf was when she had a camping, that time, Kiro was with her. Although she looked angry, she looked as if she was about to cry as well.
Nicholas looked at her then to the wolf. He looked so torn between the two of them.
“I’m leaving. Do not go anywhere. Stay right here.” Nicholas told her. He didn’t waste any more time and mounted the white wolf.
Yiran’s wolf ran away from Serina and when she couldn’t see them anymore, Nicholas jumped and changed to his wolf form. They ran back to the house.
Serina felt something was wrong. That loud howl seemed like someone was in great pain. The wolves around her restless. The cubs stopped playing. She felt suffocated with the unknown danger. Dark clouds started gathering in the sky and it was like a boiling cauldron. The wind picked up and she felt there’s a strong storm brewing.
“Rina. Run. Go somewhere. Don’t stay here.” It was Elder Alina who came out of a portal that she used as a means to travel in different places.
“Why must I run away? Something’s wrong. Nicholas was acting strange.”
“I don’t care how she was acting. It’s not the time yet. You have to go back with me.”
“No! I have to help. There should be something that I can do.” Serina turned around and ran back to the direction of the mansion. She could hear the wolves howling from a far. The sound came to her like they were grieving for something or someone. It was like they’re mourning.
“Where are you going?” Gabriel came out of the bushes and held her elbow to stop her. “Nicholas told me to stop you from going to the house.”
“Why?”
“That’s what I wanted to know as well. It seems like you are not just an ordinary person.”
“Look. I don’t know what’s going on but I know I can do something.”
“No. I cannot disobey his order.” Gabriel held her tight.
Angered by the sudden hindrance, Serina looked at him coldly and the color of her eyes changed. “You cannot disobey me either. Let go.” She yanked her arm and left.
Gabriel was stunned and it took him a few seconds to recover but when he look around, Serina was no longer there.
