Serina: The Alpha’s Mate - Chapter 84
Serina and Lambert went out of the school campus to meet with Natalya and Corrine. He was already acquainted with the two of them since he’s been with Serina outside the campus several times. He’s no longer considered an outsider.
“Whoa! This is Lambert?! You look really handsome without those thick glasses of yours.” Natalya commented, circling around Lambert and looking at him from head to toe. “I can’t believe that Rina has connection to that rumored doctor. Well, it’s not important. What matters is that you can see now without glasses.”
“I can never repay Serina for this miracle she brings to me. Thank you is really an understatement for what she did.”
“Just be my true friend.” Serina stated and gently gave his back a gentle push. “Your ‘thank you’ is already enough for payment.”
“Let’s order. Let’s order now. I am so excited to give you a toast of wine for this recovery.” Natalya excitedly said as she went back to her seat.
“We are still minors.” Lambert replied which dampened her mood but nonetheless, she still smiled right after and ordered several dishes. Since they are still not of legal age, Natalya recommended them some fruit shakes and juice.
The four of them sat and since Corrine couldn’t really speak to him, she only smiled and patted his head happily. She’s like an older sister to them.
In the middle of their dinner, Damon connected with Serina in haste. ‘Where are you? I need your help.’
‘Is it about the rogue vampires?’
‘Yes. I just got a report that they’re attacking a village in P country. This place is already out of my jurisdiction and I have heard that no elite vampire settles in this territory. The place is in turmoil and no one sends help to them. I’m afraid that right now, thousands of lives have lost to them.’
‘Can you come and get me? I’m having dinner right now with my friends. It’s evening so they won’t let me go by myself for sure.’
‘Give me a minute.’
Serina put down her spoon and fork, drank her juice and wiped her mouth to show that she’s full. Although, she only ate half of her food. “I’m going somewhere. Can you guys bring Lambert home? Do not let him go back to school alone.”
“Why?” Lambert asked with confused expression. “I’m a man. You don’t expect me to be a coward and hide behind the two of them.”
“I am not saying you are a coward but there are vampires around the city. I don’t want to find out your body in the next morning.”
“You just said it yourself.” Natalya retorted. “There are vampires around the city so where are you going at this time of the night? Not to mention, you are a woman.”
“I’m with someone.”
Before the door of the restaurant could even open, Corrine already turned her head to the entrance, anticipating for someone to come. And there, Damon appeared in his trench coat and pants. He looked really handsome but she only glanced at him before shifting her gaze to Serina.
Damon looked towards Corrine but she no longer looked at him and just focused on her food.
“Let’s go.” Damon said which startled Lambert to find a man standing behind him. He didn’t notice him at all. “We have no time to waste.”
“I’ll leave my bag with you guys. Pay for the food as well. My wallet’s there.” Serina picked up her jacket and put them on, following Damon to get out of the restaurant.
“Who was that?” Lambert questioned, his eyes blinking in shock but moreover, he was worried for Serina. “That guy looked dangerous to me.”
“He’s Damon. He’s a very close friend to Rina. You don’t have to worry about him. He won’t betray her and Serina won’t betray Nicholas because of him.”
“Oh. That’s what I was worried about. Shall I inform Nicholas about this if he calls me?”
“If he asks, you can say it. If he won’t, just don’t.”
“Okay.”
‘How about you?’ Natalya asked Corrine through their mind link. ‘Are you okay?’
‘I’m fine. He’s got nothing to do with me.’ She continued to eat her food but for some reason which she didn’t know of, her heart felt uncomfortable with the thought that he came for another woman. ‘Whatever. I won’t fall for that jerk.’
“So, you asked me to come and get you because Corrine was there?” Damon asked while carrying Serina on his back, teleporting from one place to another. “I can’t believe you’d trick me like that.”
“Hey! I didn’t trick you. I didn’t know you’d be affected seeing her. I thought you don’t care about her and just wanted to end your ties as soon as you get her voice back.”
“Yeah. That’s the plan.”
“Then, stick to your plan. I don’t care if you’d change your mind next time but what I want is for you to get her voice. I’ll just lend you my power.”
Damon didn’t reply to that and just focused on traveling. The speed of their travel was really unbelievable if someone sees this with their naked eyes. From one country to another, Damon didn’t use any vehicle to transport them at all. He used what was available around them and got to where they should be. When they arrived, she checked her watch and found that he only took them to the sight of calamity in ten minutes.
The catastrophe was beyond her imagination. Bodies lay on the ground with their blood flowing like a river. Houses were burning. Alive children were crying. It was chaotic. She could hear screams and gun shots from a distance. Civilians and soldiers fought for their lives and lost it. It was horrible.
Serina retched from the sight and the food she ate were just vomited in no time. “This is sick!” She said while wiping the corner of her mouth. “Let’s get this done and over with.” She placed her hands on the ground, detecting the number of her enemies using magic. “They’re close to a thousand!”
“That’s fine.” Damon picked her up and the next moment, she found that they were standing on a seven-meter high cliff. She could see the fight below as well.
“I’m the dragon of fire, the last of my brethren alive. Spirits of the forest, life of the breathing earth, give me your energy to win the fight against enemies.” Serina raised her hands towards the sky and huge ball of fire that looked like the sun appeared. It wasn’t really hot but it was so bright and when she exploded it, tiny balls of light fell on the sky.
She waited for what would happen. The rogue vampires waited for what would happen. The soldiers stopped firing. They were all intrigued with the tiny sparkles that were falling like snow.
“Ah!” Gurgling scream came from one vampire to the other and they were all rolling on the ground. “Kill her! Kill her!” They shouted and shifted their attention to Serina.
Apparently, she tested her new creation called sun to them. She didn’t know what the effect would be but as she observed, it turned out that those who touches the sparkles which she deemed enemies will get burned by it. The soldiers were fine but she was able to reduce the enemies by a third.
“That was a great attack but it consumes a lot of energy. I can only do it twice or thrice.”
“Use it again later.” Damon commented and started attacking the vampires as well. He disappeared beside her and appeared in the middle of the swarming vampires towards her. He killed as much as he could, thrusting his hand to their chests and ripped their hearts from them.
Serina didn’t stop either. She used her low-level magic but still caused so much damaged because her fire could incinerate them to ashes. She didn’t move from her position at all. She was vulnerable because her back was open to any attack but she didn’t worry because Brittislava was detecting enemies using magic.
The soldiers climbed to the cliff where she stayed and offered helped. “We’ve got you covered.”
“You don’t have to worry about me. Go and rescue your comrades and treat their wounds. I will be fine. Use this opportunity while they are distracted by my presence.”
“But – ”
“No buts. I’m telling you, those things won’t die with your bullets. Just go and help your friends. Me and my companion will deal with them.”
“Thank you.” The soldier gave Serina a salute and left together with his subordinates. They looked for their comrades who were still breathing. Many of them were wounded but lots of them lost their lives as well. He wanted to weep for them but he needed to focus himself to those who are alive around them. They rescued children, old men and women and everyone who were able to survive.
“Zombies are real.” A child commented while hugging his knees close to him. “The zombies killed my father.”
To the children, those who attacked them looked zombies but to the soldiers who can see them with clear vision and with little knowledge, they knew that they were attacked by vampires. However, they didn’t know where they came from.. There was never any sighting of vampires in their country for the last five decades.
