Shut-in Magician - Chapter 72-75
Chapter 072: Sleepover
Shiu made lunch by himself.
He’d made rice since it was a Japanese style meal, but he was more surprised that the boys had eaten it before.
Alestro mingled with the nobles from Shayṭān, so he’d eaten rice before and he praised that it was more delicious than when he ate it previously.
However, he liked food that old people liked, for example meat and potato stew and pickled dishes.
Viktor and Reigdole were easy to read and he made them tempura and food cooked in soy sauce and cooking sake.
Antony had been to Doran’s eatery before and he really liked the fried shrimp with tartar sauce.
Tartar sauce was extremely popular at Doran’s eatery and people even asked him if he would sell it separately. He was in the middle of thinking about this.
They studied like students in the afternoon.
Each of them taught their specialities while preparing and reviewing.
And it was a good experience for Shiu to listen to them.
Shiu taught Viktor about the basic ideas of conservation techniques.
It was useful for him to have taught Emina, Aqela, and Kiahi’s party. Kiahi and his party were high levelled, so it might be better to say that he was only really teaching Gladius.
Gladius’ MP wasn’t that high.
“So those knights also conserved their MP while fighting?”
“Yes. The Three Eyed Bear was defeated in no time.”
“The Three Eyed Bear? That’s amazing.”
“Even you can defeat it, can’t you Viktor?”
“No, I don’t have a sword anymore.”
“But you can read other’s fighting styles right? That’s what matters.”
“…… So that’s what you meant?”
“Whether your opponent is a person or a beast, it’s important to keep a cool head and read your opponents attacks. Fighting is much more than just swinging a sword around.”
“…… It does imply that huh. I see. So it’s like that.”
“Viktor you have wind attribute magic, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, Viktor, it’ll be easier if you can get him to teach you everything,” Reigdole, who was next to them, interrupted them. He was still in the middle of his drills and heard their conversation.
Viktor looked at him as if saying, “What do you mean?”
“He also taught me how to use my magic.”
“Is that so? Then, you understand,” he said as he told them that he had level 3 wind magic and level 1 fire and unattributed magic. If his wind magic was at level 3 then he could perform fantastic attacks.
This meant he could also cast vacuum waves 1)Author uses the name of a yokai that cuts people with wind. However, it was hard to think about it so it might be better to try another way.
“I wonder if a cylinder would be better. Get that ready and squeeze the air into it.”
“Huh?”
“Then fire an air gun. It’s a great attack.”
They didn’t know what he meant, so two people went down to the laboratory on the first floor and Shiu explained it to him.
He practiced it several times and Viktor smiled when he understood it.
“I think you can use it to defend, seize or attack.”
“Good point. Oh yeah, if I add fire attribute.”
“Your fire attribute is only level 1. If so, then you might be able to amplify it with wind magic.”
“I can surprise the opponent and draw his attention. This is important even if it lasts for only a second.”
Viktor wanted to be Alestro’s guard in the future.
He might be suited for guard work.
“You can train even if you can’t use swords. If you do that then you can deal with any attack.”
“Yeah. I’ll do my best.”
He returned to the second floor with Viktor who seemed motivated. Reigdole and Antony were explaining wood and light attribute to Alestro.
Alestro had neither of those attributes.
Everyone helped with dinner.
None of them had ever stepped into the kitchen and they were confused at first, but they soon got excited.
It felt like they were experimenting or playing around.
“Now, break the egg. Ah, no, if you do that then you can’t use what’s inside!”
They would hit the egg on the ground when they were told to break it.
“Mix the eggs, ah, magic is not allowed!”
I won’t name them, but someone tried to rotate it with wind magic.
“Finely chopped doesn’t mean mince. Your eyes hurt? It’s obvious that onions would sting your eyes. But it’s delicious, you know! Ah, hey, I said magic is not allowed. You guys, you’re wrong to think you can use magic on such a tender dish when you can’t even control it! This is terrifying.”
They continued while quarreling like that.
“Shiu is like super serious when it comes to cooking, isn’t he?”
“I thought that Shiu never got angry.”
“His eyes look scary. His eyes.”
“I’ve been banned from using wind magic……”
Each of them whispered and they made food (?) according to Shiu’s instructions.
As a result they were able to make many wonderful dishes.
Although most of it was made by Shiu, everyone seemed deeply moved that they were able to cook themselves and ate happily.
