Solo Player Arvin - Chapter 131
The little Loki was very terrified by the fact that his father would go to war against those War Mongers. He had heard about what those people had done. They had already taken control over the 4 worlds out of 8 worlds of the Yggdrasil. To take control they had slain all the rulers of that realm and take control over by force.
Loki was a small boy, but he was very smart. He understood that the army of the giants does not have enough manpower to fight against the warmongers. And it was a natural thing as these warmongers were born to fight. While the frost giants such as him never have fought any in conflicts. Even in their realm, there are no internal conflicts. So it could be said that this war would be the end for the frost giants if they proceed with it…
Loki and ran and ran and finally, he came to this mother’s quarters. He knocked on the doors of her quarters. Soon the door was opened by a maid of his mother.
The maid refused Loki’s entry. She told him that his mother was not feeling good and she wanted to be left alone. But Loki didn’t listen to her. He pushed her aside and went inside anyway. He ran towards his mother’s bedroom and as he opened the room to her bedroom he was greeted with a scene which he still remembers to this day….
Loki saw that her mother’s bedroom was in shambles. Everything was destroyed. Her bed, her wardrobe, and all the furniture of her room were torn apart. And there his mother was…
Loki’s mother Laufey was sitting in the middle of the room. She was sitting was in such a way that she was hiding her face behind her knees. He could hear her silently sobbing. Loki loved her very much. He had always seen her mother in an exterior of a queen. She had always been a confident lady. She always wore perfect dresses with perfect hair and a perfect attitude. But as he saw this state he was shocked.
As he sat there, her hair was a mess. Her dress was torn from places. Loki couldn’t bear to see her in this state. He ran towards her and hugged her sobbing figure…
“Mother! Are you ok? What happened?” Loki asked.
Feeling her son’s embrace, Laufey looked up to see that her small Loki was looking at her with a tinge of sadness on his face. She then hugged her tightly and started crying loudly. Loki didn’t understand what had happened. But seeing that her mother didn’t say or did anything Loki just quietly sat there and let her mother cry her heart out. But slowly his heart also started warming up and he also started crying his heart out.
While Laufey and Loki were crying her heart out, Farbauti also came into the room. In the throne room, he was informed about the situation with the queen. So he left everything and came to see her. And as he entered the room he saw his son and his wife hugging and crying their heart out…
The Frost Giants were blessed with magic. Their race excelled in the use and control of magic. In their race, all the giants had their unique traits and unique affinities. But amongst those giants, some giants hold the title of sacred giants. It was because these giants had the ability to talk with the sacred tree Yggdrasil itself.
The sacred tree Yggdrasil gave special abilities to those who could talk with it. The Mimir the smartest guy in all the realms got his smartness as he was able to talk with Yggdrasil. The Frost Giants were different. When those special frost giants talk with Yggdrasil instead of granting them knowledge like Mimir, Yggdrasil grants them the ability to see the future.
Laufey was one of those special giants. She could peer into the future. When Farbauti heard about this incident he instantly that she must have seen something that must have shaken her from inside. As the frost giants were on the brink of the war with Aesir Gods, Farbauti figured that this would be something related to the upcoming battle. So he left everything to come here immediately.
When he looked at his son and her wife crying their heart, he instantly understood what could have transpired…
Farbauti came forward. First, he hugged his family tightly. They all sat there hugging each other for few minutes. It was after few minutes, Farbauti stood up. With him, Laufey also stood followed by Loki. Farbauti gave some signal to Laufey, which she understood. She looked at Loki and passed him a smile.
That day, Farbauti and Laufey assured Loki that everything was alright. And everything would be alright. So he doesn’t have to worry about anything else. They forced him to go back to his room. Loki was too matured for his good. He understood that everything that his parents would say from now onwards would be total bullshit.
They wanted to protect him. That is why they said all types of lies to him about how everything would be alright. Loki understood everything. But he didn’t voice his opinions out loud. After all, he didn’t want to burden his parents. So he accepted their bullshit explanation and quietly left…
…
The upcoming few months were very difficult for the frost giants. The whole realm felt the effects of the war. In the icy region of the Jotunheim, it was very hard to grow anything. So during the war, the whole of Jotunheim faced an acute shortage of food and other vital supplies.
Frost Giants had strong magic and were very powerful. But they were all very less in number. And with this amount of giant, the warmongers came like a tide and washed away all the giants. The frost giants started feeling like flies. But still, they were able to give enough competition to their warmongers that the warmongers started referring the giants as the greatest foes that they have ever fought.
And finally, after fighting the warmongers for 5 years, Farbauti made a decision. That decision changed the faith of the whole of Jotunheim…
As a king, Farbauti knew that if this war stretches for some time more, then a race called the frost giants would perish from the face of Yggdrasil. In these 5 years, those warmongers have vanquished all the 7 remaining realms. They still have a lot of fighting power left. So if this war goes on then the frost giants would face a huge disadvantage.
So he decided that he would bend a knee. He would surrender to those warmongers. As a king, he had the responsibility to look after his people. So he sent a message to Odin the leader of the warmongers that he would surrender and gave Jotunheim to them. In exchange, they have to stop their conquest.
Soon the reply came. Odin accepted their surrender. He said that he would be making a new realm of his own called the Asgard. And from there he would rule all his people and that would include the frost giants.
But in the letter, Odin also expressed his concerns about rebellion. Farbauti knew that this was all bullshit but he still kept on reading. In terms of surrender, Odin mentioned that they would only accept their surrender when the price of all the frost giants of Jotunheim, Loki would become a ward of the Asgard.
In simple words, it meant that Odin wanted Farbauti and Laufey’s son to come to live with him in the Asgard as the representative of the giants. But the real meaning behind Odin’s words was that he wanted his son as insurance so that Farbauti don’t try anything funny in the future.
This was an outrageous request from Odin. Everyone in the court of Farbauti started shouted that how could they ask for such an outrageous thing. But Farbauti on the other hand stayed quietly sitting on his throne.
It would be a lie if Farbauti denied that he didn’t think about this situation. In fact, he was sure that this would be the only thing that Odin would want. Farbauti knew that frost giants were very powerful beings. The only reason that Aesir gods were able to subdue them was that they were very little in number.
Otherwise, if frost giants have the same number as their enemies then there was no way hell that Aesir gods would have been able to win against them. Farbauti knew this fact. So as a king he started thinking that if he was in Odin’s place then what be the most feasible way from which he could ensure that his kingdom would be safe in the future?
And the only answer he could come across was to take an important giant as their hostage. And this is what Odin did.
