Server Lost - Chapter 12 there Be Vampires Ii
“Surrender, and I’ll let one of you survive,” Jack’s eyes were on the girl on the right. She had white hair, short in the back and long locks in the front that framed her fragile looking face, and crimson red eyes. She was also shorter than the other two.
The Brother stood there for a few moments, slowly lowering the weapon. “You can’t be serious, you can’t expect us to ch…” He followed Jack’s gaze to what would appear to be the youngest sister. “You won’t be able to complete the dungeon if you keep one of us alive!”
The sister on the left was glaring at Jack, grinding her teeth together. Watching as he was eying her sister to the right.
He had already chosen who would survive!? They should all die together! They were family! Her fingers curled tighter along the cane handle of her parasol.
The sister on the right was staring back at him, her eyes starting to glow as they were making contact. Attempting to take control of his mind, simply with a gaze… But it wasn’t working, no matter how intensely their eye contact had been.
“We’ll kill him first!” The brother denied the counter off as he shed the umbrella end of his parasol to reveal the blade of a rapier. The other two doing the same, “Then we’ll take down the others! Remain in formation.”
The three Vampires lunged towards Jack, their nimble piercing weapons coming towards him at great speeds. Jack however hardly moved.
Using just the spear which was in his hand, he redirected the attack with a swipe on contact to the side. The three Vampires stumbled over one another before turning around to face him again.
“Correction, one of you will live longer than the others. I want to run an experiment which will see if you can still be freed from the Dungeon.” Jack informed them of his plan, wanting to see what these supposedly sentient beings would do.
All three of them paused for a moment, looked at one another, before narrowing their sights on him.
Raising their rapiers and moving in a semi-circle around him to move back to their original position, they didn’t seem to break eye contact with him. “Speak Angel!”
“This is not the same world you know,” Jack uttered as he tilted his head to the side, hearing the tone that the brother was using with him. “You’re capable of thinking for yourself, feeling for yourself. The last time you spawned, what do you remember?”
The Vampires all paused a moment when asked this question. The last thing they remembered? Nothing, they remembered nothing. Spawned? What did he mean by spawned?
The brother flexed a brow, how did he know they had to die in order for this man to complete the dungeon? The Vampires were awkwardly standing there, unlike the monsters, they were being rather puzzled by the words Jack had shared.
Nakajima saw this as his chance to strike and slowly began to approach alongside Jack.
“Take one more step,” Jack uttered as he looked at the swordsman from the corner of his eye.
Nakajima flinched slightly and took a step back the moment he made eye contact with Jack.
“Why just one?” The Brother would narrow his sights on the man in front of them, the man with wings. They pretty much ignored the other three for the time being.
“Have you ever tried to keep three high mid-level vampires from going on a feeding frenzy?” Jack uttered as he knew the power of these beings from the game world.
The brother and two sisters tensed, he saw them as objects, if not pets… but not people. Or at least that is how it felt as he wanted to control them. Though he could with Divine Fealty, which he wanted to use in the first place.
In the game, Vampirism was a mystical disease created through the use of alchemy. They weren’t undead, just members of an afflicted race, which could be cured lore wise.
Though many times people refused to be cured due to the power complex it comes with, the need to feed and become stronger. He was sure they felt it.
“Take all three of us,” the Vampires demanded almost in unison, overriding their sense of self-preservation of only one surviving. It seemed despite just being ‘born’ they were strung together by their family ties.
Jack raised a brow at this, not necessarily expecting it.
” That would mean curing all of you,” The Angel’s eyes flickered from one vampire to another. They didn’t retort, they wanted to leave. He could see it in their eyes, they’d sacrifice the one thing that made them stronger than all the rest of humanity.
“We Don’t want to return to nothing,” These beings which had been spawned by the dungeon, didn’t want to die. They rather service another being, than to return to the darkness in which they had no recollection.
“Now that Is self-preservation.” Jack observed as he lowered his spear slightly, “Youngest first.”
Begrudgingly, the youngest tossed her cane rapier to the side before walking towards him.
The other siblings just watched as she started coming towards him. Her fingers moving about, ready to swat at him. Was she going to sacrifice herself? To distract him? No, that wouldn’t work.
“Are you ready?” Jack’s question was rhetorical, he didn’t care, it didn’t matter.
Standing in front of the tall figure, she stared up at the male. The corner of her lip twitching, one fang poking out of her mouth. Her red hues taking in his holy radiance. “Cur, do as you will.”
Raising his hand in front of her face, he tilted his head to the side.
TheRemove Disease spell was cast by Jack without the use of words, and it immediately showed results. Her skin gained more color, it was no longer super pale and sickly. Her fragile features became more lively and youthful. Those red eyes of hers turned two different colors, one being blue and the other being just silver, both having golden flakes in them.
“Most intriguing…” Jack moved his eyes towards the others as he cast the next spell being Divine Fealty, immediately a golden white glow took on the youngest former vampire.
Blinking up at him, before looking over her hands and her skin, she felt disconnected. Her eyes then drifted towards her siblings, her older sister waddling on over with the clacking of her shoes.
Jack looked over the blonde for a moment before casting the same spells upon her. Not much changed other than her skin tone and eyes, which turned the blue.
The eldest, the brother was watching over his two sisters. Feeling an incredible surge of desire. He wanted to devour them, suck their blood down to the very core of their being. Until there was nothing left.
Jack raised a brow slightly as the brother began to take one step closer, and another, and another. His movements were irregular. With both sisters now having wordlessly sworn to him, Jack gestured for them to join the other four members of his party. They didn’t have names At least none that he knew of.
The brother’s eyes watched as the two girls inched away, watching him as they cautiously moved towards the larger group of people.
That’s when he flickered his attention back to Jack, a sudden loneliness was now flooding into his mind. He no longer had his connection to his sisters, only the dungeon.
for visiting.
“Brother You must let it go!” The youngest spoke aloud, her hands balled at her sides.
The Brother closed his eyes and Jack began to approach midway. Then just as Jack was about to cast the spell, the Vampire lunged forward, but it was too late. With the spear tilted forward, the Vampire impaled himself on the sphere, an error he wouldn’t live long enough to recognize.
“Brother!” both of the former Vampires wailed, almost falling to their knees as they were watching as he suddenly became a dispersing cloud of darkness.
Leaving only a small sack behind and his weapon upon the ground.
The moment this happened, Vivian leveled up once and the other member’s EXP only going up, but they didn’t level.
Another door at the end of the room would open up, revealing a giant statue with several chests around it. Jack walked over to the pouch that the brother had left behind and opened it. Revealing five chest keys and a pair of blue tulip shaped crystals.
Holding the two crystals in his hand as he dropped the empty pouch, the keys in the other hand, he would look to the sisters holding the tulips out for them to take.
The girls, with tears in their eyes as they had watched their own brother impaled on this man’s weapon, leveled their eyes on the two items being held out to them.
Slowly both of them reached out and snatched the items. Their faces filled with sorrow from the loss, an empty feeling could be seen in their eyes. Yet they dare not cry, not in front of them, not in front of him.
“Now, tell me. What’re you skills?” Jack wanted to know what they could do, after having found that he was still capable of taking boss NPCs from dungeons. This would make building an organization of high leveled monsters and the like, much easier.
As he asked this, he held four of the keys out to the other members of the party, who one by one took a key. Each of these keys could open at least one of the chests before disappearing.
Jack stuffed the last key into his sleeve, turning his attention entirely on the former Vampires.
