She’s That Knight Known As Zero - Chapter 303
Somehow his eyes were so clear. He can clearly see the target his mother was pointing at. He can also feel the soft wind and his surrounding that could cause the arrow to deviate.
After taking all of this into consideration he released the arrow.
*WHOOSH*
*BANG*
It went like the wind and hit the target right in the middle. The arrow head pierced through, half of it within the target.
Keitaro’s eyes grew wide as an unexplicable feeling rose inside him. A wide smile broke in his face as he look at his mother and father in delight. Both were smiling at him warmly.
Eureka took the bow from him and took another arrow, “People always think that the front lines were where heroes were born, but in reality there are heroes born from the backlines as well. Without their long range support, you really can’t defeat all your enemies just by charging forward.”
Keitaro watched Eureka as she positioned herself and pulled the string, without taking so much time she released the arrow.
*WHOOSH*
*BANG*
The sound of the wind was stronger even the sound of the arrow hitting the target. The arrow pierced through the target, burrying half of itself in the tree where the target was.
Keitaro was once again amazed, this is the first time he saw his mother using the bow and arrow. And the stories that remained back then was all about her using her dual swords.
Adding to the fact that only a handful could remember of her identity during the war.
“Mom you really are amazing,” he couldn’t help but to compliment.
Eureka smiled once again, “So what do you think? For me, I think you are much more compatible with the bow and arrow. The way you consider things before you attack is your shortcoming at a short range attack. But if you do it from a distance, you can see everything and you can consider everything. The way you attack will become stronger and you’ll have more choices.”
Keitaro listened as he realized how much his parents were watching over him, Eureka could even tell that his mind was working during a sparring which delayed his attacks causing him to lose against his opponents.
“Adding to that, when Theo first used the bow and arrow, the arrow dropped directly in front of him. Well that is in the premise that he had incorpporated his ability the first time he tried. Your Aunt Nana, from what I heard, her first arrow almost pierced through the head of the attendant who was 5 meters on the side of the target.”
She handed him the bow and smiled, “Your first try is truly remarkable.”
Keitaro couldn’t help but to look intently at the bow in his hands. That’s right he never felt so at ease whenever he holds his sword, but somehow for the first time he felt some resonance as he hold the bow and use it.
“I’ll do it. I’ll train hard and be able to do what you can mother.”
Eureka shakes her head, “Don’t copy me. Try hard and be able to do something only unique to you.”
“But before that, in order for you to fully utilize your compatibility with the bow, we’ll have to give you a haircut. Your hair is already too long,” Raven added as he stood up and pulled up Kaito’s bangs.
“We also need to change that glasses of yours. That doesn’t fit a knight at all.”
Keitaro who has no power against his parents was pulled to a salon the very next day and was bought a new glasses. This galsses have accentuated his facial features which became even more visible after his hair cut.
After all of this, they went home as per Keitaro’s request. He was eager to train, it was their weekend after all. He has no classes and he can train under his mother’s guide.
He was like a fish that just met the water. For so long, he had been searching for the feeling his brother had discribed, when you felt like you are in resonance with your weapon.
The day ended and night came. Another person came, he has the same orange hair and orange eyes as Raven.
Kazuma who was their eldest child was already a knight and is currently a vice captain of squad 4.
He was on duty for the past days, he just returned now and was lead by the sound of something hitting the tree to the garden. Standing by the door was his father.
Looking outside, he was welcomed by the scene of Keitaro using the bow and arrow to hit a target in the tree. The target was much smaller than the target last night. Kazuma then saw his mother guiding him.
“Dad, Mom, she?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“Your mother was one of the best archers back then. She was actually the teacher of your aunt Nana and uncle Theo,” Raven explained.
Kazuma had the same reaction as Keitaro last night. Then his eyes went to his brother’s face. He couldn’t help but to smile.
“I never saw him that happy and contented before when he uses the sword.”
“Eureka and I thought about it and made him try archery, who would have thought that he was actually a natural to it? That target was three times smaller than the target he tried last night. He improved tremenduously within just a few hours,” Raven then explained as the two of them kept watching Keitaro and Eureka.
As Keitaro wiped his the sweat in his face, he noticed how his brother was already there watching him. With a bright smile that matches his age, he waved at his brother, “Brother, brother I found it. The resonance that you were talking about.”
Kazuma gave a happy grin as he approached his younger brother and messed up his hair, “And your new hair cut and new glasses are a match made in heaven for your archery. I never thought I have such a handsome brother.”
Raven’s had his arm around Eureka’s shoulder, as they watch their two children happily taking to each other.
Outside, Keitaro would be indifferent towards things. He’d study as he pleases, he’d train as he pleases.
It was only at home would he show such childlike behavior where his parents and brother are.
Well, at times he would show it to his cousins and friends but not as open as he was right now.
As the family have their dinner.
“So what are you planning now? Another two years you will be done with the academy,” Kazuma was the one asking.
“I want to be a knight of course but I feel like there’s something else I want to do,” was his reply.
“Why do I have the feeling that you wanted to roam around before becoming an official knight?” Eureka commented as she listened to the two of them.
“Are you talking about the maps and geographical notes he had?” Raven added.
“Why can’t we keep secrets from the two of you?” Kazuma complained.
It had always been like this, their parents would always know everything with just little clues they inevitably show.
Raven raised an eyebrow, “Why just how many secrets do you want to keep?”
“No, he is still feeling wronged because we actually knew that he likes another captain,” Eureka teased her son even more.
Eureka’s character have indeed changed after all these years. And the most change was her enjoyment on teasing other people, especially her children.
“Mom!!” Kazuma turned red upon hearing this, he had kept it for so long but just one visit from his mother and she already knew.
“Seriously brother, you do remember that it was mom who did the matchmaking to everyone back then. She was the one who gave them advises, it was already the uncles and aunties who said so,” Keitaro joined in as he placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder.
“You brat,” Kazuma who was already beet red, grabbed Keitaro by the neck and ruffled his hair.
The table was filled with laughter and warmth.
“But…”
After calming down, Keitaro continued their first topic, “I still have a long time to think about it. It’s just travelling is somehow enticing.”
He was enticed because his mother have been to so many places.
Everyone knew that once upon a time, their world was filled with magical abilities.
And a few of them knew that it was his mother who took it to herself and removed it. She came from an adventure and went to another.
She had always been moving, they said. Even after getting married and being with his father.
The two of them went out and roamed around in order to take down the rebels.
The children of group zero of course knew that Eureka was removed from the memories of almost everyone except those who are closest to her.
She only became famous once again because of her and Raven killing those rebels who are threatening the peace they have created.
He became enticed with an adventure because of all of these. He wanted to explore the places his mother couldn’t go.
He wanted to know everything that was out there.