The menu for dinner was a Shayṭān style dish for the main. It was made from cheese, potatoes and bread.
Some of Shiu’s originals were also served for dinner and everyone enjoyed them.
They were especially surprised when they saw the consommé.
It was difficult to prepare meat and vegetable stock, and when he said that it could be condensed and cooked together at once, the boys tried to connect that to business. The hearty boys also talked about wanting to eat this and that.
It was a fun time.
Everyone took their plates after they finished eating and Shiu taught them each how to wash their plates.
It took some time, but they were able to wash it without breaking anything.
They also helped cleaned the bath. Shiu cleaned the bath with purification every day so it was fine, but since it was a sleepover he thought he should let them experience this.
They also did this happily.
They were especially loud when the water filled up all at once.
Although Shiu had sound proofed the room with spatial magic, they were being too loud.
The bath was big so they decided to enter all at once. There was even someone who got really excited and became dizzy.
Shiu won’t name them, since he had collapsed while naked and it would damage his honour.
Feles also joined them in the bath and everyone lined up in wait when Shiu cast 《DRY》on Feles.
They usually had someone wipe their body for them.
Reigdole wiped his body himself, but he had never used 《DRY》before.
They seemed interested in it and Alestro and Viktor, who had fire magic, asked him to teach this to them.
Shiu realised at this time that unlike what he’d thought, there may only be a very few people who used lifestyle magic.
He got Alestor and Viktor, Reigdole and Antony to sleep in each of the unused rooms.
He stealthily took out some beds from his special storage and set the blankets.
Everyone was delighted to sleep on fluffy, high-quality blankets.
They were surprised when he told them that it was packed with the feathers from Avis Aquatica. It was a luxury item after all.
“Shiu, you use luxury items here and there, huh ~.”
“I only heard that they were luxury goods when I first came to the Royal Capital. It’s normal for people who live in the mountains to harvest and make their own goods. And it’s easy to get your hands on goods if you become an adventurer.”
“They usually sell it for money, you know.”
“Shiu, you don’t seem to have money problems even though you’re a commoner.”
“You think so? It certainly feels like he’s taking it easy.”
Everyone stared at Alestro with eyes that said, “You’re one to talk,” but he didn’t notice this.
“He’s making a living from his patent fees after all.”
“Ah, you’re right.”
“Ooh, I see.”
That wasn’t the only thing he was receiving money for, but he certainly wasn’t having money problems.
He wanted to tell them that he was working properly to earn money, but most of his savings were as Reigdole had stated, so he kept quiet.
They changed into their pajamas and drank warm tea while talking about silly things which gradually made them tired so they each returned to their rooms.
Feles clung to Shiu as he slept.
Shiu also wanted to try bunking with friends. But, they probably couldn’t fall asleep anywhere but in a bed. He thought about secretly slipping in, but stopped since it was childish.
He also wanted to try pillow fighting. I should ask them if we get the chance to do this again.
Or he could try it if they had something like a school trip.
He had fun imagining such pleasant dreams and entered dreamland for real while petting Feles.

Chapter 073: A Successful Student Life?
The sleepover which turned out surprisingly fun ended successfully.
The carriage came to pick everyone up the next afternoon. Since the driver told Shiu that he would be dropped off at home afterwards, Shiu ended up riding with them.
It was his first time entering the noble block, but he usually saw it with 《EVERY DIRECTION SEARCH》and《OVERVIEW》, so there was nothing that surprised him.
After everyone was home, they told him that they would turn around to drop him off, but instead he refused and walked with Reigdole.
It was the noble block, but they were wearing their magic academy uniforms so no one criticised them.
He didn’t have any problems, but the guards stared at him a few times because the way he walked was weird.
They left the noble block and the upper east district and Reigdole relaxed once they returned to the central district.
On Fire day, he received a pass to freely go in and out of the noble block from Alestro as a thank you present.
“Father requested it so that you could come whenever you want,” he’d said.
On the back was Marquis Fedrick House’s name and emblem and the head butler’s and Alestro’s names were written at the front.
It seemed that this would be proof of Shiu’s status. He wondered why he got this as a thank you gift, but he didn’t intend to use it.
Alestro told Reigdole and the others that he would back them up if something happened, as if it was someone else’s business. In fact, they had received nothing.
But then, Reigdole could enter the noble district even though he was a child because wealthy merchant children had that right.
His school life was going well.
The teacher of the attribute class told him to take the exams often and skip grades, but there were still interesting things in the classes, so unfortunately he stayed.
