Side Story - Chapter 15
The Duke of Tonz was busy preparing for a long trip this morning.
The carriage, which had been sent to Viscount Royce’s house earlier, appeared as it neared the time to depart. The carriage entering the Duke of Tonz’s residence was highly visible from Roman’s office. As such, Roman headed down to greet Cecia.
“It’s been a long time, Duke Tonz.
Ben, who found Roman, quickly greeted him. It seemed as if they came together. Cecia followed her father and bowed to Roman.
“Long time no see, Viscount Royce.”
Roman was slightly uncomfortable by her unexpected appearance.
“It’s been long-overdue since I should have visited you. ”
Ben looked at him and proceeded carefully.
“I heard you’re going on an inspection trip with my daughter, so I’m here to say hello..”
“I see.”
Roman felt a little uneasy when he said that he wasn’t going together with them.
Ben was looking at Roman. For him, this inspection was an important affair for his family and for Cecia.
“Cecia, you must take good care of the Duke of Tonz.”
Ben asked her to do a good job. She will play a big part in the journey that was about to begin. He believed she would do as well as she does now.
“Duke, please take care of my daughter.”
At the end of this trip, Viscount Royne will change his current stature and Cecia will become the Duchess. Ben would be slightly cheerful when he feels like he’s already the Duke of Tonz.
“I will.”
On the contrary, Roman’s face was devoid of emotion. He was closely observing everything Ben did.
“Let’s go, then.”
This was how Roman and Cecia began their journey.
*
The same was the case for Viscount Weiand.
There were a lot of luggage prepared for relaxation, if not as much as Roman and Cecia who were going out for inspection and other important appointments.
“You have to take good care of yourself. I will leave it up to you, Viscount Grant.”
Jack felt strange saying that. Was it because these two people are standing side by side? He felt like he was letting his daughter go.
“I’ll return safely.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll escort her well.”
“Take care of yourself, too, Grant. ”
Ver thanked with a bow, and climbed into the Prillance’s carriage. That’s how the trip between the two began.
*
The further they got away from the capital, the more the wagon rattled. New landscapes caught her eye outside of the bustling capital city.
Ver could tell that Prillance was excited from the way she kept her eyes on the capital and on the other landscapes, like the face of a child going out for the first time.
“Do you like traveling?”
She realized that just looking around the market in the capital reminded her of how she much liked it.
“It’s been a long time.”
A young lady, who must have traveled a lot, seemed strange.
Prillance, who was caught in the act, hid her expression. In fact, she was trying to hide it, but still couldn’t hide her eyes from glancing at the window.
Ver thought it was so adorable.
“We’d better go somewhere prettier next time. ”
Ver thought of some good places to travel. But Prillance was thinking ill of him.
‘Would there be any next?’
The end of this trip in the novel was the destruction of the Weiand family. No one knew what could happen even if it doesn’t go according to the novel.
Even she, who knew all the contents of the novel, did not know the whereabouts of the story.
But if there’s another chance to travel with him…
Even then, Ver will be with me. The thought of it made me smile brighter.
“Next time… I’m going with you?”
When I looked up again, there was a small grin on my face, but my gaze soon went down. It looked somewhat sad.
“Young Lady.”
His eyes spoke slowly, capturing all her actions.
She touches her dress and looks nervous somewhere, with small frowns on her eyebrows and black eyelashes.
“I don’t hate it.”
His eyes met with Prillance’s, who raised her head as soon as Ver said it.
He could see what she was trying to say with her small frown. He’ll say it’s not like that and she’ll still be worried about him.
Is it strange that he feels magnificent when she tries to convey her feelings? I wish she’d worry about him a little more.
That’s why Ver intentionally acted a little grumpy.
“You know I’m not.”
The slightly protruding lips of Prillance showed that she was upset.
“The Young Lady also knows that my answer is fixed.”
Unable to resist the cuteness, Ver ended up laughing. But Prillance couldn’t laugh at each other as usual.
Rather, she was anxious about the truth that would come because she knew his town. Fearing that the town would be the cause of the disappointment and anger against her, her hands still wandering around the dress, took over the mood. Prillance responded awkwardly to his smile.
After a while, they entered onto a dirt road, Prillance felt bloated with the rattling ride. But she kept her eyes shut so she wouldn’t show it.
