Shadow Of The World - Chapter 10 Getting Revenge
Souta had been busy for months, he had spent a little over two years in this world and had yet to see a single glimpse of the man with the staff. In this time he had busied himself gaining strength and stocking himself with the tools he would need when the time arrived, he had decided it was time to settle the spirit of this body’s old inhabitant. He was tired of that constant nagging at the back of his mind and wanted to live this new life the way he wanted.
It just so happened on this day that Nagini along with Liam and Ginjuro had come to tell him of a tournament.
“Brother Souta, this is a valuable opportunity to gain entrance to the inner sect” explained Ginjuro excitedly.
“Will their be a man with a staff fighting” asked Souta with little interest.
“Several, you will even have the opportunity to fight against current inner disciples and even core disciples” continued Liam with hope, having the backing of an inner sect disciple would do wonders for them.
“What are the rules” asked Souta seeing a possible opportunity.
“Everything is allowed” responded Nagini happily
“Killing?” asked Souta calmly
“It is frowned upon but it is also allowed” answered Liam with a bit of a grimace.
“When will this tournament be taking place” asked Souta as he went to adorn his new armor, it was solid black and had been lined with his previous armor’s Bottomless bags in more convenient places.
“Well that is to say it will be starting in the afternoon, so we will be needing to head out quickly if we wish to make it in time.” said Ginjuro urgently
Souta smirked, had adorned a new set of rings that had barely noticeable hooks on them and wedged deep between his teeth were a set of flints to he would no longer need to use his spark rings to ignite the alcohol when he wished to breathe fire. His Bottomless Bags that had been sewn under his skin had been stocked heavily with several of his gimmicks and his weapons had seen an upgrade while his former had been melted down into Kunai and Shuriken. Now he donned a superior set of armor and weapons along with a few additions but he still had not used up all the materials he had purchased.
Souta had taken all of his belongings and put them in his Bottomless Pack in case he was forced to make an emergency leave when he started this tournament, he didn’t know who he would end up offending when he began his task of vengeance but he would be sure that he wouldn’t be unprepared.
The three looking at the attire of Souta felt themselves become star struck, the armor wasn’t polished and flashy like most high tiered martial artists but instead was smoothed but non reflective giving a professional appearance.
“Lead the way” said Souta as he followed the duo while Nagini hung on his arm as per usual.
Walking through the streets the disciples who saw Souta and the direction he was heading began to create a stir as they followed, they wanted to see how their Lord Fire Demon stood compared to those inner and core disciples.
Souta and the gang arrived at a pleasant looking area where there was an arena stationed and there were already several disciples who had gathered to compete. Some were from the outer sect like Liam and the rest while others were from the inner sect and core of the sect respectively. It was simple to tell by their appearance as the closer one got to the core the more luxurious their clothing became.
Just as Souta had gone to stand with the rest of the competing disciples a voice suddenly boomed out.
“It pleases me to see so many young martial artists have gathered to participate in this trial, it shows that the spirit of our sect is still as vibrant as ever. Today we will be hosting this as a promotional Trial, the winners depending on the prowess and character they show will be boosted by one level in the sect. That is to say outer to inner, inner to core, and core to elder. This time though we do have special guests, allow me to welcome our honored guests.” called an old man who carried a formidable aura about him.
He then directed the attention towards three men in varying stages of life.
“These are Martial Immortals from an Immortal sect and have graced us with their presence so I expect you all to fight harder than you have before.” stated the old man before taking a seat near the Immortals.
Soon the matches began and it had turned out the winner would remain in the ring until defeated, the rules of defeat were forfeit, death, or ring out. Souta felt it made for an interesting Trial set this way, allow the best to remain to show his prowess and if their was no one who could beat them than that would show the obvious superiority.
Eventually it became Souta’s turn though and he was facing a youth with heavily calloused fists, he had just overtaken the previous reigning champ in the ring and was obviously ready to remain inside but it was for not.
The moment he had made a move Souta was in front of him and had chopped him in the neck knocking him out cleanly.