It seemed unlikely for a teacher to do this, and he wondered why they were when they weren’t interfering much and found out from the Merchant Guild that they took several patents.
So, the school ordered MP MEASURING INSTRUMENTS in large quantities.
They made this decision because it was said that this magic tool was best used on new magicians.
The number of individuals who own this magic tool has also been increasing gradually.
And it seemed like people were asking if they could be taught about basic attributes when they found out about the producer’s abilities.
He was exempt from intermediate level magic theory and even from advanced.
It wasn’t necessary to take those classes if he could simplify or conserve magic formulas, so it ended without him having to take the exam.
Advanced culture classes included dance and others like it, and it was the class that Shiu was most worried over. He passed the etiquette class, but dancing and poetry were things he wasn’t good at.
He had no sense, so he couldn’t make a poem that would charm a lady; it was really horrible.
Alestro was also in the advanced class for this and he was a greater dancer than Shiu had imagined despite his usual calm demeanour.
Even though Algeo always had a frown on his face, he was also good at dancing and his poems mesmerised scary type girls.
He really is a noble.
The only commoner in this class was Shiu, so some people, including those from the upper grades, made a little fun of him. This couldn’t be helped since he was extremely bad at it, so he resigned himself to it.
In the end, Shiu was the only one who ended up taking something like a supplementary class for it.
He asked the departments if he could take classes in the higher grade for other subjects too, since they were the graduate and special departments.
The magic theory teacher, Urara, gave him high praises, so he was interviewed by each of the teachers in charge of the subjects. It seemed that they researched all magic, developed new techniques or devised new magic strategies.
The graduate and special departments were divided into several subjects, so it seemed that he could participate in those that interested him.
He found time to visit each of them.
As a result, he decided to join seven classes in the graduate department where analysis were done because his friends had said that development was better done alone.
These classes used the ancient language to research magic techniques so he should be able to study the ancient language in them.
There were other classes that only studied the ancient language, but it didn’t seem like they reached the level that Shiu wanted to be at.
In addition, the tactics teacher, Einar, strongly recommended that he skipped all the classes until advanced.
He didn’t want to take tactics since it was directly linked to war, but he thought it would be better to know it just in case something happened.
He took the classes as a result of thinking it through.
And since he showed up more in the advanced classes, his chances of meeting the senior students increased.
They were tough on commoners and he received a lot of negative comments.
They also couldn’t stomach the fact that Shiu was extremely calm during all this.
He had ignored them because they didn’t really pose any problems, but things escalated and some of them seemed to have started to physically harass him.
Seemed to, because another person had pointed this out to him.
It didn’t matter much to Shiu because he evaded them with 《EVERY DIRECTION SEARCH》.
Until the student council blocked his path that is.
How can I say this…?
They had really sparkling appearances.
“I’m Edvard Granberg. I’m in my fifth year, class one. The student president.”
Someone who looked like a servant behind Granberg explained that he was the second child of Marquis Granberg. Edvard himself was probably a strange person since nobles usually had their servants introduce them.
The servant told Shiu who the other girl was.
“This is Hildegard Cassandrsama. The eldest child of Duke Cassandra. She is in her fourth year, class one. She is currently the Vice President.”
“…… Hah,” was the only thing Shiu could answer with.
The servants were glaring at him.
By the way, almost everyone in Steigbahn looked Caucasian and had white skin, brown hair and light brown eyes and Shiu, without exception, had brown hair and dark brown eyes.
Reigdole and Antony had different shades of colours, but they were also the same.
However, the hue became vivid in nobles.
Alice had brown hair with hints of gold, and Alestro had green eyes.
Incidentally, Viktor, Cora and Christoph had rare black hair. However, it wasn’t jet black like Japanese hair, it was closer to dark brown.
Now then.
A glistening man and woman were standing before him.
Edvard had golden brown hair and very beautiful blue eyes. He had long hair and it was silky.
Hildegard was completely blonde and had beautiful amber eyes.
The followers behind them were also flashy, but these two were especially noticeable.
They were also good looking and their aura/atmosphere was amazing.
And Shiu just realised that everyone had long hair.
Do nobles keep long hair? I recall that a lot of noble children in my classes have long hair, they didn’t have short hair like Viktor.
He thought absentmindedly and someone cleared their throat.
It was the servants.
“Your name,” they pointed out in a small voice and Shiu finally noticed that he hadn’t given them his name.
