Single Stat System - Chapter 43
“Alright…” As helpless as he was, Hapon could only follow the order of their party leader. He then walked closer to that certain tree to see what was behind. But then, although he was hoping that it was just a rat, he had this feeling that someone was hiding behind that tree.
Hapon swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he walked. There was even a sweat appearing on his forehead the closer he got to the tree. So after a few more moments, he finally reached his distance near the tree as he turned his head to see what was behind.
At that moment, however, Hapon was taken aback upon seeing it. He even failed to find a word to say as he instead swallowed a mouthful of saliva. His sweats then became even more noticeable before dripping down to the ground. How could he not if what he saw was something too scary for him.
“What are you looking at?” Sakim asked coldly. He had this domineering aura of a tyrant as his piercing glare could as if melt every courage of the ones it spotted on.
As such, Hapon unconsciously made a step back. Not being satisfied, he hurriedly made a couple of multiple step-backs until he finally fell with his ass on the ground. “M-m-monsteeerr!!!” Hapon cried out loud as the hint of fear was noticeably blended in his voice. This monster had really scared the shit out of him.
“What did you say?!” The other three were alarmed and startled when they heard and saw the panicking Hapon. They too, had their shit scared out of them. It appeared that the one watching them wasn’t any of the bandits, but instead, a monster that could scare someone like Hapon. It could be said that it was something more troublesome than the bandits. Just how unlucky were they to bump with such a thing?
That said, they hurriedly ran in front of Hapon who fell on the ground as they pointed their weapons against the monster that he was talking about. They should at least protect him and give him some time to recover from the shock. They shouldn’t just leave him in front of dangers, right? After all, only weaklings would try to leave their party members behind when facing troubles that they couldn’t best.
And also, they couldn’t just humiliate themselves and run away without putting a fight, right? After all, they still had this pride within their heart. If they run away now and left this fool, then how would they explain it to their guild if they lost a member? It had to be known that lies wouldn’t work to their guild master.
But when they saw the so-called monster, the party leader, Umaga’s face, had immediately darkened. He immediately smacked Hapon on his head giving him a huge lump. “What monster are you talking about? He is clearly a weakling!” This guy was really pissing him off. How could he frighten him over nothing?! It was really unforgivable!
“I’m sorry! I was wrong! I was wrong!” Hapon cried out. Only now did he see clearly that the person he thought was a monster was actually a Player who was much lower in level compared to any of them. No matter how he looked at the other party, from head to toe, he was clearly a weakling. How could he mistake him as a monster?
So to make up for his mistake, Hapon hurriedly stood up as a dagger appeared on his right hand. He walked in front of his teammates as he pointed his dagger against the monster, no, against the newbie, “Who the hell are you?!”
He was not polite at all as he talked with the other party. His eyes were even flashing with a cold glint as he glared at him with contempt. How could this weakling try to trick him? It really was unforgivable!
But instead of an immediate reply, the other party, Sakim who was found out, had turned his body around to face them. No hint of fear could be seen in his eyes but instead, it was as if he was looking at the four of them as if they were just ants. So with a cold voice, Sakim finally responded, “Do you even have any qualifications to know who I am?”
But deep inside, Sakim really wanted to run away now. Only upon seeing the other party this close did he see that their levels might probably far above his own. He could even feel that some kind of domineering aura was naturally leaking out from the four of them. Just how long were they already living in this world anyway?
But then, what were they doing in this low-level place? To search for that star? Just what kind of thing was that star for these Players to bother themselves searching for it and come here? No matter how Sakim looked onto it, he felt like he needed to put more of his attention regarding this matter.
“You…” On the other hand, Hapon couldn’t find a word to retort as he ended up gritting his teeth furiously. He could clearly see that this man was a low-level Player, probably an E-rank, but why in the hell could he feel that there was more to it than the eye could see? Where did his confidence come from? Was he a hidden expert? A High Ranker? Was he just hiding his real strength? But if that was the case, then, why the hell could they find him hiding behind the tree and was as if peeking at them like a rat. Even if he was really watching them, and he really was a High Ranker, shouldn’t they at least failed to notice his presence, right?
And besides all of that, the thin man also hadn’t seen the other party before. If he was a hidden expert, then he should at least have seen or heard of him before, right?
Even the other three behind Hapon had a serious look on their face. Similar to him, they also had these feelings that the person before them was really a low-level Player who was probably in the area to level.
But why was he acting like someone with unparalleled strength and powerful background? Could it be that their eyes were playing tricks on them?
Or could it be that he was too ignorant to recognize their strength? Surely, that must be the case. If he learned that they were all A-ranks, then he should probably be pissing off his pants now.
But before any of them could even speak any more words as a response, the other party had already turned his back against them. Half of his face was facing them as the only thing they could see was the cold glint of his piercing left eye. “I’m just passing by here. I’ll take my leave.”
After Sakim said those words, he calmly made a step forward. But as calm as he seemed, deep inside, he wanted to stay away from that place as soon as possible and as far away as could be. He had this feeling that if he stayed there any longer, he would probably end up fighting them. If that happened, then who knew what kind of danger would he face this time. He might even die fighting them.
Sakim was just thankful that he was good at acting. But then, he was used to be a domineering boss in his past life so acting like that was as easy as drinking water for him.
For a moment, the four didn’t speak nor move as they only watched the back of the leaving Sakim. After another moment, they traded a glance with each other as they all nodded. It was obvious that their thought was in unison this time.
So just after what was done, the four vanished from where they were standing. After which, they appeared and surrounded Sakim in the four directions. The party leader, Umaga, appeared in front of Sakim blocking his way while keeping a good distance. Tanghali was on the right side keeping a good distance as well. The same went for Gabi who was on the left side while on the other hand, Hapon was just behind Sakim with his hand raised forward and was now pointing his dagger on Sakim’s neck.
“Wishing to die?” Hapon asked coldly. Although they felt that this man wasn’t ordinary, they also felt that he was just an ordinary individual. Just what kind of mixed feeling was this?
On one hand, they could clearly see that the other party was just a new Player that had just awakened his power and received the System not long ago. Just from the way he seemed, this person had probably become a Player just a few days ago if not weeks.
But on the other hand, this person appeared so calm in front of them. Even after surrounding him by the four of them, his calmness didn’t even shake a bit. As if he was living his life on top of the world for already a long time and they were just insignificant being in front of him. Not only that, he had this domineering look that even them could feel a little scared. Just who the hell was this person for real?
But no matter what was the case, even if the other party was really a strong Player, he shouldn’t be far stronger than the four of them, right? Since that was the case, they still needed to eliminate him. After all, one other person who was searching for the fallen star was one other rival. And it would be a pain in the ass if the other party would be the first to find it.
With this, Sakim on the other hand began to sweat. He thought that he had already fooled them but who would have thought that they would continue to pester him? But then, as he expected, these people weren’t normal. They moved so fast that even he could only see a moment of their after image with a swoosh when they blocked his way. Just how high was their level for real compared to him?
“Who are you?” Before Sakim could even say any words, Sakim heard the one in front of him, the party leader, asking such a question. The other party had a cold voice and he had this hostile aura exuding out from him. As if he was ready to harm him at any moment.
But Sakim remained rather calm. Facing such a threat, he instead used his mind rather than go with his emotions. Since they were going to fight anyways, he should at least show them that he was not like someone to be bothered with so easily.
