Silent Hacker - Chapter 53:Hello
I carefully remove Chip’s core and gently place it into the black cat’s collar. Once placed in the protective holding I press it down and watch with delight as it begins to glow a bright blue color. I step back and wait.
Everything I made Chip with is top grade and highly illegal making him the purrfect cat. To anyone else, he will look just like a “normal” cat. The only thing he can’t do is eat and well… poop. But I think that’s a win, win for everyone involved.
I reach out and stroke his sleek black fur and smile with delight. Everything about him was perfect. I look down to see his eyes open and I step back with a large smile. His eyes open then blink once, twice before they slightly glow a light blue color.
“Chip?” I ask smiling and he suddenly looks at me. “Did it work?” Chip asks and I find myself laughing. “Try to walk!” I say backing up and watching him. He begins to move his head then his paws. Slowly he takes a step forward but it looks stiff.
“Hmmm… Chip, look up videos on cats and how they move.” Chip looks up then blinks a few times before nodding his little head. After a few minutes, he tries again only this time it looks right. “You’re doing it!” I say with excitement and watch with delight as he jumps down and begins to strut.
His long black tail sticks straight up in the air as he walks over and rubs against my legs. I giggle and reach down, stroking him behind his ears. “You look so cute Chip!” Chip looks up with bright eyes and begins to purr causing me to laugh out loud.
“Other than the glowing eyes, you’d totally pass for a normal cat. Can you dim the light in your eyes?” I ask squatting down next to him. “Hmmm… Yup! Is this better?” He asks looking back up to me. I smile again as I say “Much better. Remember though… if you’re ever in front of others you should meow. Normal cats can’t talk.”
He nods his head in eagerness as he begins looking around the house. I laugh and say “You’re free now so why don’t you check everything out? Oh, and if something doesn’t work right or breaks you need to let me know immediately okay? That way I can fix it for you.” Chip gives me a very cat-like smile before walking away.
I love seeing him grow… maybe I should start researching on how to build human-like robots for him in the future… I look back to the hall but I could no longer see him so I walk over to the computers and pull up the searches Chip had been working on while I was working.
Chip had done a good job at finding places so all I had to do was go over the information and pick the one I liked the best. I lean back, stretching my neck from side to side. I decide to take a break and find something to eat.
I push back and run straight into someone. I quickly jump up and turn around to find Alec looking at my messy hair with a smile. “What have I told you!” I say with irritation but he only seems to find it funny. “You look like you found some good news?” I ask pushing past him.
His smile falters a bit as he says “Not exactly… We’re currently trying to reach someone who will have the answers to these questions but for the time being, I plan on keeping you company.” I stop midstep and turn to look at him like he’s lost his mind.
“Okay, I may be able to look past a lot of things you do and say but you aren’t staying here… even if it was the end of the world… it’s not happening.” I say putting my foot down. He gives me a knowing smile before saying “I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try.” he shrugs his shoulders while grinning at me.
His smile fades completely before sighing and saying “Look, I don’t know who this guy is or if he really is like me but he’s too close. I don’t feel safe leaving you here alone.” Alec says being serious. “As I said before she’s not alone,” Chip says jumping up on the counter behind him.
Alec quickly turns around with large eyes. “The cat can talk?” He says moving closer. “It’s rude to sniff others…” Chip says lifting a paw. Alec freezes then looks back to me in wonder. “You made Chip a body?” I give him a grin of my own before saying “Yup and it was about time. How is it?”
He looks back to Chip and gets closer, checking every inch of him. “He looks like a real cat but he doesn’t smell like one,” Alec says reaching out to pet Chip. Chip looks like he may run away but decides to let Alec pet him. I laugh at the sight and say “Chip, let’s order pizza.”
