Single Stat System - Chapter 41
With the last Ghost Fire meeting its end, the entire area was then shrouded by darkness. Aside from the twinkling specks of yellow-orange light that could be seen at the far distance of the other end of each route in the area, everything around Sakim was black. If it was before, Sakim would have been panicking right now. But since there was something he could do against this darkness, he remained completely indifferent.
So with a cold voice, Sakim muttered, “Steal.”
Almost instantaneously, the supposed darkness that was filling the entire area, vanished without a trace. As if it was broad daylight inside the cave.
“Much better,” Sakim smiled. But then, he could see that the range of darkness he had stolen was still limited. From the looks of it, he had only stolen the darkness inside the 50 meters radius. And outside this perimeter was yet another darkness. It was as if there was some kind of invisible barrier that was separating the light and darkness.
And upon seeing this, Sakim was amazed. The wonders in this world were really astonishing. But then, he couldn’t care much about it as he instead shifted his attention around him.
Pile of ashes splattered around. And Sakim knew that together with these ashes were some items that dropped from the monsters he had just killed. Although even after killing about 50 Ghost Fires a while ago didn’t let him level up, he was already satisfied enough especially upon knowing that some items had dropped. After all, it was already within his expectation that the drop rate of an item in this game world was too low.
In any case, Sakim also had acquired many [Ghost Fire HP] giving him another survival asset. Although each of them could only give him 160 HP (similar to the HP of the Ghost Fire), with this amount, he was certain that he could refill his HP fully once it dropped below five percent. His gain this time was really satisfying.
So after a few moments of thought, Sakim started to make a move. He dug through the remains of the Ghost Fires to look for the drops. With that, he cursed the System for not having an auto collect function. It really was time and effort-consuming doing this sort of thing.
But there was nothing he could do against it. As helpless as he was, he could only look for the drops manually as he dug through the remains of the Ghost Fires.
In the end, he only found one kind of item. And it was yet again another medal material. But this time, the name of the item was written in white. It was the normal and most common medal material, an item that could be found when slaying normal monsters.
[Fire Shards ×4]
• Medal material.
Seeing this, Sakim had no expression. Even so, he was still wondering what kind of item was this medal for this medal materials to appear from time to time. But then, if he really wanted to know about it, he should hurry up and go to the beginner’s village already.
With that in mind, Sakim dismissed the System. He shifted his gaze in a certain direction before making a step forward. Just why in the world was his journey to the beginner’s village took so long? What he knew was that a new player was supposed to start his journey in the beginner’s village. But for him? Sakim could only click his tongue twice thinking about how his journey started in the depths of the forest.
But there was nothing he could do about it. Sakim continued to walk forward as he finally reached his distance at the end of where the light could reach. The darkness in front of him was just as if a barrier that even the light couldn’t pierce. And Sakim was yet again astonished upon seeing it this close.
But since he was in a rush towards the beginner’s village, Sakim walked towards the seeming barrier of darkness. He wanted to know how did it feel when entering such a place.
And just like that, Sakim’s body disappeared inside the dark when he stepped inside. But after a moment, Sakim’s body was then again fully revealed with a widened eyes as it appeared that he exited the darkness.
The feeling was just really astonishing. Just after he entered the darkness, the world before him had immediately turned dark as there was nothing else he could see except the sparkling small yellowish-orange lights at the far distance. Even after turning around, the place where he had stolen the darkness a little while ago and was now having broad daylight was couldn’t be seen anymore. It appeared that the light in the place where he had stolen the darkness couldn’t pierce the darkness around him. Only when he walked out of the darkness did he see the light again. What a spectacular sight. Sakim really wondered how the light couldn’t pierce the darkness while on the other hand, the Ghost Fires from the faraway distance had their light could still be seen by him.
In any case, it wasn’t that important now. Sakim raised his hand forward as his hand entered the darkness. After which, Sakim muttered calmly, “Steal.”
The darkness ahead then vanished as it appeared that another 50 meters radius was stolen. Since the darkness behind him was already stolen, and since the place he was in was a cave of which had its both sides only a short distance, Sakim had only stolen the 50 meters of darkness ahead of him.
After which was done, he walked then again and repeated the same process multiple times.
Until finally, Sakim met another batch of Ghost Fire again. As such, he wasn’t able to steal the darkness in the area since it was illuminated by the little light coming from the Ghost Fires. If he wanted to steal the darkness, he should eliminate these Ghost Fires first to fill the entire area with darkness.
With that in mind, Sakim continued his massacre against the Ghost Fires. And it didn’t take long for Sakim to finish them all. The darkness then triumphed in the surroundings as he stole it again. After which, he collected some items that dropped from the Ghost Fires as he then again continued his journey.
The same process repeated for some time as Sakim finally saw the other end of the cave. Instead of the sparkling light coming from the Ghost Fires in the faraway distance, what he saw this time was a golden light. Sakim was more than certain that this was the light coming from the sun.
“Finally, I found the exit of this damned cave.” Sakim heaved a sigh of relief as he walked faster towards the mouth of the cave. After a couple of hours of his journey inside the cave, he missed the sun as if they hadn’t met for a long time.
So then, it didn’t take long for Sakim to reach the mouth of the cave. The first that greeted him was fresh wind as he couldn’t help but close his eyes with a smile. This feeling was really refreshing. If possible, he wouldn’t want to go back from that damned cave anymore.
So after a good while, Sakim opened his eyes again. What obstructed his view was grassland and countless towering trees. There were many yellowish snails of which size was about the height of his waist and were three meters long. Their shells were dirty white in color as they were crawling all over the place.
At first glance, Sakim already knew it. These snails were the monsters in this leveling area. He didn’t know what was their level but he was more than sure that they were lower in level compared to the Ghost Fire.
