- Chapter 36 – Part 1
“You know, there are also times when noona wants to be alone. Do you have to follow her?”
Frey quietly glanced at both Lisandro and me, but he didn’t move. It seemed that he suffered quite a blow after he was attacked by Frey.
“Yeah, I have to go after her. You’ll do the same.”
“If I don’t?”
“That’s funny. You…?”
Even though they were obviously smiling, why was it so scary…?
Lisandro was calmly smiling, and Frey, who was in between us, was innocently smiling that I felt goosebumps on my body. Although I was probably used to it now, I didn’t have time to get used to their bloody expressions because they had never properly shown it to me.
While they were vigilant and fighting among themselves like this, they quickly gazed at me and removed their scary expressions.
“Is it your hobby to fight whenever you see each other?”
Their mouths shut tight.
I guessed it was their hobby, after all, seeing that they neither answered yes nor no. I stretched lazily as I shook off the useless thoughts.
Since I heard Frey’s answer, it was now time to tell mother about my plan and carry it out. We should quickly put it into action. Modern people act quickly—although I was no longer a modern person now, I wanted to put it into action as soon as possible.
Fortunately, my mother said that she would support me no matter what I did.
She told me when I was young that she would support and cheer for me, so I decided to go to the temple without further delay. We also had to ask about the temple’s opinion. They probably wouldn’t refuse it because they had been watching me grow up the closest since I was young.
This time, I also planned to leave Verdo behind. He wasn’t much needed on this trip, along with his cold words.
“You’re going to the temple”
“Yes. You’re coming with me, right?”
“It’s only natural that being the saint’s escort is my duty, but…”
Verdo frowned as if he was unwilling.
“Do you perhaps not want to?”
“That’s not it, but it has only been a week since the rumors had died down. Though if you leave now…”
It was difficult to stop a rumor unless people stopped talking about it. The worse the rumors, the worse the gossip. The rumor that I, a saint, had been possessed by an evil spirit turned out to be false, yet there were still those who considered it suspicious.
Nevertheless, some people would not want to end like the ones who were captured this time, so they couldn’t speak out loud and swallowed it back. Perhaps, that was what Verdo was concerned about.
“Sir Verdo will protect me.”
“Of course, I will.”
He answered fast.
Even if he refused, he was left with no choice but to follow me as long as I said I would go.
I had already been preparing, so I just put on my robe and headed to the carriage. When I opened the front door, Lisandro was standing crookedly and staring at Verdo.
Why is he here?
“I asked for another escort, but it was my brother who came out. Please, let me know if you feel uncomfortable.”
“I’m not.”
There wasn’t much change in his expression, so I couldn’t guess what he was thinking. I stared at him though Lisandro suddenly came in between us.
“Noonim, let’s go quickly.”
“Ah, mm. But you’re busy, that’s why you call someone else.”
“Are you crazy? How can I trust them and entrust my sister to them?”
He frowned as he escorted me.
A monster suddenly appeared in the Bongru Mountains, but it was close to Dawphilles among the estates of the Rohelio family. Even though there was no damage as it wasn’t a very powerful monster, my mother felt it was suspicious that there were quite a few monsters, so she sent Lisandro for the first time to investigate the cause.
While it wasn’t abnormal to see monsters on the continent, it was another topic if they appeared inside the safe zone.
The safe zone could literally be said to be the land God had blessed that monsters couldn’t access. It was said that it had the opposite energy of monsters inside, so the monster itself couldn’t withstand the energy and couldn’t even approach.
Even if they can approach it, they are not as half as how strong they usually are. As fear was laid down on the floor, they wouldn’t come near to the safe zone themselves.
The Angelus Empire was born with the blessings of Gods and saints, and its safe zone was far greater and wider than other countries.
A considerable amount of land was possessed and was trusted to mother, and Dawphilles was one of them. It was naturally strange because not one or two animals attacked the village, but a group of them.
As it was his first assignment from mother, he was busy preparing for this and that. I picked knights I would take with me separately, that was why I asked for someone else.
Anyway, I got into the carriage, and Lisandro and Verdo got on their horses and went guarding each side of the carriage. It was also thanks to the rumors, though thanks to the increasingly new facilities, the number of times I went to the temple had rapidly decreased.
The temple I had been to for a long time was still crowded.
In addition to our family, there was more support coming from other families, and the people who had received the grace of the temple had come to voluntarily serve. So, there was no chance for the number of people to decrease at any time.
It was said that the priests were able to breathe thanks to that.
I looked at the people’s eyes as I went inside the temple. I didn’t do anything in the first place, so I walked confidently as if I didn’t care about the rumors. Rather, Lisandro stood up as if he was protecting me because he was anxious.
Seeing me walking proudly, as usual, they knew it would be the case, so they were gazing at me sympathetically.
“Your Holy Saint.”
“I can see you pretending to be alright.”
“This is all because of the rumors… Saint was the only one who suffered from them.”
“Tch, I knew they’d be in trouble any time. What do they mean by an evil spirit?”
When I heard the voices of those whispering in a worried tone and were angrier than me, I was more surprised and tilted my head.
“It was mother’s work, noonim.”
Lisandro said it as if it was nothing.
Only then did I understand their attitude. He was just like mother, seeing how he had solved the case neatly until the end.
