Sinful Temptations - Volume 1 Chapter 27

“Come on.. can we catch a break”, complained Nahum.

The demon dogs inched towards them slowly. They stood ready for the animals to attack as they surrounded them. Suddenly, the animals became silent and retreated to the side of the golden doors. The sound of loud clicking and gears turning could be heard, then the doors began to open.

The doors opened to display a large library filled with shelves full of antique scrolls. As they stepped into the room the door slammed shut behind them. They paused to survey the room. The room was dark and the shelves appeared to shape the room in a circular pattern. In the distance, a dim ember of light coming from the center of the room, could be seen.

Garvit pulled her up into a ponytail and secured it with a green ribbon she had wrapped around her wrist. “Well, I don’t necessarily want to greet the dogs on the other side of that door a second time.” She started walking towards the center of the room. “Let’s take our chances with whatever is front us, shall we”. Nahum just shrugged his shoulders and followed behind her. “Milady” Garvish spoke to Lily, encouraging her to follow behind them as he took up the rear.

Smalls unidentifiable creatures slithered across the selves, pausing to watch them with their big eyes as they passed. As they neared the center of the room, a sitting area came into view. Two large chairs occupied the space. Covering the floor was a replica of the map given to Lily. In one of the large chairs sat an old man with white hair. His eyes were a reddish yellow that could be barely seen under his bushy eyebrows.

Lily lost her breathe as Nahum stepped out of her path and she had a clear view of the sitting area. It was not the decor of the area, that shocked her. But the person sitting in chair beside the old man. With a goblet in his hand, Naraka sat with the confidence of a king.
