Serina: The Alpha’s Mate - Chapter 98
Nicholas brought Serina directly to his house without even asking if it was fine with her. Well, even if he didn’t ask, she’s going to go wherever it was he was planning to bring her because she knows that Nicholas will never do anything to harm her, unless he knows that she’s the bearer of the dragon princess.
Serina sat in his living room while he looked for his ointment to soothe the redness of her wrists from the roped tied tightly around them. Like a child waiting to get reprimanded, she was sitting silently while looking at the coffee table in front of her.
“How did you end up with those guys?” Nicholas asked the moment he returned with the first aid kit. Supposedly, this medical kit was just for show in case humans will come to his home. He wasn’t really expecting but he was just prepared. He didn’t know he’d be able to use them now with his mate.
Serina didn’t know that he’s a werewolf so, he needed to be careful around him. On the other hand, Serina didn’t want Nicholas to know that she’s a dragon bearer so, she didn’t heal her own wrists.
“I was going to find Corrine but those men abducted me when I was waiting for the bus.”
“And why were you going to visit Corrine?”
“Because she’s my sister now and I needed to check on her.”
“I know that but, why would you do that in the middle of your class? Weren’t you supposed to study for the exam?”
“I was. I studied so hard that my brain cells got burnt. But I have this feeling that something has happened to her. Also, I haven’t heard anything from Damon. I wanted to make sure that he didn’t involve Corrine to whatever he was trying to do.”
“And why would Damon go for her?”
“Oh. Right. I forgot. You didn’t know anything about them. It’s better if you don’t know. It’s Damon’s matter anyway.”
“It’s his matter but you know about it?”
“He had to tell me or I wouldn’t help him.”
Nicholas kept rubbing the ointment on her wrists, not raising his head to look into her eyes because he knew she’d only be lying to him. “If you find yourself in danger, you can always count on Kiro and he would be reporting to me. I’ll rescue you, whichever part of the world you stay.”
“I’ll count on you to do that.”
“Of course. I will be your fiancé in the future. That’s the least I could do.”
“Where did you get that confidence from. We don’t even know what’s in store for our future. We could end up being enemies or strangers.”
“No way. That’s not going to happen. I’ll make sure that’s not going to ever happen in our life. I’m sure you are the only woman I need in my life. All I’m waiting is for you to choose me, too.”
Serina looked away. She didn’t say a word to respond to his statement and Nicholas didn’t force him either. He has to wait until she’s comfortable enough to tell him everything.
“By the way Rina, you are very fond about werewolves and dragons, right? Have you heard anything related to the dragons recently?” Serina stiffened under his gaze and she started to fidget on her seat. “I was just wondering if I could ask for some help related to them.”
“Why are you asking me?”
“I just thought you’ve been paying attention to any news regarding them. Also, you have strong spirit inside you and I know you’d be looking for them to satisfy your curiosity. Just in case you’d find them, I hope you can relay my message to them.”
“What message?”
“I want them to lift the curse from the Blue Moon Pack’s Luna. I won’t tell anyone about this and I will make sure they’re protected. I just hope they can help us with this favor.”
“Is she so important to you?”
“Hn.”
Serina felt a little pang of guilt in her chest which made her nod at his request. “I know someone who’s very good in the art of healing but she’s not from the dragon tribe. Do you want to try checking with her first? Maybe she can help without us going to look for the dragon.”
“Really? That’s great. I’ll call someone to make an arrangement.”
“Wait!” She held his hand to stop him from making a call that instant. Her eyes were still strained on the floor and her heart was beating loudly that Nicholas thought he was listening to a drum. “Can I talk to the healer first? I’m not sure if she’d be okay with it especially that I didn’t ask for her permission first. If she gives a go signal, you can arrange for them to meet.”
She was uncomfortable telling him this reason but Nicholas kept his calm and relaxing façade in front of her. “Sure. That’s not a problem.” He said while patting her head. “Just looking for ways to help is already a great contribution.”
Serina closed her eyes in relief that he didn’t pursue the matter to involve the dragons.
“just rest there. I’ll make something for you to eat. You haven’t had your lunch, right?”
“Hn. I left right after the last subject of my morning class.”
“As expected. I’ll make something for you and we’ll head out to visit Corrine. I heard that Natalya went back to Carcassonne.”
“Yes. That’s the reason why I’m worried for Corrine. She won’t be able to protect herself on her own.”
While waiting for the food, Serina checked her phone which she had turned into silent mode. She saw a lot of school notifications and when she pressed one of them, it routed her to the school forum page and found her name being mentioned there hundreds of times. Confused with what was happening, she checked the post that made her raised her eyebrow in annoyance.
It was an anonymous post but it gathered a lot of comments and shares from the students.
Serina Wentworth, a top student isn’t actually very smart. Most of her assignments and activities were done by the student name Lambert Suede. She seduced this man to be her boyfriend while he makes all the necessary class activities for her. Both of them were seen outside of the campus – dating. In front of everyone, she appears innocent and smart while she hides her true color. She’s a bitch, a manipulator and a calculative woman. I feel really bad for the innocent Lambert. He comes 3rd in his class while she takes the 1st spot. Anyway, I just want everyone to be wary of her.
As the subject of this criticism, Serina was actually very calm. She didn’t need have to deal with this issue personally. Someone’s willing to help her and she’s going to just pull that string for her benefit. It’s not much compared to herself risking her identity being exposed.
“Nik.” He called for him while walking to the kitchen where he was. “What do you think of me after reading this?” She raised her phone and Nicholas was reading the content of the post while he continued to slice the onions. “You are making me cry.”
“Oh. Sorry. I didn’t know you’d be coming here.” He stopped what he was doing and pulled Serina to the side, away from the table with onions. “Who posted this bunch of nonsense?”
“I don’t know. A jealous person, obviously.” She said, cocking her head to the side with her uncaring attitude. “Most of them believed that I seduced Lambert instead of Lambert falling for me.”
“But they’re both untrue.” Nicholas retorted with an expressionless face. Serina didn’t know what he was thinking because he didn’t show anything on his face. “Don’t worry about that. I’ll have someone handle that matter. I don’t care about their opinion. I knew you better than them.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. There’s no way you could seduce Lambert. You don’t even know how to seduce someone in the first place.”
Serina chuckled at his response while taking her phone away. “You look at me with those rose-colored glasses. Of course, you wouldn’t know what I’m like. Even if this is true, you still won’t believe it.”
“I’m not looking at you with rose-colored glasses. I just trust you that much.”
“Isn’t that the same thing?”
Instead of feeling annoyed or down like how she felt, Nicholas pinched her cheeks and kissed the tip of her nose. “Whatever. I just know that I’m loving the right person. So, stop worrying over that nonsense. I’ll take care of it.”
Serina blushed with the sudden kiss but she didn’t move away. Taking the boost of courage and confidence, she pulled the collar of his shirt and kissed him on the lips. It took Nicholas by surprise but when he got back to his sense, Serina was no longer in front of him.
“That’s no fair..” He yelled loudly from the kitchen but she has gone upstairs and hid inside his room already.
