Skyward Over God - Chapter 12
Fei Lei ran out of the room and into his unprepared lab room, there were several large stone tables, a few copper beakers, alchemy tools he purchased from the village, and a few large cages to keep beast that he captured in.
He started to pour the materials in several fluids and started writing down all of his findings, thanks to his enhanced vision he could get a much better look at the materials, and make far better-estimated guesses as to what was happening to them.
“I need a microscope.” Fei Lei said as he started to grow frustrated.
He looked at the crystals at the bottom of a tray full of water and say that is was slowly dissolving into the liquid, “What are you doing?”
“Getting pissed off because I don’t have the proper tools, and have so little samples to experiment with.” Fei Lei said as he thought of something, he ran into his storeroom and pulled out around 80 Fire Type Cores, all ranging from 1st to 3rd Star ratings.
As he came back he handed them all over in a large leather bag and asked, “Can you absorb these?”
Yan Mei was shocked as she said, “Yes! All of them are in perfect condition too! However, I think I’ll only need around 50 to reach the solid level, and until I gain another Sigil I won’t absorb them anymore.” She took the cores and started to absorb them on, she also chanted a Mantra that Fei Lei paid close attention to, however it was in an ancient language he didn’t recognize.
The Fire Cores started to glow and react to her words as they all bunched up together and charged towards her heart, it took a while but all of the energy had traveled into her heart and the Sigil above her forehead started to turn into an orange crystalline structure and became a level 3 Sigil before it retreated into her body.
“I did it, HAHAHA! Just turned 17 this year and I’m almost a Sorcerer! Dad didn’t become one until he was 18.” Yan Mei shouted as she jumped around, while Fei Lei took up the Dust and stored it in a box.
He took a drop of his blood and placed it over a sample of the Core Dust, and even with his vision, he couldn’t see anything discerning or useful.
He sighed and started to walk away, he figured that since he couldn’t do anything right now, he would just continue his training per usual, leaving the room and headed back out into his courtyard and said, “I’m going hunting, I’ll be back in a few hours.”

“Um.., Can I go with you?” Yan Mei asked because she wanted to see how he hunted.
“No it’s too dangerous, the only reason I could survive so well is that I was alone, and could escape alone. If I brought you with me, I would have to look out for you, and what would happen if a 4 Star or higher beast appeared?”
Yan Mei’s cheeks puffed up as she said, “I’m not as weak as you think I am. I can be of use!”
Fei Lei smiled and said, “Okay, prove it to me.”
He took her outside and to a large open area and raised his hand before saying, “Show me how you fight.”
With a single wave of her hand, Yan Mei created a bow out of green colored fire, multiple arrows appeared beside her as she pointed her finger out as if she was shaping them with her hand, smiling at Fei Lei, Yan Mei said, “Look out, getting hit with these will probably kill you.”
Yan Mei shot an arrow and Fei Lei dodged with a smile on his face as it zoomed past his face, however, his facial expression changed drastically as the green arrow exploded in a small 5-foot sphere of heat.
Fei Lei didn’t have time to shout, because Yan Mei showed no mercy, five arrows came flying after him, and she already drew back the string on the next, just waiting for Fei Lei to dodge.
Fei Lei smiled as he filled his lungs with air and created a massive roar by using his Lion Roar Spell. Before when Fei Lei extinguished her flames he used the sheer power of physical body without the aid of Mana.
This is the first time he’s used this spell since his rebirth, a massive sonic wave formed smothered out her fires and caused her cloak to flap backward from more than ten feet away.
“Level 1 Spell, Piercing Scorch Arrow!” The flames gathered around her and turned into a thin emerald green beam of pure heat, as she released her fingers from the fiery bow string the arrow turned into a powerful ray of destruction, shooting towards Fei Lei at a frightening speed.
Fei Lei summoned his Telekinetic hands and watched as they were blown apart as the beam shot around ten feet into the earth, melting it like glass.

“Why didn’t you use any of that power when we met?” Fei Lei asked seeing her power down.
“You locked my body up and kept me from moving, there are three types of Mages, those that can cast with a thought, those that use bodily motions, and those that focus the Mana through a medium such as using their voice and creating a spell verse, or channeling their mana through an object such as a wand. I’m the motion type.” Yan Mei Responded.
“Alright you can come, but you shouldn’t interfere, your magic is powerful but it makes too much noise,” Fei Lei said crossing his arms.
Yan Mei jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him, “Thank you, Fei Lei! I won’t let you down!”
Fei Lei blushed a bit and picked her up like a princess as he started to run through the air, it took them a while of searching and a couple of close encounters with some higher ranking beasts before they spotted something worth their time.
Fei Lei climbed down as saw a large herd of around 20 Red Razor Horned Deer, all of them around 2 and 3 Stars. They had long and powerful limbs and stood around 7 feet tall and 5 feet long, long ruby gem like horns radiated fire type energy that gleamed in the sun, their red long thick fur looked like a fire being set on the horizon when they grouped together.
Coming to a stop, Fei Lei moved behind the cover of a tree and placed Yan Mei down as he said, “I can draw their attention, while they focus on me, take out the ones that I’m not targeting.”
“Wait, how can you do that?” Yan Mei asked.
“With my level 0 Spell, Invoke Intent.” Fei Lei jumped down and walked into the open field they were grazing in. As soon as he activated his Sigil his body began leaking a powerful murderous intent, all the magical beast suddenly reacted.
Influence by his spell they all were spurred on by their animal instincts, the herd began to buck wildly, realizing that if they didn’t fight back they would die.
Around a few dozen deer dashed over towards Fei Lei, there were small fires bursting around their horns as they shot 2-foot fireballs at him.

