Serina: The Alpha’s Mate - Chapter 108
Serina’s body was free falling from hundreds of meters above the ground. Nicholas ran as fast as he could and jumped off the ground to catch her midair.
She felt so light in his arms and felt really cold as well. Her breathing was so faint that he could barely hear it with his hearing ability.
“Rina.” He called her, gently shaking her shoulder but she didn’t respond, not a frown or a twitch of her eyelids. “Rina, please stay with me. Please don’t leave me.” His tears fell on her face and he didn’t care if he appeared weak in front of them.
“Can I have my daughter back?” Michael commented, opening his arms to take his daughter back. “I can’t allow you to take her when your people tried killing her. I know you have tried your best to protect her but it’s not enough. Our families are meant to be enemies from the start. I don’t want you to have anything to do with my daughter. I hope you can reject the mating ritual with her.”
“No, you can’t!” Riordan interrupted but when Michael looked at him, he shut his mouth immediately. He actually forgot that Michael was also a dragon in human form.
“You don’t have the right to tell me what I should and should not do. You have your wife back. She’s cure. You can do whatever you want but stay away from us.”
“Sir.” Nicholas looked towards Michael, his eyes begging him while hugging Serina tightly. “Can I marry to your family?”
Everyone gasped at his question and couldn’t wrap their heads around the absurdity of this thought. Their future alpha was marrying to the family of a dragon race. It was almost impossible to believe if they weren’t the one who heard him.
“What a disgrace!” an elder yelled and attacked Nicholas with an air slap but Michael waved his hand to disrupt the energy filled magic.
“You are not worthy enough to discipline him.”
Irene also walked towards her husband and blocked the people from seeing Nicholas. “I may not be a strong wolf like you but I swear to god, I won’t hesitate killing you all if you make another move.”
Zalia finally got the gist of the events and her expression turned to one of fear and horror. She looked towards her son, to Serina in his hand before shifting her gaze to her husband and to her daughter. She glanced at everyone and connected the dots.
“You killed her?” She asked in the low voice, disbelieving the fact in front of her. “It’s not right. You couldn’t have done that.”
Everyone looked ashamed and guilty and they looked down to avoid their Luna’s questioning gaze.
“Answer me!” she yelled and her energy shook the whole surroundings. Animals scampered to hide away and birds flew out of their nests. “How could you?! I have said it hundreds of times that we should not hurt the dragon clan! I have repeated these words! I have reminded you again and again! Why didn’t you listen to me?! Do you still respect me as your Luna?!”
“You might be the Luna but we also have our loyalty to our Alpha. Amongst everything, we listen to him first?” another elder answered.
“Why? Is your Alpha suffering from the curse? He’s not! It’s me! It’s my body!”
“Those dead children were mine, too!” Riordan screamed at his wife, unable to contain his anger anymore. “You are my wife. Can’t I not care about you?”
“Rina is a different person. She’s not the same woman who placed the curse on me.”
Nicholas stood up with Serina in his hand, not bothered with the ongoing fight between his parents.
“Bro.” Yiran called out to him and tried holding on to his tattered sleeves but he yanked his arm away.
“Don’t touch me! It’s disgusting to be touched with the hands of a criminal.”
“How dare you speak to your sister like that?!” Riordan scolded Nicholas angrily.
“Sister? I didn’t know I have one. The moment you went against me, I have severed our ties already. I have no sister, parents, or friends. I don’t belong to this family of murderers.”
“Nicholas.” His mother tried to stop him as well but the cold expression on his face froze her from reaching out to him.
Nicholas left his home and joined the Wentworth family. He gave up the pack for her. He didn’t need power. He only needed her. Serina was more than enough to complete him.
Michael drew out an energy barrier around them, making sure that no one can attack them sneakily. There’s no need to hide his ability now that everything has been exposed to everyone.
He looked around the place and looked to the direction of the forest. ‘You don’t need to hide. Just come out. I know that you were not involved.’
Not long after, Damon and Natalya appeared in front of them which surprised Corrine.
“What are you doing here?” she asked Damon without even doubting why Natalya was with him.
“I felt the tremor and the change in Serina’s energy. I thought something has happened to her so I came. I met Natalya along the way but when we arrived, it was already too late.”
“Sis, what about my cat? Did you bring him?” Corrine asked Natalya which stunned the woman for a moment.
“I left it at the pet hotel. I cannot really bring him while traveling in a high speed. Anyway, the cat is fine. Stop worrying about the cat, we should be worried about Rina.”
“Don’t worry.” Michael stated which caught their attention. “Serina is alive. We just have to wait and see how the broken spirit affects her.”
“She should be losing few memories.” Damon commented.
“Do you guys want to come with us?” Irene asked while opening the door of the car for Nicholas. “Be careful not to bump her head.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Nicholas got inside the car, still cradling Serina in his arms, not letting her go, not even for a second.
One after another they got inside the car and transformed to their animal form so that they can make space.
Natalya has changed to her leopard form and sat on the car floor. Damon changed to a raven and perched on Corrine’s shoulder, pecking on her face from time to time. He can’t change to his cat form or she’ll know he’d been lying on the bed next to her.
Yiran watched her brother leave with tears streaming down her face. If she can turn back time, she would not go against him. She would believe his words. She never wanted to lose her brother. She was the only brother she got.
“Stop crying. What’s done is done. We can only hope that Serina will survive this incident and forgive us.”
“She won’t forgive us.” Riordan commented while watching the car disappear to a far distance. “She just won’t after what we did.”
“Serina is not like you who can’t let go of the past.” Zalia retorted and left. She was cured and back to the healthy her, but she felt tired from what happened. Her healthy body was the result of Serina’s sacrifice.
At the dragon village, everyone wept to another loss of their dragon. The fire dragon statue that represents Serina’s dragon collapsed and it only means that the dragon spirit decided to perish from their realm.
She left them a great protection against human and that’s the barrier surrounding them. It has become stronger but no one felt really happy about it. Everyone dressed up in their mourning clothes and prostates outside their homes, offering prayers to the soul that they lost.
Nicholas has stopped crying but his eyes were still focused on Serina. Seeing his devastated look, Irene wanted to comfort him a little but her husband stopped her. Nothing will be able to lessen the pain in his heart unless Serina opens her eyes this instant.
From time to time, he would press his ears on her chest, listening to the flow of her blood and the beat of her heart. He was making sure she was breathing and alive.
“I think Rina’s body is coping with the changes after losing her spirit. I’m sure that she’s going to be fine. It was her dragon who chose to perish and not Serina.”
“Does that make any difference?” Corrine asked while stealing glances at Nicholas. They weren’t sure if he was listening but if he did, it will at least help him a little.
Michael explained the law that applies to the dragon spirits and the dragon bearers. “A dragon spirit can choose to perish while keeping the dragon bearer alive. In this situation, the dragon spirit will never come back. If the dragon bearer wants to perish, she can do that as well and the dragon spirit will look for another human to use as vessel. If both of them wishes to perish, then both of them will also vanish forever.”
“Then, we still have hope for Serina.”
“Unfortunately, if the dragon spirit chose to perish, they will take all memories that the dragon bearers have from the moment that they met.” Michael stated which left them to think the result of this incident.
Serina will lose three to four years worth of memories.. That includes meeting them.
