Shadow Magus - Chapter 9 A Dream?
Elemental particles were of utmost importance to a magician. All spells had one thing in common, they manipulated elemental particles. Without any at their disposal they would be powerless. Luckily elemental particles were always present, even if one tried to remove them new particles would always take their place.
The other important use for elemental particles were improving one’s strength. Be it one’s spiritual force or one’s body they would both passively be improved with the presence of high amounts of elemental particles. Without doing anything one would both become stronger and even age slower.
At this moment Freya could tell that the concentration of elemental particles was about three times the norm and that there were mostly dark and shadow elemental particles. There were about 15% dark elemental particles and 25% shadow elemental particles. Other than those the highest was life elemental particles at 10%, the rest was not as impressive.
By this time their group were quickly approaching the castle. The students were getting more exited but some looked apprehensive as if the castle might be an illusion. After being disappointment twice they have become paranoid.
Freya could only shack her head looking at them, they just had too little life experience. There was no point making such a big illusion as the cost would be no small amount. Besides, with the high concentration of elemental particles and considering how easy it would be to defend, it was the perfect location for the academy.
As they got close to the gate they came to a stop. After everyone had gathered, a blue light came from the gate scanning them and before long the big gates opened. Everyone followed Logan in before the gates once again closed.
At this moment, a normal looking man came to greet them. The man seamed exited as he greeted Logan. “Logan, you are finally back, it seems like there many talents this year!”
“Indeed, there has been an increase in talents these last years.” After they were done with their pleasantry’s the man seamed to become serious.
“Actually, while you were gone some important matters have come up. Why don’t we find a more privet place to talk?” Logan nodded his head and after they instructed a servant to show the new students around, they left shortly after.
They had spent many hours travelling on the bridge. Even though they set of in the morning the sun was just as high as it was now, the only difference was that it was going down not up at this point.
It was no small castle and it took some time for the servant to introduce the important facilities for them. Afterwards they all received a map that covered all that they needed to know, which Freya copied using her A.I chip. Then they were told to gather at the courtyard at 10 tomorrow, where they would get important information regarding classes and such.
Finally, they got some time to rest their tired body as they all went to their new rooms. Freya went straight to bed just like everyone else. As she lay on the luxuries bed she could feel the exhaustion wash over her and she soon fell asleep. Her vision quickly darkened and her eyes soon closed.
After an unknown amount of time she opened her eyes once more. However, what greeted her sight was not her room in the academy. Instead she found herself in a never-ending forest, there were trees all around except for right in front.
Two individuals with swords pointed at one another were standing in the center of a crater facing one another. Around them, all the trees had been destroyed, some had been uprooted from the ground and landed far in the distance while others had been reduced to ashes.
One was an angel while the other was a great demon. One sought destruction while the other to prevent it. The angel had a pair of wings of white feathers and had a noble look. Light that cut straight through the dark clouds above covered him, giving him a holy aura.
The demon also had a pair of wing but hers was pure black. She had a devilish charm that could make any man fall for her. The demon’s clothes were made of flames but it did her no harm.
The angel and demon never took their eyes of one another even for a second. The animals in the forest all ran away in fear, as if feeling the upcoming calamity that was about to befall them.
Eventually both tightened their grip on their swords and time seemed to come to a stop at this moment. The demon smiled and the next moment both swords landed on one another. It was so fast that it was impossible to follow with one’s eyes. All one could see was that both disappeared in one moment and appeared again the next. On one side, all the trees and animals where consumed by flames and turned to ash. On the other side, everything was sent flying and was smashed to bits once it landed.
Both of them were pushed back, they took this chance to spread their wings and fly high in the sky. Their battle continued for days with neither gaining victory over the other. The shock waves from their battle alone destroyed the forest as far as the eyes could see. Everything felt so real that Freya could not tell the difference.
