Shadow Of The World - Chapter 13 Flying Without A Shadow
Souta cringed as he realized he was caught red handed but instantly felt relief when he saw that it was Nagini who had found him.
“Brother Souta what are you doing here” asked Nagini curiously.
“I will be honest with you, I came to check out a few techniques but I didn’t have the merits. Do you think it would be possible for you to pretend you never saw me” asked Souta as he reached behind his back and gripped a kunai.
“Souta you idiot, hurry up and go. Don’t let anyone see you or we are all in trouble” sighed Nagini as she opened a path for Souta.
Souta smiled sheepishly and exited the hall the same way he entered before returning to his yard.
Looking over the various fist techniques he had taken he found that while upon first glance they seemed like exactly what he needed it was actually not the case.
Sighing to himself Souta began practicing anyways, though looking at his feet you found that while his steps were odd they seemed incredibly profound in the way they planted onto the ground. Suddenly it was like a whirlwind had been kicked up and Souta was falling from the sky panicking, unsure of what was happening he smashed into his yard causing a ruckus.
‘The hell just happened’ thought Souta trying to calm his heart.
He had been a shinobi in his past life but he was usually prepared when he did a free fall, flying into the air out of the blue was still something that would kickstart his heart. Unknown to him the technique Shadowless flight was a mystic technique as well as a martial technique.
By incorporating the stability of a Martial practitioner with the heaven defying energy of a mystic practitioner one would be able to achieve flight before they had reached the immortal realm.
Souta calmed himself and continued practicing, gradually he began to gain enlightenment over the techniques. So much so that he had even begun to ignore the knocking on his door, even his precious tribute.
A month had gone by with the sect looking heavily fortified and a tense air floating about it, inside the yard that Souta resided he could be seen but he seemed taller. If one were to look at his feet then they would be able to witness the ability of flight as he levitated above the ground but his breathing seemed to be strained as the faintest of movements could be seen from his feet.
Breathing deeply he placed his feet back onto the ground and wiped the sweat from his head, the Shadowless flight technique was a marvel in his mind and had only made him hunger for other Mystic techniques.
Stepping outside of his yard he found Liam and Ginjuro waiting and all about them were different bottomless bags of varying fullness.
“How did you collect so many and why do some of these look full” asked Souta confused.
“We asked everyone and after hearing it was for you they gave us as many as they could, as for the ones that look full some are filled with the tribute that you didn’t collect and the others are filled with hallucinogenic powder but some people who wish to curry favor with you gave us a different type of powder in order to please your wishes. Though some of these are from those who wished to accompany brother Souta seeing as you were a fearsome combatant in the tournament.” explained Ginjuro as he and Liam began separating the bags accordingly leaving the empty ones to one spot while the others were tested to see their contents..
Souta was a bit amazed and grabbed a bag and examined it, and just laughed heartily before tossing a few bottles of bone tempering pills to Liam and Ginjuro.
“Take these to Nagini as well, I won’t be able to team up with anyone as I will be heading out tonight, the war is gonna start sooner than what the sect was hoping for but I assure you that it will end quicker than it ever would have. Unfortunately this might be where we have to say goodbye to each other.” started Souta who received looks of disbelief from Liam and Ginjuro.
“Brother what do you mean you may not return” demanded Ginjuro picking up his staff while Liam retrieved his club.
“I mean that there is a high probability that I am going to leave the sect after I hit the Mystic sect” explained Souta.
“We can’t let you do that brother, what will happen to us without your support” demanded Ginjuro taking a stance.
“Simple, rely on your own merits” answered Souta
“What about Nagini and the other sisters” asked Liam who gained a bit of an edge to his gaze anticipating the answer.
“I will fade from her memory and become something akin to a mirage” answered Souta ducking under a club strike.
“You really think it will be as easy as you have said, Nagini doesn’t see you as a passing fancy. She fully intends to dedicate herself to you for the rest of her life and you dare have such a traitorous thought” demanded Liam swinging madly.
Souta continued ducking and dodging the swing and suddenly placed his palm against Liam’s chest causing his eyes to widen but instead of the expected explosion it was simply a light push causing him to fall on his butt.
“My friends, not everything can last forever. Eventually the koi must leap through the dragons gate to soar among the skies. I hope that we can meet again and still retain the friendship we have built during our time together” said Souta as he began to rise into the sky and the bags and items scattered throughout the yard seemed to be summoned by him and disappeared into the Bottomless sack as if they had never existed.
Flicking a medallion with a bit of his blood on it Souta left.
Liam and Ginjuro looked at the medallion and couldn’t help it as tears fell from their eyes, this simple looking medallion was a beacon that would allow the one who placed the first drop of blood on it to find the one possessing it no matter the distance as long as their blood was also dripped onto it.
“BROTHER SOUTA” cried the two as they looked around the yard that had carried so many fond memories for them.
Gritting their teeth they looked at one another and nodded seemingly coming to an understanding.
‘Brother, you may have been reckless with your words upon your departure but this is a bond that we cannot let be broken’ thought the two in unison.
Unknown to Souta he had not performed as he had intended.
