She’s That Knight Known As Zero - Chapter 264
A year has passed since the war. The help that the three kingdoms offered arrived a month after Kaoru’s ascension. People are also getting used to him being an eccentric king.
Though everyone was completely stupefied upon seeing his character outside of the battle ground. The knights would hear a person throwing a tantrum every morning during the meeting so slowly they got used to it.
They would even think that Raven was far older than they are as he pacify their king who would sometimes be too lazy to do anything. They only knew that at times, when Kaoru was given tea and snacks, his work efficiency was far higher.
“So you will be returning in another week?”
The current head knight of Hesperian Kingdom, Shin, who was just in his early thirties, asked as he follow Raven. The youngest among the three remaining generals. The other two, Yuma and Warren, became the ministers.
The captains were then given multiple tasks that would show their capabilities, both physically and mentally, before they were promoted as Generals. Since the numbers are still few, there are only six squads in Hesperian Kingdom.
“I only stayed longer because of his eccentricity. I should have returned the moment the help have arrived. Well once I return, all this tasks would fall on your hands. The ministers are still busy in establishing the new laws and regulations,” Raven replied.
The two of them are on their way to Kaoru’s office, Raven have had Shin follow him around in order for Shin to be acquainted to what Raven had been doing.
Luckily, this kind of job was also what Raven had been doing under Rino who was training to be the next king.
Despite being younger, Shin respects Raven. A lot of people have challenged Raven all through out his stay in Hesperian Kingdom and not one have defeated him.
They only knew that he and Kaoru was somehow in equal footing, to which he replied, “If that man have seriously taken up his sword and train diligently then I wouldn’t be in equal with him.”
People believes him only because of what Kaoru have shown during the challenge. If not for that, no one would really believe Raven at all.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
The two looked at each other when they didn’t hear any response from inside. Even after waiting for quite a while.
Raven opened the door and they were welcomed with an empty office.
“Somehow I have a bad feeling,” Shin commented.
The last time the two of them saw Kaoru was last night in his office and not one of the servants have seen him this morning. So people presumed that he stayed all night in his office.
There are a few times where he did stay the night. It was the rarest moments where he did his work seriously.
As they approached the table, a parchment was in the middle.
~I took everything you have to bring back, I shall do it on your behalf. I’m leaving this place in your hands, I’ll just get back our queen. ^_^v~
He even draw a smiling face with v sign.
Shin slowly looked at Raven, Kaoru was obviously gone, he left for Aurora Kingdom.
“R- Raven?” Shin asked after a few minutes of Raven not speaking and just returned the letter to the table.
“Get everyone who was guarding the main gates from last night till this morning. I want to see them in the training ground.”
That was all and he left the office. Shin could only swallow his questions when they were tasked to meet him at the training ground. This only meant that they are about to meet hell.
There are three knights on guard during the period Raven have said. As they approach, they were even laughing. Saying how admirable their king was to go out of his way to take back their queen.
Yet their smiles froze upon seeing Raven who shows nothing with his expression.
And their smiles turned to sorrow after they were beaten black and blue by him for letting their king get away from his work.
The admiration that they had turned to curses after the beating they received from Raven.
On the other hand, after disciplining the three of them. Raven sent a letter to Akihiro. Letters arrive faster after all, the letter was mainly to inform Akira to give him hell. Not just because of how he pushed her away but also because of him ditching his work.
Shin who was silently following Raven felt like he was threading ice. Raven have always been the serious and stern type but he have seen him punish Kaoru over and over again.
Raven noticing the nervousness of his companion sighed, “I won’t eat you. I am only doing this for his niece. She would have done the same if she was here.”
“Niece?” Shin asked after finally hearing Raven speak.
“Yes, the one named Eureka,” Raven replied as he started fixing the doc.u.ments scattered around Kaoru’s table.
“Tha one named Eureka? The king have a niece with that name?” Shin was baffled, he couldn’t remember such a name. Only Rino and Nana. And the new born Hikari.
Raven’s movements stopped as he look back up at Shin.
“He has. We talked about her a few months ago,” Raven said seriously.
And somehow for the second time of the day, he was feeling bad.
“I’m sorry, I really couldn’t recall. Who was she?” Shin asked again full of uncertainty.
“I’m giving you another task. Go all over the kingdom and see if someone knew the girl named Eureka. You can ask others for help to finish it today. I want to hear the report before this day ends,” without answering his question, Raven instead said.
Though confused by the sudden appearance of such name, Shin still went out to do what he was asked for.
Raven went out to the balcony of the office after sending Shin out.
He could still clearly remember. During the first days of Kaoru being the king. People were curious of the 12 pillars of war. In addition to that, the questions regarding Eureka, the one who had the two strongest abilities, were much more than the others.
He knew he might be jumping to conclusions and Shin might really be just someone who forgets easily but if what he thinks is really the case. Then…
“What the hell have you done this time?!?!” he asked as he grits his teeth, clenching his hands into a fist.
He was on edge for the whole day and was becoming impatient. He couldn’t even focus on his work but couldn’t flare up either. The whole kingdom’s population was still big.
Even those who are working under him was feeling his restlessness. Something they never felt from him. He was always in control and was always calm.
Even when he was faced with so many ladies wanting to date him, he could still calmly reject them either normally or coldly.
Just as the sun was about to set, Shin finally returned to report in front of him.
“Every Hesperian people have no idea or have heard that the king had a niece named Eureka.”
Raven fell silent the instant he finished his sentence.
He could only think how this is possible. A lot of them still speak of her name on the early weeks he was here. What had happened now? Why did they suddenly forget about her?
As he contemplates, he realized something from Shin’s words.
“Hesperian people? What about those who came from Aurora Kingdom?”
Aurora sent knights and people as help. Confederate sent foods and crops as help. While Archic sent equipments as help. Each kingdom sent different helps.
“That is, a few of them were wondering why I was suddenly asking about her which implies that they knew who she was. The remaining number had no idea either. Somehow this brought confusion to those who knew,” Shin did his best regarding this task.
He can see how Raven’s emotions changed after knowing that they didn’t know who Eureka is.
Raven tried his best to remain calm, as he took a few deep breaths, “Tell me. Do you have any idea of the difference between this people?”
Shin, who found it weird as well, have took it to himself to know that difference without Raven telling him.
“Those who knew her…. never died.”
Raven felt like something exploded inside his head. He felt dizzy and confused.
Would this mean that those who died forgot about hearing her name? Would it end to them? Or is this the beginning of something he never wanted to happen?
“Shin, I have to really return this time. I shall guide you as much as I can for a week. My plan of returning shall push thru. With the two of us not here, I shall leave everything to the three of you. I know I can trust you. I’ll make sure that your king will return after he stays there for a month.”
This meant that Kaoru would be gone for utmost two months and they would be left on their own for about 7 weeks.
Raven have then informed the two ministers regarding the plan as well. Seeing the urgency in his face. They have accepted the current condition and promised to make sure that there would be no problem until Kaoru’s return.