“…… Shiu Aquila. I don’t have a surname and I have no family. Uh, do I say my job in this case? I’m a magician. 1 year, class one. Ah, hello.”
It became an extremely rude self-introduction that would get him a scolding from his culture teacher, Yvonne.
Also they had business with him, but he was troubled because the servant’s explanations were hard to understand. Edvard, who grew impatient, spoke simply and Shiu could finally understand what they wanted.
“I heard that you’re being bullied by the seniors. We can’t overlook this as the student council, so we want you to tesify.”
“Huh?”
“We’ll be holding a student council trial tomorrow at noon, so please attend.”
“Oh, I can’t.”
“What did you say?!” The servant shouted out in surprise.
“Well, I do have my reasons too. I didn’t even realise I was being bullied, so I can’t testify.”
“But, people around you have been saying this.”
“Then, you can just get them to do it, right? Tomorrow afternoon, or rather, my schedule is busy on weekdays. But thank you for your concern. If that’s all,” he said and bowed, ――― really lightly confirming to the customs of this world, ――― and left.
He finally realised that he was being bullied.

Chapter 074: Graduate Course; Class 7
The next day, Shiu’s senpai called him to class 7 in the graduate course.
“Are you okay? I heard you were getting bullied.”
The people in this class were all children of nobles, but a lot of them were called eccentric and didn’t fit in with noble society sometimes.
That was also why Shiu was interested in them.
“Apparently. I didn’t know it was happening though.”
“… You’re too aloof,” they accepted this fact.
“But, I heard that dirty water was thrown at you and that they poured oil on the stairs,” The class leader, Casper, said worriedly.
“I guess I didn’t notice it. I wasn’t injured either.”
He thought that the filthy water had been accidentally spilt and he didn’t get wet because he had avoided it, so it was fine. It was the same with the oil; he’d thought someone had spilt it and cleaned it up.
Just how thick can a person be when they don’t even realise that people are being vindictive to them?
“How can I say this? You’re loveable, aren’t you? I’m not in a position to say this, but nobles can be pretty unrelenting so be careful.”
“I will. Thank you.”
Casper was the 3rd son of Earl Bullard, but the main reason why he didn’t act like a noble at all was because he was here in the place called the den of weirdos. In other words, he interacted with others regardless of their appearance and status as long as they had the same interests.
Reigdole and Antony helped him search for graduate courses when he was thinking about which one to join.
“The student president is in my class right? Year five class one. His entourage is so annoying in the mornings. I don’t even care to listen to them, but it’s like they come to me anyway. Then, I heard Shiu’s name as they were rambling. A problem has occurred for one of my important class 7 classmates! Was what I thought and I got worried.”
“Ahaha.”
His senpai was good at looking after others.
Class 7 of the graduate class researched and analysed magic formulas in the ancient language.
It was more like a lab than a class room.
The teacher in charge was a baron named Eje Moltke and he had level 2 language magic.
By the way, Shiu didn’t have a chance to raise his level lately since he was careful not to cast appraisal on people without their consent. Galgrecia did say that it was a breach of manners after all.
However, old man Stan had said, “It’s also work to appraise people and your skills will rust if you don’t use it. So it’s fine as long as you don’t use it for anything bad.,” so he appraised people who might get acquainted with him or those who seemed like trouble.
Therefore, he had appraised everyone in his class.
There were interesting things like Eje’s language magic and Casper’s development magic.
There was also something that was known as fixed magic. This hadn’t been explained to him yet, so he didn’t want to ask; but Eje and Casper explained their magic to him when they had first met, and also talked enthusiastically about their research.
“At any rate, I have language magic, so I get carried away sometimes.”
“What?”
“I just can’t believe you understand the ancient language even though you don’t have language magic…… Uoah……”
Shiu was surprised because he didn’t think the teacher would cry.
“And even your pronunciation is nice. It sounds even better than the linguistic teacher at Seeker.”
“Sensei, you graduated from Seeker, didn’t you?”
“…… Uoah, I did…… I was at the bottom of my class though……”
“Shiu, leave Eje-sensei alone. Look at this.”
“Yeah. This is more important.”
All the students weren’t even fazed by sensei crying as they looked towards their own research.
Eje was the only one who was shocked when Shiu read the magic formula from an old book, and then he was extremely excited.
“But, there are books on the ancient language in the library. You’ll be able to understand it if you read it.”
