She’s That Knight Known As Zero - Chapter 266
Knowing the time Raven would arrive, Yukimura took it to himself to be on guard at the main gate for the days closest to Raven’s arrival. He knew once his son arrives, he would want to know the answer instantly.
Close to dawn of Raven’s 9th day of travel, he arrived at Aurorra Kingdom. He lessened the normal 14 days of travel by five days. He really rushed as much as he can to find out the answer.
He was always calm and all but seriously, when it comes to her, he really had a tremendous change in emotions.
“Father,” he jumped down of his horse to greet his father.
“Let’s walk to the castle, you need to report to the king,” Yukimura nodded as he walked ahead.
A walk to the castle from the main gate will take thirty minutes at max. Yukimura wanted to use that in order to speak with Raven. That will also allow them to speak without anyone really understanding what they were talking about.
Adding to that was the fact that it was close to dawn, so many people are still asleep or still within their households preparing for the day.
After making sure that they are a bit far from the main gate already, Yukimura finally spoke, “Just as you have thought, those who died before the Reset has no recollection of her. Even those who asked incessantly about her.”
Raven had his fists clenched upon hearing this, “If that is the case then surely this won’t end to them.”
Yukimura glanced at him before looking ahead, “What do you think is this all about then?”
“Sometimes I wish I don’t have the capability to notice this subtle things about her. Then maybe I would stop thinking and coming close to the right answer,” Raven smiled bitterly.
Yukimura could only pat his shoulder, indeed Raven was truly smart compared to his peers. He had his own conjectures and sometimes, those conjectures were the right answers.
“I thought about it, if this was the payment, surely it should have been done the instant she disappeared or that light disappeared or at most the day after the Reset. My other thought was that this is something she had wanted. If she couldn’t return, she wouldn’t want all of us to suffer from waiting.”
Their footsteps resounded on the pavement, since it is still early the place was still quiet. The sound of their foot steps brought a bad feeling for Yukimura, a bad feeling of what Raven would say next. Just like when you didn’t want to look back but you can tell that a ghost is behind you imitating the sound of your footsteps.
“If she returns, she may no longer remember us, I became certain of that when we didn’t lose our memories. Then what if she won’t return? Basing it on her personality, she wouldn’t want us to suffer, that’s why the moment I heard that one of the people whom I spoke about Eureka had forgotten about her not long after, I already had a bad feeling.”
“There might come a time, that we would forget about her, father.”
Yukimura could somehow hear a booming sound inside his head. Akihiro’s face of sadness and depression flashed through his mind.
“Is there anything we can do about it?” despite being the father, he was the one asking his son on what they should do.
“Did you know father that I asked Shin back in Hesperian the next day regarding Eureka?”
Yukimura furrowed his brows, what was this all about now?
“He… had forgotten I tasked him about Eureka. I could only repeatedly speak to them about her. Everyday they would ask why the sudden change of plans of me still going back. I had to tell them over and over again about her. Until the day of my departure, for sure right now, they no longer remember why I had to return.”
Yukimura stopped walking as he look in terror at his son. Raven looked back at his father and sighed.
“Which means we can’t do anything about it. We can only wait that she returns before we forget or that we will forever forget about her.”
His eyes swimmed in sadness upon finishing his sentence. He sighed once again before he started walking back to the castle.
“But who could do this? Someone still have their ability?” Yukimura couldn’t help but ask.
“Maybe, who knows. But this proves that that person whom she left this task with is someone very very strong to make sure that no matter how much people would remind others, they wouldn’t remember anything about her.”
After taking another few steps in silence, they were disrupted by another voice.
“Come on Akito, you have to help me out. I sent you a letter didn’t I? Help your friend out here will you?”
Just as they approach the castle gates, they saw Akito walking out and Kaoru holding unto his thigh as he was being dragged along.
“I don’t know who you are, let go of me and don’t bother me again,” Akito replied as he kept walking.
“NOOOO!! You can’t do this to me. The first time I visited Akira, she walked past me without looking at me. The second, I went to her office to speak with her but I was treated like a wind. The third, she pointed a syringe in my throat when I tried to hold her. The fourth, I was thrown out of her office. You have to help me here, I couldn’t even utter another word before I was thrown out.”
Akito sighed and stopped walking, Kaoru smiled as he looked up at him. Then the next moment a syringe was right in front of his eyes.
“You just gave me a wonderful idea. Will you let go of me? Or will you let go of your eye sight?”
Right after the last word, Kaoru’s hand was raised in the air as he took two steps back. After this Akito went his way and started walking again, Kaoru once again wailed but didn’t try to hold unto him in fear that he will do what he had just said.
After seeing this scene Raven remembered something, “What about sir Leo?”
Yukimura was first taken a back before replying, “Well he was already past that stage but once Azusa says so, Layla wouldn’t even bother with him. I’d say that they somehow had the same fate. Kaoru and Leo, that is.”
“Well they can bring them more hardship to make them understand what they missed because of their own circ.u.mstances but do remind them. They might suddenly lose them for real if they take too long.”
“I’ll stay in the garden for now, it is still quite early to report.”
After saying all these he walked ahead, since the sun just started rising, Akihiro is surely still eating or have just woken up. It is very much inappropriate for him to disturb him.
Yukimura could only watch his son’s back without saying anything. He must still be in deep thought of what other outcome would this bring. On when will they forget about the young lady.
“What future!! What certainly!! What surely!! Damn it!!” after arriving at the garden, Raven was facing a tree as he grits his teeth.
His mind had been on this matter after realizing what was happening, that is why he had came up with so many conjectures. But all of it still leads to them forgetting about her. If she returns before they completely forget about her then she would be there in that future.
But if she don’t then no one would remember that she had ever promised them about a future.
And if she do returns and all of them had already forgotten about her, would their memories return? Or would she have to stay alone all over again?
*BANG*
The tree swayed after its trunk was punched real hard. Blood dripped down from his knuckles but he can’t seem to feel it as he once again punched the trunk. He was very mad but he can’t just lash out, he can’t tell this to the others yet.
It might still be uncertain but his heavy heart tells him otherwise. And if it is indeed the case, then he will just carry this burden until all of them have completely forgotten about her.
*****
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. You’ve hurt him all over again. You really have a knack on hurting those dear to you, don’t you?”
The man stood at one of the balconies of the castle as he look at Raven, punching the poor tree.
He supported his head with his hand as his left fore finger taps on the surface.
“Who told you to be this attentive. If you just left everything without wondering then you wouldn’t be this hurt right now. Surely ignorance is a bliss, without knowing anything, you can just wait until you forget, you wouldn’t even know that you had forgotten.”
His face didn’t show any emotion, whether pity or sadness. He’s just a plain spectator in this world.
“Spectator, yeah right, in the end I still need to do so many troublesome things.”