Fei Lei dodged them and the ground exploded behind him as he created his Telekinetic Hands. As he ran past them, Fei Lei grabbed two of the charging magical beasts and slammed their heads into each other.
The sharp horns pierced into their brains as the deer’s as their heads crashed into each other, they let out a mournful cry as they fell to the ground.
Fei Lei jumped up and kicked a deer’s chin up snapping its neck, another deer was seconds away from ramming his back, Fei Lei put out his telekinetic hands to catch the beast, when suddenly, multiple Flaming Arrows shot out of the forest line, and blew the head off the neck of the deer shaped beast.
Fei Lei smiled, he felt that with Yan Mei watching his back this was proving to be easier than usual, focusing on the targets in front of him Fei Lei continued to wreck havoc, pulling out his sword he began cleave off the heads of the monsters with ease.
Fei Lei cut the legs off one of the Deer as he slid under its feet, he then jumped up and stabbed his sword through the chin of another, piercing into its brain. A bolt of fire shot at him as he released his Bo-Staff from the hilt of the sword and surround it in telekinetic energy, as he spun it knocking over 4 of the Deer that had surrounded him and destroying their fireballs, Yan Mei picked off 3 of her own with long-range shots.
Fei Lei retrieved his sword and started to use his Telekinetic hands to control them as he used his bare hands to take out even more.
Yan Mei stared in shock as he volleyed a few more shots, “It’s like he’s three Mages in one!” Her arrows charged after their targets like they had homing beacons on them, each shot was expertly aimed as well, one hit the heart, the other through the eye, and the last taking off another head as it ripped through their neck.
Fei Lei then saw the last few running, Yan Mei raised her bow and shot them down with ease, she then came running as Fei Lei started to gather and pile them up.
“That was awesome!” Yan Mei shouted, “I’ve never had an easier time sniping down targets, usually they start chasing after the long-range users first. That spell of yours is really something, I’ve never heard of one with such effects.”
Fei Lei grinned and said, “You’re welcome to look through my collection of Level-0-Spells.”
Yan Mei went wide-eyed, “Really?”
“Sure, but you have to share all your level 0’s in return,” Fei Lei said grinning.

Yan Mei crossed her arms and pouted while saying, “But those belong to my family! You’d have to marry me for my family to allow that.”
Fei Lei stared at her blankly, the wind blew past them as she thought about what she said, and kept her smile as she tried to play it off, “I mean…What did I mean? I um…I’m not saying that you’d have to marry me, not that I’m not open to it. Wait I take that back, what I meant to say was I would be open to seeing you as a potential partner, wait that’s not right either, you are certainly my type…”
Fei Lei continued to stare at her and watched as the blush on her face continued to lighten up, he thought that Yan Mei had turned into a tomato for a second when Fei Lei started to laugh.
Yan Mei frowned and stomped her foot on the ground as she said, “And what is so funny?”
“You’re cute!” Fei Lei said with an innocent look on his face.
Yan Mei felt like lightning had struck her as she turned around and put on her hood, “Y.y.y.y.y. You can’t… How can you say something like that with such a smooth look, my daddy warned me about boys like you, he said you’re called players.”
Fei Lei smiled, “What’s a player? A person playing a game, that’s the definition for it, right?” Fei Lei was being completely serious, he really didn’t know about the act of courting women like a player, only what he Teacher taught him, to be honest and upright around women, but not to let it cloud his judgment of them. His master also gave him the ‘birds and the bees’ talk, and boy did Fei Lei ever wish he could make him stop.
What his master described wasn’t dating advice, it was downright harassment, Fei Lei just decided to not do any of the perverse and dumb things he talked about, and focused on the good advice he snuck in every once and awhile.
“I just said that you were cute, how is that playing? It’s just my honest opinion.” Fei Lei asked looking completely clueless.
“You did it again!” Yan Mei said as he moved over towards the Deer with a knife she pulled out of her ring. “Let’s just change the subject and start harvesting our reward.”
Fei Lei walked up beside her, smiled, then said, “Please, let me.”