“…… Do you know how many books the library has on ancient language?”
“Mm, 45 dictionaries and about 500 books related to it. There’s only a small amount. It’s annoying because there are a lot of inconsistencies. I entered this academy because I wanted to read the books at Seeker,” he said and someone grumbled, “It’s here. The birth of a new weirdo.”
The class became quiet and after a while, he saw people nodding.
As a matter of fact, it was next to impossible to analyse magic formulas written in the ancient language based on materials and dictionaries that were incomplete.
So, Shiu actively participated in class.
It was like a puzzle game and he was happy when he discovered things about the ancient language that he didn’t know before. He guessed what the words meant from the context and his classmates celebrated with him if he got it right; he fit in here more than he thought he would.
He had a great time discovering new magic and formulas he would have never imagined before.
On the other hand, the simplified magic formula, conservation technique, was also applied to formulas in the ancient language and attracted his attention.
“You don’t use a staff and you cast without arias, right? It’s too stable, even if you have a lot of tattoos in the ancient language. I’m sure there’s an explanation for this. I cast magic using arias in the ancient language but it’s not as stable as yours. Can you teach me the simplified magic formula next time? I want to know if there would be a difference in stability.”
“Okay. Anyway, here, take this. This is the foundation for ignition and water ball,” he passed a small book over and Casper snatched it.
“Am-amazing.”
“I got fed up with teaching my friends, so I made a textbook?”
“…… I see, okay, mm, so it’s like that.”
Shiu gave up since Casper wasn’t listening to him and flipped through an old book on magic formulas written in the ancient language.
He already had this book in his record storage, so it was a meaningless action, but he was feeling bored.
Then, Casper finally snapped out of it.
“It’s more stable this way. I see. It’s important that it’s easy to understand after all.”
“I think that magic is the difference in imagination. MP is also important for using powerful magic, but a firm image is needed to cast stable magic.”
“…… I see!”
In other words, it was stable and efficient to think in terms that are easy to understand.
This meant that it was better to use longer arias for a stable effect if one were to use the ancient language.
“Alright, I’m going to try it, 「IGNITION」!”
Shiu was surprised that fire had suddenly ignited in the classroom. There weren’t any safety measures.
“Then next is 『IGNITION』!”
The power increased. It was amazing how no one warned him. The teacher was still out of it and the other students were immersed in their own research.
“Now finally, 《Oh Spirit of Fire. Grace me with fire, IGNITE》.”
Casper’s last ignition was the smallest and it flickered a lot.
His control looked good because he used around the same amount of MP.
Which reminded Shiu that Casper was wearing an MP measuring instrument around his neck.
“Normal arias are too time consuming and unstable. I can only do this much even if I’m used to the ancient language. If people understood your simplified methods, then they can still cast magic with simple arias. Plus the magic is much more stable and powerful. Amazing! A new age of magic is coming!”
“It’s not practical.”
“It isn’t?”
“This content overturns the way people think. They would become puzzled by this information instead of understanding it. It would have an adverse effect. So, I don’t know if it’s better to continue with arias or inforce people’s imaginations.”
“But, you use this method, right?”
“Because I understand it. I also taught my friends about it because it was convenient. They’re still children after all. I have also taught those who would believe me. But I won’t announce it to the public.”
“Hmmm.”
“I thought of a way to simplify magic for people who have low MP, so I started this for a different reason. Also, rapid development poses a danger. I plan to live my life peacefully, so I won’t do the unreasonable. New ideas only receive persecution. Do you understand what I mean?”
“…… Yeah. Oh yeah, I only have an understanding of it.”
“I think strengthening the power of your imagination is more important than fussing over simplification.”
If he can imagine the result and understand it well then he could cast magic without the ancient language or arias.
In fact, this was what Shiu did.
Casper and the others thought that he could use magic without arias because of his lie, “I have ancient language formulas tattooed on my body.”
It was irritating but he kept quiet about it.
Magicians were people who didn’t reveal their tricks in the first place.
But they did get passionate when talking about research that they knew well. Like that, Casper also taught Shiu many things.
Casper had development magic and according to him, “It’s exactly like that. It helps me develop complex magic formulas. It’s really useful for strange things and complex magic. But I don’t have language magic, so I have to study the ancient language.” There were still limits to his magic since it was only at level 2, but if he mastered it then he would be able to accomplish amazing things. At any rate, he could open the black box.
