Since When Was I A God? - chapter 51 A Group of Kids Having a Bit of Fun
“Alright, then we’ll head out first.” Duke waved goodbye to Waze as he followed the rest of his group through the door.
“Good luck guys! Kick some ass.” Waze shot him a grin and returned his wave. Michelle, Byrd, Marco, Duke, and Sable all set off down the hallway. Their destination: the kidnapped girls.
“It’s like some sort of spy movie, you know?” Duke attempted to make small talk as they walked.
“It is. It totally is!” Michelle giggled.
“I mean, we are trying to pull off some spy movie level stuff here. Really, it’s all riding on Waze and Cassidy taking down the big guy.” Marco sighed and Duke looked down the hallway, his expression turning serious. It really did depend all on that.
“I’m sure they can do it. Waze is stronger than us.” Sable’s face was cold, but her words were reassuring.
“Yeah, but isn’t it almost annoying? That chicks got so much power stocked up inside her yet she’s still an absolute dumbass.” Marco laughed.
“Hey, to be fair, most of us are dumbasses.” Duke laughed too.
“I think Waze is really smart!” Byrd looked up at them with a determined expression.
“It’s not really a matter of if she’s smart or not…” Michelle brought her hand to her chin as she tried to think of how to explain it. “She thinks with her heart and not with her head. She does wild and crazy stuff because it’s what she thinks is right. I guess, all this is just another one of those wild and crazy things. But that makes us all dumbasses too for going with her.” Michelle giggled, and the others gave similar laughs.
Sable held up her hand all of a sudden and the group went silent. They slid against the wall as two guards sauntered by. If the guards had stopped and looked to the side at all, they would’ve seen the kids. But they completely ignored them. The group let out a collective sigh of relief.
“Let’s keep going. It’s this way.” Sable walked on forward. She was leading the group right now, along with Michelle and Byrd. Duke and Marco had absolutely no clue where they were going.
The plan was to break out the girls from the room they were being held in and have Michelle and Byrd take them back out to where Alec, Collin, and James were waiting. Then, they would have to find out if there were any more girls in the building, and take them outside. After all the girls were safe with Collin, James, and Alec, the big five would go and wreak havoc all over the building so that Waze and Cassidy could get up to Egar. That was the plan, at least.
“Alright, right around this corner is the hallway where the room with the girls is.” Michelle stopped the group and whispered quickly under her breath. “We gotta be careful, they’re probably on edge and we don’t want any girls getting hurt.”
“Got it,” Duke and Marco said simultaneously. Michelle grinned.
“Let’s do this,” she said.
They basically just walked out. The men turned to look at the girls, but before they could do anything, bright spikes of light jutted out from the ground. The men shrieked in agony before collapsing on the ground. That was Sable for you, no mercy. Her glowing skewers caused extreme pain when they went through someone, but did no actual damage.
Before the men could scramble to their feet, Michelle had already reached them. In a matter of seconds, the men were covered in scratches and bleeding from all over. The group collectively gave them a few extra hits to make sure the men were incapacitated and then stepped back and looked down. It hadn’t been much of a fight, the men weren’t really prepared. Michelle grabbed a key from one mans belt and opened the door only to be greeted with a quite shitty sight.
There were two men inside and they each had blades to a girls throat. The group hadn’t anticipated there being more guards inside the room.
“Make a single move, and we’ll kill the girls.”
“Now, now, now! We wouldn’t want to go damaging the merchandise, would we?” Marco was smiling with a calm exterior but he was quite panicked on the inside. There wasn’t much they could do.
“I want all of you to kneel down, and put your hands behind your hea-” Before the man could finish talking, his body was viciously yanked to the side, and the knife pulled out of his hand. Everyone in the room sat slightly stunned at the sight before them. The man was covered in weeds that had grown from the cracks in the wall. The casino was slightly overrun, and since this was on the bottom floor there were weeds and vines everywhere. Those weeds and vines were now turning on the men.
The other man stumbled backwards, but a vine curled around his hand and yanked out the knife, slamming him to the ground. The men were now pinned to the ground and overrun with plants. Sable spoke first, she seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on.
“Thanks, Byrd.”
“Byrd?!” Everyone snapped to look at the little girl who was sweating and leaning on the wall.
“I’ve never really used my power that much before… I’m glad it worked.” Byrd smiled. It clicked for the other members of the team. Byrd couldn’t just make plants grow, rather, she could control them. But since when?
“When did you learn to do that?!” Duke was shocked, and Michelle and Marco were equally surprised.
“Norris has been teaching me on the side a bit outside of training…” Byrd looked down with a shy smile.
“Well, thank god for that.” Marco sighed, then walked over to the men currently struggling against the vines on the ground. “Hey, meat heads. Are there any other girls in the building?”
“Like we would tell you, you damn shrimp. Fuck off! Let us go!” Marco scowled at the writhing guard.
“Duke, if you would.” Duke grinned at Marco’s invitation and walked over. He pushed his hand to the man’s face, and quickly heated it up. His hand glowed red and it was only a few seconds before the man screamed in pain.
“Fine, fine! The opposite end of the casino, on this floor. There’s another room. It’s conference room number four, I think. You should be able to find it on a floor map by the elevators.” Duke grinned.
“No need. I know exactly where that is.” The man scoffed at Duke’s remark.
“Who the hell are you, anyway?” He shouted from under the vines. Marco giggled.
“Us?” The man looked up at the group of teens standing triumphantly above him. “We’re nothing more than a group of kids having a bit of fun.”
