Serina: The Alpha’s Mate - Chapter 89
After dinner, Natalya and Corrine went home together since they’re now staying in the same house. Sometimes, she’d go back to Carcassonne to see her master’s family but knowing that the woman is married and already have children, she didn’t want to become a burden to her.
She has a work online like Corrine since both of them have difficulties finding work near their place. Natalya’s eyes bothered a lot of people and it would be troublesome, too, in case someone accidentally sees her back. As for Corrine, she couldn’t speak and she didn’t want to trouble other people by learning sign languages for her. Therefore, online works suit them better.
As for Lambert and Serina, Nicholas sent them back to school. Serina was very quiet, just walking beside Nicholas while Lambert walked ahead of them. He wanted to walk behind the two but Serina refused for his safety. It will be a big problem if he suddenly disappears behind them.
“You are very quiet.” Nicholas commented, moving closer to her and even bumped her with his shoulder. “Is there anything wrong?”
“I was just thinking about something. It bothers me a little but I am fine.”
“Is that related to me?”
“Uh…kind of…I mean, you have connections with werewolves, right? And you are very fond of them, too. Do you perhaps know anything about the Blue Moon Pack?” Nicholas stiffened and stopped on his track. Kiro didn’t say anything. He just waited in silence, letting Nicholas deal with the mixed emotions deep within him. “I actually wanted to see their Luna but I don’t think it would be easy for a human to meet their pack, correct?”
“I am very familiar with the Blue Moon Pack. And yes, it won’t be easy for you to meet the Luna of the pack. In fact, the last time you meet Gregory, I had to persuade him for over an hour. Why would you want to meet their Luna?”
“Nothing. I just want to see how powerful a Luna of the clan should be. She must be a very amazing person.”
“She is.” Nicholas muttered, remembering his mother who was probably lying on her bed due to her health issue. “However, she’s having trouble now. I heard that it’s because of the curse.”
Serina’s eyes widened and she didn’t dare raise her head to meet his eyes. She was afraid. She was afraid that he’d see the lies she had been hiding from him. “A curse? What kind of curse?”
“It’s placed on her by the dragon princess.” Nicholas answered, observing every acute gesture she had while listening to the erratic beat of her heart. He knew. He just chose to zip his mouth for her safety.
“I hope she’d recover soon.” Serina mumbled and started to pick up her pace and walk. “By the way, since you are meeting with Damon, can you bring me with you? I can take a leave from school tomorrow.”
“Why would you want to go there?”
“I have something to talk with him.”
“I’m afraid I cannot take you there. I have not informed the head of their clan about you. Aside from that, you have a class. I heard from Lambert that you have been sleeping during class discussions. If you keep that up, you will lose your place as the top of the class. Also, just endure a little more. You will graduate in few months.”
“O-okay.”
When they arrived at the gate, Serina suddenly turned around to face him and gave him a hug. It was the first time she did that which brought a shock on Nicholas. He was surprised and at the same time he was happy. He knew she had so many things to tell him and she’d probably looking for the right time. He can wait. He will wait. No matter what happens, he will protect his mate.
“I won’t question you anymore. I won’t be the nagging type of man but Rina, I hope you can be honest with me in the future. I will wait but please don’t make me wait until it’s too late.”
“You missed the things I wanted to say on my 17th birthday. I hope on my 18th birthday, you won’t miss it again. I will tell you everything about me, about my feelings and everything that we could be. I hope, when that time comes, you will not hate me… for I didn’t have the choice to choose my origin.”
“Hn. I will listen to your words.” Nicholas promised, hugging her back to give her the feeling of assurance.
Lambert couldn’t hear what the two of them talk but seeing the melancholic expression on the man’s face, he knew that the two were spouting something dramatic. He can’t really relate to people who are in love because he never felt such thing for someone else. In his life, all he could think of was to study hard and find a high-paying job in the future. He never looked at any woman in a romantic way. Serina even teased him that he was gay but he knows that he didn’t swing that way.
“It’s almost curfew time.” He said and walked inside the gate ahead of her.
“I’ll see you around.” Serina told Nicholas as she let go of him. “I hope your meeting with Damon’s father will go well.”
“I’ll let you know about it as soon as I am done.” He watched her get inside the gate, watched her walk away from him but he knew that this separation isn’t the same as before. Serina has finally chose him. Things aren’t clear between the two of them yet but he knew that things will go well because he could never hate her.
‘That’s mate for you. No matter what she is, you will still love her in the end.’ Kiro stated when they turned back to go home.
‘I know. I’ll go against the world if needed just to keep her from any harm.’
‘What about our mother?’
‘We can always find another way.’