Which meant that he would be able to solve the magic formulas that Shiu came up with. Shiu didn’t think that this ability was a threat, since he had patents on his magic tools. It was an interesting ability.

Chapter 075: Helping to Create Magic Tools
If you don’t want the magic formulas in magic tools to be copied, then there are, ultimately, ways to prevent this.
Shiu imitated those formulas and patented the simplified versions of them, by not disclosing the information that he really didn’t want people to know.
He’d heard that the people who could bestow the magic for the patents have been really busy lately. They were also complaining about it when he’d visited the Merchant Guild.
“You know that MP measuring instrument you thought up? It’s impossible to bestow the magic formula if the caster’s level isn’t high enough.”
“Ah, yes. It’s a little advanced. It’s hard for people who don’t have appraisal magic with at least a level 2 in metal and unattributed magic or level 4 bestowal magic.”
“…… The Loire Royal Academy ordered a large quantity of them. Citroe-san can’t handle the workload since a lot of people have been requesting it.”
“Citroe-san is the person who bought the patent from the Garn House, right? I see. Then should I help out as well?”
“…… Is that fine?”
Zafiro’s eyes sparkled as he asked this causing Shiu to consider that this might be a bit his fault too and nodded.
“But, I’m being called about a recipe from earlier so…”
“Oh! Of course, of course. Ah you’re really helping me here. Ok, so could you come back here a bit later? I’ll also prepare the request form. And you can help me with bestowing communication magic too.”
“That’s simple so it should be alright right?”
“Yeah…”
They talked about things like this before Zafiro headed to a small room in the back.
Shiu was very familiar with the area though and headed straight towards a different room.
The duty supervisor Erika was in the room and Shiu first greeted her before sitting down in a chair.
“I’ll get straight to it, about the dressing. Oryuza said that if he is allowed to use the dressing recipe then he will give up the rights to it. Is that alright?”
“As for me, Doran gave the recipe to Oryuza’s store so I would think that he holds the rights.”
“Such a conscientious store.”
Shiu laughed.
“I’d also like it if only Oryuza sold the dressing but he’s just short-handed. It’s popular so I understand his feelings about wanting to take a leap and start general sales of it.”
“This time I’d like to look for a place that will sell it as Oryuza’s dressing…. Do you think that’s possible?”
“Yes. Let’s try and start soliciting places using that condition.”
“Please and thank you.”
With that conversation over, Shiu left the room after finalizing the details on a few other matters.
Shiu accepted the request form from Zafiro and then went to Citroe’s store.
Shiu had only met face to face with Citroe once before, but he had left a good impression so Shiu remembered him well.
“Good afternoon.”
“Welcome!”
It was a large shop in the western district that did everything from manufacture of magical goods to the sales of them. It was good that even if a child like Shiu entered they wouldn’t get mad. At the merchant street in the eastern district some shops would get mad at people for just looking in from the outside.
“Are you, by chance, Aquilsama?” A man who looked like a clerk noticed him and immediately rushed out.
“Ah, yes. I’ve come on a request from the Merchant’s Guild. I thought I could lend a hand.” Shiu showed the request form and laughed. The man panicked a bit and lowered his head.
“Ah to think you’d come in person, I’m very sorry to trouble you.”
“It’s alright, I’m free today and Zafiro also looked like he was having a hard time.” He said and had the man guide him.
In the back there were a lot of artisans creating molds for magical tools and towards the end he could see an assembly line of tools being enchanted. Just looking at such a large scale operation was interesting.
The place he was taken to was way in the back and looked like a parlour. There were men having a meeting there.
“Terribly sorry to interrupt. Master, I’ve met with Aquilsama. He has come here to deal with the request we filed at the Guild.
The man passed the documents and lowered his head and withdrew his body. The man had wonderful poise and posture which made one want to imitate it.
“Shiu-kun, you’re the one who came!?”
“Yes. I sometimes listen to the troubles of those at the Merchants Guild and help out.”
“Ah, no, you’re really helping us here….. It’s embarrassing.”
As he was being apologized to, Shiu hastily waved his hands.
“It has to do with a sudden large order right? I understand it’s more than you can handle.”
“It’s as you say….. However, it’s inexcusable that it has even worried the inventor.”
“Well you’ve gone through the trouble of laying it out like this, it’s fine isn’t it?”
The man who butted in was one the other man in the meeting.
Shiu panicked a bit and lowered his head.
“Sorry. I guess I suddenly butted in and interrupted the conversation.”
“No, it’s fine. It’s a rather curious conversation. Are you the inventor?”
On the hand of the man who was smiling and laughing was a MP measurement tool.
“Yes. I’m Shiu Aquila.”
“I’m Kilik. Kilik Oscalious.”
“Nice to meet you.”
He greeted the man with a simple bow meant for aristocrats. The man didn’t give away his rank but in his appraisal of the man there was ‘Margrave, Magic Warrior’.
In addition, Shiu could infer from the lack of an attendant and that he was willing to talk in a reception room in a workshop, that the man was a frank and big hearted person.
“Shiu, this person is Margrave Oscalious.” He kindly told Shiu.
It couldn’t be helped so Shiu turned towards the man to offer an aristocratic greeting but was stopped.
“Citroe, he noticed.”
“Oh, is that so?”
“Ahh you seem like a smart child. As expected of the inventor of this.”
He was a big man with a stern face and strongly built body but his smile was gentle.
He seemed like a strong veteran of war and past battle scars could be seen. It seemed he didn’t have time to be healed by magic. In addition he also had sharp eyes.
“Still, you’re younger than I had heard!” Saying this he hit Citroe on the shoulder. Citroe forced a smile while turning toward Shiu.
“Well then, concerning the request, can we count on you?”
“Yes. However I plan to do this alone so I want to use a private room or do it in an area that is out of sight.”
“Why do you want to do that?” Kilik interrupted. He seemed to have a close relationship with Citroe. He didn’t hold anything back.
“Magicians don’t reveal their tricks. That’s my reason.”
“…… I see.”
“Alright. I’ll guide you to a private room.”
“And so you’d do this?”
“Yes.”
It was irritating to be treated politely all the time, so Shiu made a request, “Can you please stop speaking so formally?”
“Wahaha. Yeah, Citroe. Being firm is one of your good points, but sometimes it’s gloomy!”
Kilik was a Margrave, but he acted like a mercenary rather than a knight and he was still laughing heartily now. He wasn’t like a noble.
Meanwhile, Citroe became flustered at Shiu’s request.
“…… If you’re alright with that then, no, I mean yes, okay.” Citroe hung his head.
Shiu wouldn’t forcefully ask him to do so, since he wasn’t used to it. He conveyed this to Citroe and he said he would try his best to fix how he spoke.
A lot of pendant type magic tools were ordered and he made sure no one was in the room before he put up a spatial wall so that they couldn’t peek inside.
He felt a snap and knew that someone was using magic.
It was rare so he used magic that he’d recently figured out.
(《MAGIC TRACK》)
It seemed as if a spell was being cast somewhere and was literally focusing on an area. It had some kind of name like this but Shiu used appraisal magic to find out more.
It was coming from somewhere in the shop so it was prudent not to use his appraisal magic but there were times like this, where it was rash but exciting. He suspected it was some kind of trap for industrial spies at first.
He continued to cast magic.
(《ANALYSE TECHNIQUE》)(《AUTO SCRIBE》)(《RELEASE TECHNIQUE》)
He used each spell; appraisal magic, modified a low level scribe spell, and lastly tearing off the trap.
In this kind of situation one could usually use non elemental and dark magic to remove the trap but this time it seemed to be strongly affixed so Shiu tried to use his recent creation.
At any rate, he thought that appraisal magic was really convenient.
There was no need to level it up but there was value in using it habitually. He had become able to appraise things as difficult as magic formulas.
However, making full use of appraisal magic was troublesome. If he used his appraisal magic to its full extent, even in just this one room, an enormous amount of information would come streaming in. The one that would discern something from all of that information was a human, Shiu’s own self, so it was important to first carefully select a place to appraise. Appraising items was extremely difficult.
This time he decided to focus in on the part thought to be the formula. If he relaxed he would inadvertently appraise unnecessary things so he did this seriously.
The result of this inspection showed that the trap was a trivial eavesdropping spell.

o/ I hope you enjoyed that mass release.
Unfortunately, after thinking about it for weeks, I will be dropping this project and this will be the last chapter I will upload here.
There are a few reasons for this but the main one is that this series is extremely frustrating to translate even with the help of others. Sometimes it takes me while a while just to make sense of what the author is trying to say and put that into English. Having this much frustration on a project has made my motivation plummet down…
I’m sorry and hope you have enjoyed this series so far! There’s a manga for this so … maybe someone will translate it someday!
Sorry for the long text XD
